Black Panther Director: I Will Not Boycott Georgia

“Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler has found himself under scrutiny for remaining in Georgia to work on production for the second installment of the popular Marvel franchise. While many establishment Hollywood-types and social media critics have suggested Coogler follow the lead of industry colleagues like Will Smith, the Black film maker responded in an op-ed at Deadline last week, saying he believed such a move would do more harm than good for those involved in his project. While I wished to turn my concern into action, I could not do so without first being educated on the specifics of Georgia. Having now

This is a Disney film. Disney was not a signatory to last week's political election 'letter' published in the NYT, WaPo and WSJ. Since the beginning of this year Disney has been hammered for their treatment of their furloughed themepark employees; their association with Chinese slave labor camps; and, their CEO was publicly embarrased at their annual shareholder's meeting over their firing and public defamation of Giina Carano. All that has economic consequence. No director or actor writes like that. In the OP's opinion that op-ed was drafted, reviewed, and presented to him for him to sign. It would not surprise me at all if it was written by an attorney, agent, servant, or employee of the Walt Disney Corporation and not released for signature and publication until after a thorough review at the C suite level of WDC. Disney's customers are not woke.

I'm guessing the woke crowd is still going to crucify him. And we normal people are going to avoid this film at all costs, just because it's just more Hollyweird PC garbage. Remember when making movies was just about entertaining people -- not how woke and PC you could be?!?!?!?

He’s still an a_______e, in my opinion. He thinks he’s covering his ass by saying he will fight voter suppression. It will cost him a lot of money to move out of Georgia. Give me a break!

It is truly ironic that, apparently, Will Smith thinks that Blacks are too stupid to get a photo ID...particularly since they all have one already.

Dear Woke Corporate America, I hope you are all having fun with your virtue signaling. I hope you are enjoying trying to one-up each other and showing how woke you can be, all the while believing that you are more sophisticated and morally superior to the hard-working people of this country. You must have loved the accolades from your elitist, left-wing peers when you took the MLB All-Star Game from Georgia. What a fun day for you on Twitter. Congratulations. Never mind that you have destroyed working people’s jobs and hurt people who haven’t worked since COVID-19 took a member of their family or destroyed their small business.

In the New York Times, David Leonhardt writes about “Irrational COVID Fears.” The subhead: “Why do so many vaccinated people remain fearful?” Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because of constant media hysteria, and the insistence by Dr. Fauci and others that vaccinated people continue to wear masks? That isn’t where Leonhardt is going, of course. He begins with the fact that most people are terrible at objectively assessing risk. That is both true and unfortunate, but not exactly news. It does apply to covid vaccination: The vaccines have nearly eliminated death, hospitalization and other serious Covid illness among people who have received shots.

After a day of closing arguments, jury deliberations began late Monday afternoon in former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin’s trial in the death of George Floyd. In the state’s closing argument, a prosecutor said Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck and back for 9 minutes and 29 seconds because of his pride and his ego in the face of concerned bystanders. “He was not going to let these bystanders tell him what to do. He was going to do what he wanted, how he wanted, for as long as he wanted. And there was nothing, nothing they can do about it because he had the authority. He had the power,

NASA's Mars helicopter Ingenuity just made aviation history, and its robotic buddy caught the whole thing on video. Early this morning (April 19), Ingenuity aced the first-ever powered flight on a world beyond Earth. The 4-lb. (1.8 kilograms) chopper rose 10 feet (3 meters) above the floor of Jezero Crater, stayed aloft in Mars' thin air for 39 seconds and came down for a pinpoint landing at its takeoff spot. And we have high-definition documentation of this otherworldly Wright Brothers moment thanks to NASA's Perseverance rover, which recorded the flight from 230 feet (70 m) away using its powerful Mastcam-Z camera system. "Absolutely beautiful flight!"

She demanded a guilty verdict from the jurors at the Chauvin trial and urged protesters to be “more confrontational,” saying people “need to know that we mean business.” After she made her comments Saturday night, members of the National Guard who were patrolling with police in Minneapolis were shot at. Two were slightly injured in the incident — one from flying glass, and the other had superficial injuries. Many Republicans blasted her actions, decrying that a member of Congress would behave in that manner.
