President Biden’s pick to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on Wednesday sidestepped questions about whether he would turn over records related to allegations that Mr. Biden‘s son Hunter lied on a background check to buy a gun. David Chipman, who has been nominated to lead the federal agency, said he would try to get records requested by Republican senators, but cautioned that he would have to abide by ATF and Justice privacy policies.(Snip) When local police began investigating the incident, Secret Service agents showed up to the store where he bought the firearm and took the paperwork associated with the sale,

Militant protesters marked the anniversary of George Floyd’s murder with yet another riot in Portland, Oregon—smashing up local businesses and trying to burn down the city’s Justice Center, according to police. More than 200 rioters—most fully clad in black and many wearing gas masks—trashed the troubled City of Roses soon after a peaceful march ended late Tuesday, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). Some of the mob tried to torch the Multnomah County Justice Center by pushing flaming dumpsters against the building as at least two people tried to pry open the doors and get inside, the force said.

President Biden wants to spend in excess of $1 trillion to combat climate change, but more than one-third of Americans are unwilling to chip in a single buck. A poll of 1,200 registered voters released Tuesday by the Competitive Enterprise Institute found that 35% were unwilling to spend any of their own money to reduce the impact of climate change, with another 15% saying they would only go as high as $10 per month. Another 6% said they would be willing to spend between $11 and $20 per month. At the other end of the spectrum were those who said they would part with between $901

The Biden administration ended an inquiry into a possible connection between the origins of the novel coronavirus and a lab in Wuhan, a CNN report published Tuesday claims. The State Department launched the previously-undisclosed inquiry last fall under President Trump–but the effort was shut down this spring because of “concerns about the quality of its work,” CNN reported, citing three unnamed sources. Allies of Mike Pompeo, Trump’s Secretary of State, were looking into the possibility that the coronavirus pandemic may have started in Wuhan Institute of Virology and not in nature, CNN reported. But after the changeover in administrations, concerns were raised

Anthony Fauci has defended the United States' 'modest' and 'very respectable' funding of the Wuhan laboratory—which is now at the center of speculation as a possible source of the COVID-19 virus. Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), appeared before a Congressional budget committee on Tuesday. He defended allocating $600,000 to a group called EcoHealth Alliance, which then paid the Wuhan Institute of Virology to study the risk that bat coronaviruses could infect humans.(Snip) Paul insisted that the money was being used for gain of function research: Fauci insisted it was not. The House Oversight Committee on Tuesday urged an inspector general to investigate the extent of the U.S. Postal Service’s surveillance of Americans’ social media accounts. The Postal Service’s law enforcement arm previously confirmed to lawmakers’ staffs that the agency’s Internet Covert Operations Program or iCOP had monitored social media for “inflammatory” posts and shared details about the accounts and posts with other federal law enforcement agencies, according to lawmakers. “These activities raise serious questions about the scope of the program, the extent of sharing of information among law enforcement agencies, and whether [U.S. Postal Inspection Service] has the authority to conduct such an operation

The second person in the world to get the Pfizer-BioNTech jab has died of an unrelated illness. Bill Shakespeare, 81, received his first Covid vaccine in December at University Hospital Coventry shortly after 91-year-old Margaret Keenan. Coventry councillor Jayne Innes, a friend of Mr Shakespeare, said he had died on Thursday and added the "best tribute to Bill is to have the jab". Mr Shakespeare had worked at Rolls-Royce and was a parish councillor.
The 81-year-old, who had served his local community in Allesley for more than three decades, died of a stroke, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust said.

At least one person was shot Tuesday when gunfire erupted in George Floyd Square in Minneapolis on the one-year anniversary of the police-custody murder. Minneapolis police confirmed to USA Today that one person had been shot and 911 callers reported a suspected gunman fleeing in a vehicle “at a high rate of speed.” “This is an evolving incident,” police spokesperson John Elder said in a statement to the outlet. “No further information is available at this time.” Footage taken by the Associated Press recorded nearly 30 loud bangs around 11 a.m. at the intersection where Floyd died, 38th Street and Chicago Avenue.

Minneapolis—The Minneapolis intersection where George Floyd died was disrupted by gunfire Tuesday, just hours before it was to be the site of a family-friendly street festival marking the anniversary of his death at the hands of police. Associated Press video from the scene showed people running and seeking cover as shots rang out. A police spokesman didn't immediately respond to a message seeking comment. Journalist Philip Crowther, who was shooting live video from 38th and Chicago, reported hearing as many as 30 gunshots about a block east of the intersection. Crowther said a storefront window appeared to have been broken by a gunshot.

Cash Gernon; say his name. Just kidding, this is the last anyone will hear of this evil crime.
