Amazon is planning to automatically enroll owners of its devices into a program which would share a slice of your internet connection with your neighbors. The shift will take effect as of June 8, according to multiple published reports including Ars Technica. Amazon could not be immediately reached for comment. Amazon Sidewalk is a low-bandwidth shared network the tech giant says will not only allow your devices to work better, but help locate lost items. The network shares "a small portion of your internet bandwidth which is pooled together to provide these services to you and your neighbors," reads a description on Amazon's website.

Sounds like theft of service to me. Just because you don't "opt out" of something doesn't mean you give your permission for amazon to steal your bandwidth.

I would not have one of Bezo's spies in my house, ever. I have carefully avoided Amazon for a couple of years now. I used to buy books there, when that was all that they sold. Bought a few other things for convenience, and then realized that I was funding someone who hated everything I hold dear and was working hard to destroy the country, and erase our freedoms. No more Amazon for me.

Okay, I have changed my settings on Alexa to be "off" for the Sidewalk Setting. Will that keep my Echo devices from participating? Or do I need to pull the Plug and not use them at all? Hoping the "Techies" here can lead me in the right direction!

Amazon is like the bad restaurant that manages to stay open, nobody knows how. I don't avoid them, they avoid me - whatever I try to buy, they can't get it to me. They also sell bespoke trash, the FireStick. It does not work for long! Cannot watch a 90-min movie without needing to restart in the middle. I am very concerned that United Launch Alliance has bet everything on the Blue Origin (Bezos) BE-4 engine. Maybe they can upgrade to some used - flight tested! - Raptors.

When these devices came out I tried to warn people that no good could come from a gadget connected to the internet. Just imagine how popular these would have been with the Stasi or the KGB. Now we have the FBI to do the recording.

Enable or DISABLE Amazon Sidewalk for Your Account To enable or disable Amazon Sidewalk, use the Alexa app. Open the "Alexa app" Open "More" and select "Settings". Select "Account Settings}. Select "Amazon Sidewalk". Turn Amazon Sidewalk On or OFF for your account. The Jetsons didn't envision megalomaniacs to be in control all their amazing modern tech devices. Neither did we. Argh.

And do you actually believe that "turning this off" will ACTUALLY turn it off? How gullible. They will do exactly what they want, regardless of the settings that you THINK you control. Like 'location off' on your phone. They STILL track you, just pretend not to.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was slammed on Twitter Wednesday for not helping her grandmother and instead posting images of her dilapidated home in Puerto Rico and blaming Trump for not sending aid after Hurricane Maria. Critics were quick to jump on the post questioning why the progressive congresswoman, who makes $174,000 and drives a Tesla, isn't sending money to help her grandmother. 'Just over a week ago, my abuela fell ill. I went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID,' Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. 'This is her home,' she continued, posting two pictures of mostly-empty rooms where the ceiling is falling in.

More and more fights breaking out on airplanes. Why? The short answer is that wearing masks to protect against COVID-19 remains a politically divisive statement. Nine killed by gunfire in another mass shooting. Hateful attacks on Jews and Asians rising. All of that happened in the last week. Americans should be coming together in celebration of declining coronavirus infections this Memorial Day. Instead, the bursts of public violence and hate reflect deep political division.

We all took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We believe in the sanctity of that oath. All of our civilian and military leaders take the same oath. Today we are confronted with a very serious domestic enemy.

'I would be shocked if they did not come forward with a fabricated indictment for bank fraud or tax fraud against the former president [Donald Trump] by Manhattan District Attorney,' Stone told Infowars host Alex Jones. 'If they want to go after the president on fabricated charges, then we will establish that this is a partisan witch hunt.'

The GOP must die. The Grand Old Party is over and unsalvageable. The name finds its origin in the post-Civil War era as the party that saved the Union, but whatever positive connotations may have come with the GOP moniker are dead and gone now. Today, GOP conjures images of gray hairs at the country club and board meetings at Halliburton, and it seems the only thing it is nterested in saving is the status quo. There was a time when these perceptions could be dismissed as partisan pejoratives, but at some point, Republican Party leadership chose to embrace and embody the characterization.
