Federal data on causes of death in America show that, as recently as 2018, falling accounted for at least 126 times as many fatalities as rifles of any kind — an inconvenient fact for Democrat lawmakers who are currently demanding a new round of nationwide gun controls.Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) 2018 National Vital Statistics show 37,455 people died from unintentional falls throughout the year. The same CDC data shows unintentional firearm deaths for 2018 came in at 458, which means accidental death by falling was about 82 times more likely than accidental death via any kind of firearm.

We could save SO much if we simply repealed gravity. I'm sure Biden's puppet masters will get right on that...for 10%.

Ban Gravity - it's for the children after all.
The anti-gun zealots have severe mental issues, far worse than TDS.

As my oldest son hilariously commented Saturday, "Bill Gates wants to block the sun!" Liberals were born without the common sense gene.

If we had enacted sensible fall prevention laws(or maybe rubber band regulation) perhaps we would still have Harry Reid running the senate.

One leading causes of deaths in old people are falls.
They are much more worse than the virus also.
You ever see all the safety stickers on ladders

I'm a staunch advocate of the 2nd Amendment, and this article deserves an eye roll. Who has been asserting that accidental death by firearms are at issue?

Yes, but falling happens to an individual. Those nasty rifles can jump up and kill 10 or more people in one event...they must be banned! s/off

Forget about mask mandates.
What we really need is a foam rubber suit mandate - - so that whenever anyone falls - - they will bounce right back up.
So - - we need Federal Rubber Suit Police - - to enforce this mandate. Anyone failing to wear their foam rubber suits - - will be thrown into a rubber foam padded cell.

Ban stairs! Do it for the children. Besides, falling is racist! More blacks fall down than whites. It must be a white conspiracy
Can't ban gravity. All of the atmosphere would float away leaving everyone to suffocate. Women, minorities, and children hit hardest.

My ladders, my choice. Keep your filthy hands off my ladders.
Seriously, In my life my ladders are my biggest risk. Thats why every year I prune my fruit trees 1 ft shorter. By the time I am 70 my trees will be 5 ft tall.

Common sense the famous words of the left when the left has no common sense. Like mask mandates have rubber suit mandates if the Rubber Suit Police catch you not wearing one they'll beat you to death with clubs but at least you wouldn't die from a fall. Like London 'coppers' beating people on the street for not wearing masks it saves you from yourself.

This evidence is simply a rebuttal to the democrats' stated excuse of why we should give up our rifles, which is a big lie anyway. They do not want our guns because of the current rate of shootings, they want them so we will have more difficulty in stopping a totalitarian government from taking ALL of our rights. The way this rogue government is going, they have a legitimate concern on the real reason and we have an obligation to our forefathers to not comply..

Good information. "Assault rifles" are not much of an actual crime problem, which is why the 10 year ban was
ended years ago.
I testified in our state legislature against an "assault weapons" ban bill in the early 1990s, offered up by a woman who had recently moved to Kansas from NYC and was appalled at our freedoms.
I did similar research in the library (only paper sources were available then) and found that "personal weapons", which I had to look up in the notes of the Uniform Crime Statistics to discover meant hands, feet, elbows and knees, were used to kill much more often than all rifles combined. The intentionally misnamed 'assault rifles' were then about a 3% subset of "all rifles" and no statistics were separately kept. Probably because the definition is entirely unclear.
Then there were more people beaten to death with fists and feet than killed with these "assault weapons". I haven't checked lately, but probably similar numbers today.
In any case, the number of people killed with all rifles is tiny compared to many other kinds of murders, or many kinds of common household accidents.
Another good example was the number of children-under-5 "killed in gun accidents", which occasionally gets some media attention in the antigun press. Nationally that number is very low, and it turns out that 5 gallon plastic buckets are a far greater hazard to toddlers than family firearms. Put 6 inches of water, sometimes rainwater, in these tall buckets and a small child leaning into one can fall forward, arms wedged into ineffectiveness, legs in the air and face forced under water by their own body weight. The number of children who sadly drown this way exceeds the number of toddlers who die in gun accidents. Store plastic buckets upside down if there are toddlers around, and store your guns where kids can't get to them.
