In December, Floridians celebrated their ninth coldest Christmas on record, and the coldest in 21 years. Even South Florida, that frost-free region of palm trees and margaritas, was shivering on Christmas Day. (snip) It isn't just Florida. Temperatures are colder this year throughout the southeastern U.S., while massive snowfalls have hit the northeast. (snip) "We must take drastic action now," President Biden says, "to address the climate disaster facing our nation and the world." From where I sit — in Florida — the only "disaster" is the widespread and lasting cold — global cooling

OMG, what happened to global warming? Oh, right, record cold temperatures are a sign of warming. Silly me.

I live in NE Florida, and am scratching my head over this nonsense. Yes, we've had a few frosty mornings, a few really chilly days, but it's been a pretty normal January and February. So Christmas was cold? How about that Christmas a couple of decades ago when it never got above freezing. My stepdad lost most of his crop and seed potatoes because they got no warning from partying weathermen. Another Christmas we couldn't go anywhere because of snow and glaze ice on the roads. The highway department was struggling to keep just one bridge open. We've had temperatures in the single digits a couple of times. Not this year. Ha.

I agree with #3. I live in Central FL. Yes, we had a couple Frosts (where we have to cover our pretty flowering plants), but by noon it's in the 60's or 70's. It is normal for January. Yesterday it was 80 and today it will be 85. We will take a few cold days, as we like to say "at least we're not shoveling"! Those of us who grew up "up North" remember those winters. Cold, Gloomy, dirty snow, Ice. No thanks! Spoke to a daughter in IL a couple days ago. It was -3 there! So a few chilly days here are NOTHING compared to that!

I read something where a person predicted a mini ice age as the sun was going into a minimum

Kentucky here. We had a very cold Christmas but a warmish rest of the winter. Right now, they predicted an ice storm but it went by so fast, that it wasn't as bad as they said. A bit of glaze ice on the road, but otherwise not as bad as it could have been. Personally, I'll take global warming. I hate ice!

Real climate scientists are predicting another 'Maunder Minimum" due to an inactive sun. They realize the sun is where we get our heat from - not plant food (CO2). Government is always behind the curve trying to use things for political advantage. About the only thing governments are really good at is causing misery and killing people.

Well that finally proves it global warming is for real.
Yup #8 government is building the climate warming Maginot line so of course we will be being blitzed by the next Maunder Minimum.

My family moved to South Florida in 1970 from New Jersey. Mom gave away or donated all of our winter coats. That winter was one of the coldest ever for S. Florida and there was my Mom buying us winter coats. I think one day we actually had a few snowflakes.

Just wait a few days and a stupid leftist liberal will explain it to us. Some cleverly selected words will tell us how cooling is cause by warming. It's the 'climate vortex' or some clever wording when it's just a season of the year called 'winter'. One thing is for sure in this season those solar panels are useless and natural gas heat is the only thing that will warm you.

In my experiences I have noticed that snowy and icy weather are usually accompanied by overcast skies and relatively calm winds. Those solar panels and wind generators don't work very well in those conditions. The climate alarmists will have us freeze in the dark.

I compared it with the winter of 1984 and discovered that:
War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.
Freezing is warming.

Here in Maryland we have had the wettest 2 years ever. It seems like we are in a rain forest, but I am not so stupid as to believe that whatever is going on can be solved with windmills and Solar panels.
Climate cannot be changed by human beings overnight or in a hundred years.

Yep, here in Kansas it is one of our coldest winters in at least 15 or 20 years, too. In the early 80s, I remember one winter where we got to -25F actual temperature and the wind blowing hard, wind chill was -45F.
Just going out to the car was really unpleasant, and my old 60s VWs in those days were pretty hard to start in those temps.
Currently 11F and the high temps for the next few days predicted to be in the very low single digits, with overnight lows below zero. Predictions of -14F (not the fake wind chill stuff) in a couple of nights.
Very cold.
This is in line with the sunspot numbers which have been trending lower and lower for 3 or 4 decades. Long term weather trends have tracked the sunspot numbers pretty well for centuries.
If you are not familiar with the Maunder Minimum, take a few minutes and look it up. The Little Ice Age was associated with an absence of sunspots for quite a period. We are definitely in a low sunspot time, and it seems very likely that we are in for colder and colder winters for some long time.
MMGW is a pure political scam. The reality is that the climate is getting colder. Let's hope it isn't clicking over into one of our planet's periodic 100,000 year major ice ages. 10,000 years ago, as far south as Nebraska was covered in ice several kilometers thick. I wouldn't like that, and my friends in Nebraska would really hate it.

Hmm. I just checked the weather guessers' info on the north central Florida area where I have friends and family, around Gainesville. Currently 69F, highs for the next few days will be 79, 60 in rain and 76F.
North central Florida sounds pretty normal, and nice to me.
Still colder than heck here in eastern Kansas, though.

I live in central PA.
I grew up in the Rochester NY area.
The winter weather is milder than Rochester. Roads are cleared quickly. No slush.

My heart is not bleeding for those in Florida who feel 50 degrees is cold. I don't believe anyone is shoveling anything with temps in the mid 40's to low 50's. No one is falling on ice walking out to the car, or running into another vehicle because the roads haven't been plowed. Soon it will be 85 to 90 with the humidity causing everyone to sweat just sitting in the shade provided they venture outside and out of the air conditioning.

Yep, #19, I was out on the prairie drilling for oil and/or gas during that time. We had to thaw out a 2" pipe running full tilt boogie supplying water to the mud shack that froze solid. It was so cold, the bandana I wore over my face froze to my beard from the condensation of exhalation. Had to sit near the heater in the doghouse to melt that rag off my face. They don't know the fun of cold weather work or an actual embracement of the suck.
