Recent events have rendered it all too obvious that the politicians and bureaucrats charged with overseeing the nation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic are determined to use it as a pretext to restrict our civil liberties indefinitely. They refuse to provide coherent answers to simple questions about their plan for returning the country to normal and insist that Americans adhere to mitigation strategies that have been shown to be ineffective in practice and inconsistent with basic science, while colluding with news outlets and social media platforms to censor respected scientists and physicians whose research conflicts with the pseudoscientific nonsense that constitutes the administration’s pandemic policy.

Our streets are now so unsafe that it might be helpful to rewatch Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry films. They can remind us of an earlier period in the 1960s and 1970s when crime was widespread, liberal judges were putting criminals back on the streets and the entire justice system was anti-cop and pro-criminal.In the middle of a wave of violence that left everyday Americans feeling both threatened and vulnerable, along came a series of movies that captured the desire for law and order.The first and most famous of these was 1971's Dirty Harry, starring Eastwood as Inspector Harry Callahan of San Francisco.
The law has spoken. On Tuesday, a jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on counts of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and the second-degree manslaughter of George Floyd. After weeks of lawmakers and commentators chiming in and expressing a desire for Chauvin to be convicted, this wish has finally been granted, barring a retrial.
Yet the jury’s decision will not be enough for the left. It never was meant to be. To Democrats, Chauvin represents a systemic racism woven into the fabric of the United States — white supremacy that can only be quelled by restructuring the entire American system.
CNN, of all places, had the audacity to complain about loaded chyrons from their competitors at Fox News. On New Day, new co-host Brianna Keilar ended the 7am hour tearing into Fox for “conspiracy theories and fear mongering,” a rich accusation coming from the network who pushed the Russian collusion conspiracy hysteria for years and spent nearly all of 2020 blaming Donald Trump for every coronavirus case.
The former afternoon host launched into one of her signature snarky takedowns, today targeting Fox News’ headlines "in the era of President Joe Biden.” She complained:

Over the past year of COVID, there’s been a recurring news narrative of “experts surprised their predictions were off the mark.” It’s happened on almost every major policy issue – from masks to lockdowns to surface cleaning – and the margins of error are often vast. The CDC or some government body told us with certainty that something was true concerning COVID, and we had to obey.
But then the data comes out, and the people yelling about “the science” were totally wrong…
Yet somehow we’re supposed to ignore the abysmal track record of these experts and listen to whatever their next proclamation of “the science!” may be,

Peach State Republicans, we are told, are part of a multi-state GOP conspiracy to disfranchise minority voters by restricting ballot access. The plot involves such horrors as requiring everyone to provide identification when they vote and compelling them to cast ballots in their own precincts. Combined with such outrages as fixed time frames for returning mail-in votes, coherent rules for securing ballot drop boxes, and removal of dead people from voter rolls, these laws allegedly portend the return of Jim Crow.

It’s possible that the jurors believed that the evidence showed he is truly guilty of a pair of murder charges and one count of manslaughter. But what if they convicted him simply to avoid riots?
Unless the jurors agree to talk about their deliberations and share their inner thoughts, we’ll never know if they surrendered to the mob and convicted a man whose guilt they had doubts about. So we’re left to always wonder.

A 47-year-old man suffered a broken jaw in January after being sucker-punched in the face in the Bronx. Police described the attack as a “possible knockout game.” Also in January, Catholic Deacon Frederick Kurr, 74, was sucker-punched as he attempted to swipe his subway card inside a Bronx subway station.
Video footage shows a suspect, who had been standing at an adjacent turnstile, punching Kurr in the face.
