Democrats are contemplating whether they can use the 14th Amendment to bar former President Donald Trump from ever taking office in the future, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said on Jan. 22.
Section three of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution,(Snip) states that anyone guilty of “insurrection or rebellion” against the United States shall not be eligible to hold elective office in the United States.
It allows for Congress to “remove such disability” with a two-thirds vote of the House and Senate.
Democrats in Congress have accused Trump of inciting the acts of violence (Snip)despite Trump saying that the protesters should protest “peacefully and patriotically.”
They sure are spending an awful lot of time worrying about Trump, and him running for office again. Seems to me that if the Capitol Building “insurrection” was so egregious and the public was fully aware of how he incited said “insurrection”, there is no chance the public would ever vote him in again would they?

They are fully aware of what they have done and they believe there are 75,000,000 Republican domestic terrorists conspiring against them throughout America's fruited plain who are just itching to vote for "insurrection".
It's exactly what THEY would do were the situation reversed.
Projection, thy name is Democrat.

THe Dems, and the people, know that Trump is a great patriotic President for the people so they’ll try to kneecap him any way they can, legally or not.

The Democrats are on a path of destruction and have become the enemy of the people. We are losing our sovereignty and the constitution is being desecrated.
We have Nancy Desmond Pelosi acting like the spiteful 80 year old -itch who should get off the stage and go swallow some Ginkgo Biloba. Then there is Crying Schumer who is just a mean and ugly spirit. What has he ever done for the people of NY? Have either of these two ever done anything selfless or kind or to help another person or people, IF there wasn't a something in it for them. NO! They are reprobates and power mongers of the worst kind.
The radical socialist cabal in Washington DC is the out to destroy our country and we the people are told to shut up about it.

Maybe our wise Congressional Constitutional Scholars should read up on the Constitutional prohibition of a "bill of attainder," a legislative punishment directed at a specific person.
Those were pretty common back in England and out Founding Fathers, the despicable racist males they were, didn't want it here.
Oops. Silly me. Here I go thinking the Constitution means anything anymore.

They are absolutely TERRIFIED of Trump and all of us who support him.
They do not grasp that if they somehow manage to "succeed" in blocking any legal, legislative, elective route to correcting their hideous, corrupt, illegal election fraud, they will only leave us other means and they really should think that through very carefully. Don't corner someone and give them no way out, and nothing to lose.

I agree with the poster that was to ban Confederates of the Civil War from holding office. It seems the left is going to paint Trump and his confederates with a broad brush to stomp us into the ground forever all 75+ million of us.
The left sure are scared of the legitimate President Trump. The longer this goes the more support Trump attains.

If it comes, so be it.
I am at a senior age where life imprisonment would only be a short stay and capital punishment would only rob me of months, and is no deterrent at all.
Neither incarceration nor lethal injection frighten me any longer, and either would be worth it if the venture made a difference.

Trump will be impeached and 'removed' from office. Whatever that means now days. Reason being, since there can't be a constitutional impeachment trial, Chief Just-Us will stand down. Leaky Leahy will preside over the kangaroo Senate farce. Since Dems are making this stuff up as they go, they will change the impeachment, non impeachment rules to conviction requires a simple majority. Since they are outside the Constitution, why not? Ultimately, TDS will drive the country into the first Constitutional crises since 1861. And the Supreme Joke of the US under Chief Just-Us Roberts will muck up the situation as best Roberts can to insure a crises. Sad when unstable and childish people like Democrats, Kagan, Sotomayor and Roberts are put not positions of power.

2/3 majority in both Houses? With Congress split 50/50? Ha! The Rats might siphon off a handful of spineless RINOs like Mittens and the two ditzy twits (Collins and Murkowski), but 2/3 is a pipedream. Still, that won't stop them from wasting everyone's time and energy on it.

Does anyone here think that THEY would not use this against us?
The simple fact is that insurrection and rebellion require an overt act - taking up arms, assassinations, rigging elections - in an attempt to overthrow the duly elected government. Former President Trump did not do one of those things.

As far as I know, unless there is news somewhere I haven't heard, former President Trump has had no criminal trial, and is not "anyone guilty of “insurrection or rebellion” against the United States." Guilty implies a trial, not just the opinion of some halfwits.

The "anyone guilty" phrase in the 14th amendment requires a trial for that determination, so this piece of news brings us right back to the outcome of the impeachment trial, unless Biden's DOJ files federal charges against citizen Trump.
