RIP, Gordon, I used to enjoy your radio show very much, especially when you mentioned "my collection of Mrs Liddy's guns."
There seems to be something about age 90 these days. It seems a lot of folks are dying then. Of course, William Shatner just turned 90, so, maybe, that's why it sounds so familiar to me.

My favorite saying of his was: "Nitwits travel in packs." Pretty much sums up liberals the world over.

I lived in northern Virginia in the late 80's and saw the license place "H20GATE" on the highway, pretty sure it was the G-man himself. Also loved his radio show back when he followed Rush on our local radio station, now they're both gone....sad.

RIP, G Man!! His radio show was endlessly entertaining. He liked knives over firearms: "A knife is always 'loaded'. And it is silent!"
He spoke about how he had had every role in a courtroom except judge. "I've been a prosecutor, a defense counsel, a plaintiff, and a defendant!"
He is forever immortalized in the Steely Dan song "My Old School". In the line "...tried to warn you, about Gino and Daddy G..." The song was about Bard College, and Liddy was a Dutchess County prosecutor who arrested college kids for weed. Daddy G was one bad lawman!

Get a copy of "WILL, The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy." Liddy was an extremely intelligent man and a great author. He was also a true patriot who took the consequences for whatever he did or said. That kind of moral courage is in short supply now.

I still don’t understand why breaking into Communist Party Headquarters was a crime.

I listened to Liddy's radio show. I had been a lifelong democrat up until then. He is the person who slowly turned me into a conservative. Oh, the stories he could tell! RIP, you tough old bird.

God bless. He will now longer suffer the decline of civilization marked by odd suit and shoe combinations. I would add now add odd shirt and tie combinations to that list.
He was a milepost in history of a time when we exercised free speech as if it would last forever:
Now if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests. … They've got a big target on there, ATF. Don't shoot at that, because they've got a vest on underneath that. Head shots, head shots.... Kill the sons of bitches.
Statements on his radio program (26 August 1994), as quoted in "Did MSNBC Know Liddy's History?" at FAIR (29 April 2005)

Surely the most interesting character to emerge from the whole Watergate mess, Mr. Liddy was one of a kind: flawed but perfect nonetheless. I listened to Mr. Liddy's radio show regularly, and even recorded digitally his last broadcast in the summer of 2012. I still remember his identification of one of his favorite musical groups as "group Abba." So the G Man liked pop music? Who knew?
I treasured Mr. Liddy for his love of the English language. At the beginning of his show he would sign on thus: "Greetings, friends. It is I, the G Man." Perfectly proper. My late mother was a grammatical stickler, so Liddy was preaching to the converted when I was listening. His autobiography Will is a great read that I need to revisit.
He also gained acclaim for his surprising acting ability. Miami Vice fans will recall that he played Maynard aka Captain Real Estate with some dark connections to heroin in body bags from the Vietnam War. Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs always got their man, except for one: Liddy. He played in two episodes and got away clean both times. I liked that.
You lived quite a life. Rest in peace, G Man.
