The mom of an Australian swimming star guesses her daughter Tahnee Afuhaamango has broken over three dozen world records in her career. Incredibly, Tahnee, who has Down syndrome, broke one by over six seconds without even realizing it until returning home from the competition. On Feb. 6, after completing the 200-meter freestyle event in Darwin, Tahnee, 38, headed home to Jingili to rest. That same afternoon, her mother Donna Rousham checked the times. Tahnee had clocked 3:38.72—a full 6.64 seconds faster than the world record for swimmers with Down syndrome over age 35. “I nearly died,” Donna told Australia’s ABC News. “You don’t hear of those times … this is really special.”

Comments:

Her mother then took the steps necessary to get her time verified and certified, so it is officially a matter of record. A terrific achievement is now recognized.

Thanks for posting. An inspiring story. I noticed this week there is a commercial on TV featuring a young man with Down's syndrome. About time we see people with assorted handicaps featured not only in ads but as regular people on shows, especially those with Down's syndrome before women are convinced or pressured to kill the child in the womb.

A great feel good article. And it educational for me. I had no idea that anyone kept time records for swimmers with Down’s syndrome over the age of 35.

How wonderful! My husband has a nephew with Down Syndrome who has won numerous Special Olympics gold medals for weight lifting. He is 35 years old, graduated from the local high school with no special ed, has a job and is the joy of the family. Funniest guy you’ll ever meet.

Deceptive headline. The "world record" is for "swimmers with Down syndrome over age 35." It's heartwarming that this woman is participating in athletics despite her debilitating condition - - but - - let's not exaggerate the scope of her achievement. Or next we'll be reading about the astounding accomplishments of obese Romanian dentists with club feet.

This is all very depressing to see--the utter mendaciousness of our ruling class: elected representatives of the American people, appointees, the military establishment, the intelligence community, and last but far from least, the media. The corruption is so sweeping that you're left almost breathless. And they're utterly feckless, to boot. Let's start with Gilbert Doctorow--Bombast From Washington: Joe Biden’s Russia Sanctions. Doctorow first explains that nobody who understands the current shape of the world is taking those sanctions seriously. Putin himself is obviously unfazed. The DC armchair imperialists have crossed a red line, and Putin has responded--as Doctorow explains in a Postscript to his original article:

Rep Mullin smartly uses the example of federal officers who have been attacked, assaulted and injured by Antifa and BLM, yet the FBI does nothing to investigate or prosecute these violent extremists. Mullin even quoted Wray back to himself when the FBI Director said: “Antifa is not a national organization”, a quote Director Wray now stunningly denies. First, WATCH:

They are technically correct — it makes zero sense to continue to put American lives at risk and spend taxpayer dollars on a decades-long ‘war’ with no foreseeable end nor desire to ‘win’. But as you can guess, when former president Donald Trump announced he would withdraw troops from Afghanistan just last year, the media hysterically warned that he was emboldening the Taliban and making America less safe. ‘Trump administration to cut troop levels in Afghanistan despite Pentagon warnings,’ the Washington
