FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The superintendent of the Florida school district where 17 students and staff died in a 2018 high school massacre was arrested Wednesday after investigators said he lied to a grand jury investigating events surrounding the shooting. Broward County Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement at district headquarters and charged with perjury in an official proceeding, which is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. According to an indictment issued by the grand jury last week and released after Runcie’s arrest, the superintendent lied when he testified before the panel three weeks ago,

No specific reported on what he lied about. The grand jury is investigating a number of things about the District - listed in the article. I found this one interesting. Remember what was going on in the Miami-Dade district when Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin. Trayvon had been a victim of this nonreporting of juvenile crimes to manipulate district numbers: — Officials intentionally underreported on-campus crimes committed by students. Since the shooting, Runcie and district administrators have been accused by critics of lying about school crime rates and discipline problems.

(hit submit too soon) I say “victim” because his previous misdeeds - including a burglary at a home between his residence and the school, after which a bag of jewelry and burglary tools was found in his locker and quietly stored as “found property”, never reported to authorities. His behavior escalated until he was finally suspended. His “mother” Sabrina threw up her hands and sent him to his “father” in Sanford. The rest = history. It was believed that if he’d been strongly disciplined for his truancy and other early infractions, he might never have been suspended, etc., etc., etc.

What a smart way to make your record look good, don't report crimes, violations, psychological examinations, arrest records, etc. We should implement this nationwide, especially in black neighborhoods and schools.

I live in Broward County, worked adjacent to Parkland and close to MSD. Runcie was sent down by Barack to lower the numbers of accountability by blacks and other minorities. IOW, fudge the numbers. Nicholas Cruz was adopted, but all his reports and investigations would list him as Hispanic. They knew he was a loose cannon. Nothing was done and 17 beautiful souls died!

Hire corrupt Dems under affirmative action quotas and get crooked leadership of the schools. Broward County is infested with corruption, and insane leftist politics. And they have a bunch of cowards in leadership of the sheriff's department.

re: #2 and #3, IIRC Treyvon Martin was in a "Promise Program" in Miami-Dade which successfully covered up his theft charges and kept him in school, also without reporting anything on his record, and possibly covering it up on the school board records, too. This whole part of Florida is pretty totally overrun with NYC and NJ folks who brought their corrupt Democrat ways down to the Sunshine State with them. Not a part of the state I like to go to.

School districts routinely lie on accountability reports, I think. I worked for a district for 14 years that specialized in that practice. As for the FTA: “Runcie’s supporters have praised him for increasing the district’s graduation rate.” Graduation rates are a travesty, for there is a tremendous dropout rate that no district takes responsibility for.

Many, particularly those on the right, worry the United States is turning into China, but we are a Western nation coming out of a (mostly) Western tradition. Black-owned businesses surrounding the area where George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis last year say they are in desperate need of help from police. Black merchants operating on the corner of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, known as George Floyd Square, are struggling to stay open due to rampant crime and say police have blocked off the intersection, creating a dangerous autonomous zone, according to the New York Post. “The city left me in danger,” the owner of Smoke in the Pit said Thursday, two days after Derek Chauvin was convicted of murder for Floyd’s death. “They locked us up on here and left us behind.”
