Big Tech’s ‘trust’ problem will soon cost lives
by scaring people away from life-saving technology

Science and medicine can do a lot to make our lives better. But for that to happen, we have to be able to trust the public authorities, companies and institutions that produce and oversee the innovations. We’re already seeing the sad fruits of distrust in the unwillingness of many people — including health workers on both sides of the Atlantic — to take the COVID-19 vaccines. People don’t trust experts and government agencies as they once did, which means assurances of vaccine safety often fail to persuade. When health officials and other authorities manipulate the public, as they have throughout this pandemic, they lose credibility.

I don't trust the government. Never have since the 70s when I watched the mayhem that dumbarse Nixon did to the economy and about the damned oil. That was a total fraud and the 'government' made it much worse in a couple of hundred different ways. And the few docs smart enough, honest enough, brave enough and distrustful of government enough to tell us the truth have shown me that I should REALLY distrust their motives with this "vaccine". My own scientific knowledge and experience putting together and managing bioscience projects led me to start questioning this mRNA approach from the beginning. And then the even smarter docs, like Yeadon, have put the cherry on top. I'm not taking their "vaccine". No way. And I have full confidence that I will be fine. I've been NOT hiding out, and did not wear a mask until it was mandatory. We have eaten out three times a week or more during this whole Dem-panic, except six weeks when the restaurants were closed. We are NOT hiding, not afraid. Taking a few sensible precautions, but that is it. And masks are NOT on my list of sensible precautions. Visited family in Florida and Mississippi, wore no masks there at all.

Gee, an implantable medical device that could save my life? Let's add features to it. Add GPS so I could be rescued no matter where I am on Earth. Add banking information so no one could ever steal from me including my identity. Let's also add a feature that records everything I see and hear so I can have perfect memory. While we're at it let's add an encyclopedic library to let me literally know everything. Such a device is almost certainly possible right now. I'm sure the device will also be free to anybody who wants it. I'll be one of those crazy old Christians who'll refuse it.

I was ambivalent about the vaccines until tech companies announced that they would censor any negative information about them that was not from the proper government authorities. Immediately, "Pravda" came to mind. I decided the vaccines were not trustworthy.

The Democrats ought to be celebrating the three guilty verdicts the jury handed down in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin Tuesday. Chauvin faced three serious charges in the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, and was found guilty on all three. Two of the charges are degrees of murder. Instead of acknowledging justice, Democrats from Joe Biden on down instead described it as “accountability” and insisted that it wasn’t enough. They pushed for the Senate to pass a set of federal changes to police law — I won’t describe the bill as “reform” until I’ve read its particulars myself, as most Democrat inititiatives deform

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) organization expressed its displeasure Tuesday with President Joe Biden for “sending more military equipment” to local police than former President Donald Trump. “Our communities are being terrorized at a greater rate than they had been under Trump,” the organization tweeted. “Biden is currently sending more military equipment to our neighborhoods than Trump did. You read that right,” they claimed. BLM also noted Biden’s first 100 days are quickly approaching, a deadline the organization has set for ending “transfers” of military equipment to local communities. “Biden’s first 100 days are up in 10 days.

If the New York Times reports it, then it must be true because it’s America’s “newspaper of record” that publishes “all the news that’s fit to print,” right? To be a New York Times reporter or editor is the pinnacle of career achievement for journalists around the world. Not anymore. It was the Times that first reported that Capitol Hill Police (CHP) Officer Brian Sicknick died as a result of being hit in the head with a fire extinguisher during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Every news organization in America and reporter covering Congress (yes, including me) echoed that story, which, according to the archived version

Woke television has apparently gone so far that not even black showrunners are safe from being cancelled. The latest shift comes courtesy of the L.A. Times condemning a supposedly growing rise of “black trauma porn.” On April 19, the Los Angeles Times ran an article decrying “media images of Black death” in recent shows and movies that deal with racism. Using the latest Amazon Prime series Them as an example, staff writer Greg Braxton wrote about how “numerous Black viewers” and critics were “outraged” at the depictions of violence against the black characters

The Chinese military’s nuclear capabilities are increasing rapidly and, for the first time, might be primed for use, the U.S. military officer in charge of America’s nuclear arsenal warned Tuesday as he urged Congress to upgrade America’s aging nuclear infrastructure. In an effort to describe how quickly the Chinese nuclear program is advancing, Adm. Charles Richard, the commander of U.S. Strategic Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he had just ordered all briefs on Beijing’s nuclear weapons contain no intelligence information vetted more than one month earlier “because it's probably out of date” that quickly. Richard testified Tuesday that China is capable of accurately deploying nuclear weapons

We learned yesterday that Officer Brian Sicknick died of natural causes. The significance of that admission was not just for Sicknick’s immediate family, some of whom already seem to have known he didn’t die from an attack with a fire extinguisher. The real significance was the way in which this undercut the media’s confident framing of his death as a victim of the Jan. 6 riot. Yesterday, Glenn Greenwald took this occasion to point out how this lie got going and why the media desperately wanted it to be true: So The New York Times on January 8 published an emotionally gut-wrenching but complete fiction that never had any evidence

Swing district Democrats admitted Tuesday that their vote to table the resolution censuring Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was not an “easy vote,” while others refused to comment after the vote. House Democrats voted along party lines to block House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) resolution censuring Waters for her comments over the weekend in which she allegedly incited violence. If the resolution passed through the House, Waters would have likely lost her position as the House Financial Services Committee chair. Even though Democrats did stay in lock-step on this vote, many of them representing districts that Republicans could flip admitted that it was not easy. Others refused

In a bizarre Tuesday press conference following the guilty verdict for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) thanked Floyd for “sacrificing” his life, as though it was his choice, and crying out for mother. It was a disgusting display that went completely unmentioned by the evening newscasts of ABC, CBS, and NBC, though ABC’s World News Tonight was busy falsely claiming Republicans were against police reform. Fortunately, Fox News Prime Time rotational host and Federalist co-founder Ben Domenech wasn’t going to let Pelosi’s gross exploitation of Floyd’s death slide. “[I]t seems to me that the way the totalitarian left

Lebron James “was crying,” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison was ebullient, and Senator Tim Scott got some facts wrong, but nobody had a stranger reaction to the guilty verdicts in the Derek Chauvin trial than Nancy Pelosi. The Speaker of the House quickly arranged a presser outside on Capitol Hill after the guilty verdicts were read on Tuesday afternoon. Members of Congress were arrayed behind Pelosi as the House Speaker looked prayerfully up to the sky and, in a voice muffled by her mask, said in her treacly way: Thank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice. Many Christians are feeling frustrated with the Biden administration. A recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal points to how Joe Biden’s flip-flop on refugees is frustrating evangelicals who foolishly voted for him last November. As the Journal contributor noted, they have a reason to feel betrayed.  Believers who care about values, life, and religious liberty continue to find that the new administration has let them down time and time again. While Biden may attend Mass regularly, many of his policy positions raise questions of how diligently he practices his Catholic faith outside the four walls of his church. CORRECTIONS*
