Donald Trump was acquitted by the Senate on Saturday in an impeachment trial for his role on the 6 January attack on the US Capitol – a verdict that underscores the sway America’s 45th president still holds over the Republican party even after leaving office. Trump was the first US president to be impeached twice and is now the first president to be twice acquitted. If convicted, he would have been barred from holding office in the future, but this decision now paves the way – should Trump want to run again – for another tilt at the White House in 2024.

Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse and Pat Toomey deserve to be publicly ostracized by their party and voted out at their first opportunity. Fortuitously, we already pushed Burr into saying (four years ago) that he was not running again after he quickly showed himself to be a sitting never-trumper.

I'm listening to Turtle. He voted "Not Guilty", but listen to him make the case for why he should have voted "Guilty". What gives??

Well, conservative republicans now have some targets in the primary election. Time to vote them out and replace them with team players. In particular, Collins, Murkowski and Romney have proven to be very reliable crossover votes whenever the democrats call on them.

#4, McConnell is showing he has no deep convictions about anything. And he just called Trump supporters a "mob."
A pathetic, loathsome, political animal.
Shut up, Turtle!!

Pat Toomey and Richard Burr aren't running for reelection. Lisa Murkowski is up for reelection in 2022. Mitt Romney in 2024, Ben Sasse, Bill Cassidy and Susan Collins were just reelected. There's not much hope of getting rid of them anytime soon unless God intervenes.

This impeachment of a private citizen proves that they recognize that Trump is still President.

This is a sad statement about the attitudes within our government. Neither impeachment relied on evidence - merely inuendo and partisan bullying. Those that caved to it did themselves and us, the American People, great disservice.
And there is still the issue of the stolen election. No, we won't let it go. And no, you're illegitimate usurper will not be tolerated in OUR halls of government for very long.

This circus could have been avoided if Roberts had simply called it unconstitutional. But lately Roberts has shown his loathsome, passive aggressive corrupt self. He acts like Pontius Pilate who had no idea what truth was, so he threw Jesus to an angry mob. Roberts is a clueless, modern day Pilate.

Although 7 losers voted the wrong way for the good guys; I think there's a lot to say about the 14 democrats who voted to acquit.

Sadly this unpeachment paved the way to be used on anyone for anything in the future. Democrats will be paying the price once republicans are back in control. Fair is fair.

Burr, Murkowski, and Toomey are all up for re-election next year, though Burr and Toomey have said they aren't running. Romney is up in 24 , and Cassidy, Collins, and Sasse were all just re-elected and aren't up until 26. They all should be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail.

Did they write the same about Slick 10 years after his impeachment when his wife was running for president? That is, until the demonrats discovered the Magic Negro and dumped her.

BTW, Mitch is getting on in years and probably has no plans to run again in 6 years so he thinks he can say whatever he wants. He’s got all that Chinese money so why not?

Sadly, Mr. President, the Demon-Rats are far from done!!!
They fear you, since they know you are the one man in the country that can overcome their mastery of election thievery, especially after 4 years of not-my-president Lyin' Joe Biden and not-my-VP Camel-Toe Harris doing everything they can to destroy our economy and deluge this nation with illegal aliens.
Please count me in your army of 75,000,000+ ready to support you with my time, talent, and treasure in 2024!!!!

The seven Republican senators were:
Richard Burr of North Carolina
Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
Susan Collins of Maine
Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
Mitt Romney of Utah
Ben Sasse of Nebraska
Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
Don't ever forget their names. Shame them to the ends of the political earth.
