Trust in traditional media has declined to an all-time low, and many news professionals are determined to do something about it.
Why it matters: Faith in society's central institutions, especially in government and the media, is the glue that holds society together. That glue was visibly dissolving a decade ago, and has now, for many millions of Americans, disappeared entirely.
By the numbers: For the first time ever, fewer than half of all Americans have trust in traditional media, according to data from Edelman's annual trust barometer shared exclusively with Axios. Trust in social media has hit an all-time low of 27%.

FTA - "News organizations have historically relied mainly on advertising income, and as those dollars flow increasingly to Google and Facebook, that has created institutional weakness that shows up in trust data."
As always is the case, follow the money.

And, it will continue to go lower and lower. We are tired of groupthink.

Seriously, 27% still trust the media? That many? Do they live under a rock or something?

I trust the media... to lie, distort, twist, spin, fabricate, or misrepresent just about everything so as to make dimocrats look good and conservatives look bad.

Yea... they are doing something about the trust factor. Lable Republicans as terrorists, suppress inconvenient truths and mock or censor opposing views.
"Trust" will be restored when all of the news is the same and all of the facts are agreed to. When the discussion is about painting a house, the only dissent will be what shade of paint the liberals have decided on is appropriate.

OK, they have no hope because as part of their effort they say, "Media outlets can continue to report reliable facts".
No, the media must start reporting reliable facts.
Further, they think that if the CEOs of the companies people work for will start telling the same lies that the media tells, people will start trusting the media again...no, people will stop trusting the CEO of their company.

OK, then. What is the truth? Is it what the media says it is? Do you see the problem here? I can tell you that it is the one-sided reporting by a bunch of young, know-nothing, empty skulled, woke reporters. You will never, ever regain our trust. When you lie just once, you have lost your credibility.

Ok, Axios, let's try this: who, what, where, when, how and sometimes (and only sometimes) why.
Then, let's try this: opinions are for editorial pages and not for news pages.
This is junior high school journalism. The (literal) clowns who read the news just desperately want to "shape" your opinion.

Those who now practice *journalism* see themselves as agents of change, active participants in forming a better, more just society and culture. Thus, objectivity is out and spin is in because, in the words of a particularly obnoxious female talking head, "It's our job to control what people think."
In response to that remark, let me just say: If I were wearing a drool bucket I'd still be sharper than you, blondie.

The Enemedia are one of the greatest dangers to our country, one of the largest group working to destroy the country.
And now, somehow people don't trust them? Gee, I wonder why that might be? /s off
And they suggest that we will and should trust CEO's of large globalist companies? That's a laugh. Those are the people funding the open borders folks, so that Americans can be fired and replaced with Mexicans, Hondurans and other illegal aliens who will work for less money and not complain about poor working conditions. And the big CEOs are the ones just chomping at the bit to ship more of our factories to China, again, so that they can make more money, and to hell with Americans who want a job.
My trust in CEOs is right in there with my trust of the Enemedia. The leftists and globalists have infected the government, schools, colleges, media and even the board rooms with folks who hate America as it was founded.
I trust NONE of them.
In the long run, even with all the wonderful long list of real, measurable good things that President Trump accomplished, I think that the unmasking of these traitors in government, big business, media, schools, colleges and board rooms may wind up being his greatest achievement.
We used to think, only a short while ago, that Republicans "were good people, on our side". I supported Bush the Jr very much. I was fooled, as were many more, but now we see that Bush, Romney, McCain are all absolutely interchangeable globalist elites who despise the average American and work for the Uniparty Corruptocrats who are also called the Deep State. One large evil cabal, with two slightly flavors, Repub and Dem, but no real differences.

Trust hits zero when people turn them off entirely. We never had the inauguration on at all. Not even for a single minute.

If the MSM had done its job, it would have quickly exposed the Russia Hoax and the Steele Dossier as the works of anti-American propaganda they were. Instead, reporters played along, accepted leaks from disloyal insiders in the FBI and IC, and forced Americans to endure a four year long witch hunt against their duly elected president.
In addition, the MSM continues to do nothing about the gratuitous smears against American citizens accused of being racists, white supremacists and an irredeemable basket of deplorables. In other words, the MSM actively participates in the demonization of law abiding Americans who have every right to demand their laws be enforced.
The MSM is now working to normalize the arrival of caravans of illegal aliens to the US, an even greater risk to our own citizens DURING A PANDEMIC. Americans who object to redirecting resources away from our citizens who need them, know they will be demonized for standing up for our own national interests.
The MSM is not trusted because it is consistently complicit in misleading the American public It helped Democrats get rid of the only president in decades who gave a rat's behind about middle class, and it's proud to have done so much harm to so many fellow citizens.
I don't usually take pleasure in reading about people losing their jobs, but I've begun to make an exception when MSM layoffs are announced.

The monotheistic media drones on & on with one voice, which is the lefties' propaganda. It never seems to occur to today's media to simply report the truth.
