At United Airlines, racism and sexism are their copilots

United Airlines has apparently conquered such mundane issues as late flights, canceled flights, uncomfortable flights, rude counterworkers, lost baggage, multi-hour delays in answering their phones, that plane urchin who keeps kicking the back of your seat and the ample passengers who’ve sandwiched you into the middle seat and the moron in front of you who’s thrown his seat back into your knees at about Mach 2. Not to mention United’s pesky problem of occasionally terrifying the passengers moments before slicing, dicing, incinerating and vaporizing them.

Two family friends were United Airline captains in the 50s through the early 80s. One was a truly great pilot, the other was very competent. I wouldn't get on United these days on a dare.

My son's planning a trip to France later this year. Delta and Air France are partners, as are United and Lufthansa. He's planning to book either through Air France or Lufthansa. Given they've got the best routes, maybe that will hit DL and UAL in the pocket at least a little bit.

Took a United flight last Labor Day weekend. Seat in front of you is so close to your face. No room. Then, the seats still recline. Person in seat next to me had the man bun of the groovy guy from seat in front of her in her face the entire trip. At that point, I said I would never fly United. This hiring strategy only solidifies my decision. Perhaps UAL stockholders should consult with Gillette and Coke before endorsing this poison pill.

I can see an out right here for UAL. If there are only seven new spots for pilots overall, then only 3.5 POC (50%) will be chosen anyway. Maybe the half-person will be a woman pilot with outstanding flying skills. I'm not going any place where UAL is going. I really miss my all time favorite airline, Eastern.

If you are going to dip into 4% of the pool to get 50% of your PILOTS ( these are not baggage handlers), you are getting the dregs. No thanks!

I’m an airline pilot, and I agree it’s ridiculous. It’s also ridiculous to suggest separate seating areas for vaccinated people (more discrimination), which the United CEO has suggested. But, flying beats driving any day.

I traveled both domestic and international for 37 years. I trusted the physicians I select as I can ask others in the field who is the best. I trusted my corporate pilot as he had a great resume including a multi-engine instrument rated flight instructor. I trusted the commercial pilots because I knew they accumulated disciplined flight hours to achieve the captain's bars. Now you want diversity as an achievement? Domestically I have always preferred corporate flying, then car and last commercial because of flight delays and TSA junior high school. Will be driving even more now.

I had eye surgery 10 years ago, I asked the doctor where she got her degree, how often she did this procedure, her success rate. I do not believe that I was out of line. The surgery was a success.

Madness. You should want the best pilots based on skill not skin color or genitalia. Especially when you are going to entrust them with several hundred lives. United is dead to me now. I will not trust my life to someone selected for reasons of “diversity”. This may just be some virtue signaling by a company wanting to impress the public with their ‘wokeness’ but I am not willing to take that chance.

Will whites even be allowed on the planes as passengers? Or will they be vilified and knocked off all social media instead as having the nerve to purchase a ticket? United can go fly a kite.

A fawning “report” in the Aspen Daily News breathlessly announced more federal COVID funds for Glitter Gulch, otherwise known as Aspen, Colorado. To be exact, $538,073. You know the place. Where the house pictured above just sold for $72 million, and houses routinely go for $3-5,000/sq ft. Where insiders such as newspaper reporters and city council members get slope-side multimillion dollar homes for dimes on the dollars under the taxpayer-subsidized housing program. The fed money this time is for Aspen’s vagrants.

A recent Gallup poll showed that most Americans think it’s time to move on from the pandemic. But not the Democrats. Democrats say by a 71-29% margin that we still should not “live normal lives”, but instead should “try to stay at home.” That’s despite the fact that the COVID death rate in America is down nearly 90%, the new cases are down about 65%, over half of Americans have been vaccinated (and over 80% of the vulnerable ones) by vaccines shown to be 95% effective, and even the redoubtable (or perhaps doubtable) Dr. Fauci says we can go out now. So what gives?

Millions of sub-Saharan blacks seek to immigrate to America. They apparently haven’t gotten the memo that this is a wretched land of systemic anti-black racism. When they get here, they’re strangers in a strange land. English is usually not their first language. Their skin color tends to be very black, not the lighter color of American blacks who have an average of about 25% white blood in them. Despite those handicaps, they do better than American-born blacks. Compared to American-born blacks, their income is about a third higher, their poverty rates are significantly lower, their educational achievement is higher, and their marriage rate is double.

Satan may not be much more to you than a medieval caricature, looming large only in the minds of 17th century Puritans. The European Enlightenment, after all, disinfected such bogeymen with the light of Reason. But one is tempted to ask, to what end? As Goethe wryly observed in Faust, thanks to The Enlightenment “The Evil One is gone, the evil ones remain.” Who is this dude Satan?

Early in the pandemic, Dr. Fauci said, “there’s no reason to be walking around wearing a mask.” He said masks might cause more harm than good. In the kind of pirouette for which he’s now famous, Fauci later told us all to wear masks indoors and out. Fauci himself starting wearing two at a time. (Why not three?) His baffled boss, Joe Biden, wears them for Zoom calls – even though he’s been fully vaccinated. As it turned out, Fauci lied about his reason for initially telling us not to wear masks. The real reason was that he wanted to save them for doctors such as himself.

On a recent walk, I came across a neighborhood littered with the yard sign in this photo. It seems the provocative platitudes we’ve seen on bumper stickers for a century have now taken root in our yards. And for the same reason: To tell the world that the sign-planter holds wonderful beliefs that he’s willing to impose upon and attribute to the rest of his family. It’s surely not because the sign-planter thinks he’s persuading anyone of the rightness of his position, as if the neighbors reading the sign will say to themselves, “Gee, ‘Democracy dies in darkness’ is a great point. I’d never thought of it that way.”

There is something you need to know because it is of overwhelming importance to America’s survival as a constitutional democratic republic: The Biden administration is moving inexorably to making it a crime to oppose Biden and the Democrat party’s policies. Attorney General Merrick Garland is organizing a massive task force to hunt those illusory “White supremacists,” who just happen to be Trump supporters. Moreover, the federal charging documents against many of those being held for trespassing in Congress reveal that some of the people most active in planning January 6 and encouraging others to act were FBI agents or informants. In other words, it was a set-up.
