Two Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who founded a start-up company that tested fecal matter are facing federal charges after they allegedly defrauded investors and health insurance providers to the tune of more than $95million. Zachary Schulz Apte, 36, and Jessica Sunshine Richman, 46, co-founders of now-bankrupt microbiome testing company uBiome, were indicted Thursday on multiple federal charges, including conspiracy to commit securities fraud, conspiracy to commit health care fraud and money laundering.(Snip) Customers would submit a fecal sample that the company analyzed in a laboratory, comparing the consumer's microbiome to others' microbiomes, prosecutors said. The service cost less than $100 initially.

Comments:

Testing feces? FedGov should establish a department to continue this valuable service, seeing how they are the world's foremost peddlers of same. I can think of a Secretary of Transportation who'd be perfect for the mission.

States control health insurance, or used to prior to obolacare. Why would a state require a health insurance company to pay for a test that purports to measure something mysterious, and heretofore, unmeasured? At least the blood test scammer was purporting to measure established components of blood.

Donald Trump Jr. has some advice for the Republican Party as another major league sports organization sprints onto the political field of play: “Grow some balls.” The Republican’s blunt statement comes in the wake of Major League Baseball’s decision to pull the 2021 All-Star Game and draft out of Atlanta in response to Georgia’s newly passed election legislation. Republicans in Congress should immediately move to repeal the @MLB’s anti-trust exemption,” former President Trump’s son wrote Friday. “Grow some balls and fight fire with fire.” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred sided with liberal politicians who claim SB 202 is an unconscionable erosion of voting rights

MLB is taking its ball and leaving Georgia. The league announced on Friday that it is moving the 2021 All-Star Game out of Atlanta as backlash grows over a new Georgia law that is seen as an attack on voter access. “I have determined the best way to demonstrate our value as a sport is relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft,” commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “MLB fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box.” Manfred’s decision comes as a growing number of corporations, including Atlanta-based Delta and Coca Cola,

Amazon has joined the chorus of corporations condemning Republican efforts to tighten election laws in Texas and Georgia. The e-commerce colossus said it opposes measures “aimed at restricting the ability of Americans to vote” as the Lone Star State’s Senate passed a bill that would limit access to mail-in ballots and ban drive-thru voting. “It has been fifty-six years since the Voting Rights Act became law, yet efforts to disenfranchise Black people and other minorities continue to this day,” Amazon exec Jay Carney, who served as ex-President Barack Obama’s press secretary, said in a statement Thursday.

National Public Radio has corrected an online article that falsely asserted that documents from first son Hunter Biden’s laptop had been “discredited by U.S. intelligence.” A book review of Hunter Biden’s memoir “Beautiful Things” initially dismissed the documents first reported in October by The Post. “The laptop story was discredited by U.S. intelligence and independent investigations by news organizations,” the book review by NPR senior editor and correspondent Ron Elving initially claimed. The correction on the Thursday article now says, “A previous version of this story said U.S. intelligence had discredited the laptop story. U.S. intelligence officials have not made a statement to that effect.”

It's too simple to blame the voters of any particular party when the main culprits are the individuals who just can't be bothered with politics.
