Fascists are back in a very big way, and they are not who legacy media say they are. They are not who big tech says they are. They are not who the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and their minions say they are. The CCP itself is fascist, not communist, and has been fascist since Deng Xiaoping. The distinction is important, and without that distinction, it is vastly more difficult to deal with the most dangerous threats to freedom here and overseas. Fascism is far more resilient than communism. It is the wedding of markets and totalitarian governance, an attractive prospect for many oligarchs

And Antifa is perhaps the world's grandest scale of projection.

Hugh makes some valid points but also falls victim to some logical fallacies. For example, he notes that if your representatives don't defend your rights and freedoms, work to replace them. If nothing else, the 2020 election will be the last one where your vote mattered at all (such as it was). From here on out, the influx of immigrants being granted citizenship plus the addition of 2-3 new states and the elimination of the Electoral College will guarantee that no one other than those approved by the fascists will ever hold a substantive office.
Also, his admonition to go "local" with shopping and services is good but for how long? If the pandemic showed nothing else, it's that mom and pop stores are hanging on by a thread and soon all that may be left for you is Walmart and Target.
Also, the suggestion to get into "alternate" currencies is dependent on the whim of the fascist class - if they outlaw the ownership of precious metals (which has happened already in this country - Roosevelt's EO 6102 in 1933) these assets will be as useless as investments in "cryptocurrencies" like Bitcoin.
Finally, supporting organizations that investigate, expose, and document their fascist abuses will be great for our progeny when they ask "How did this happen?" but as long as there is no one in authority to put a stop to their pogroms, that's about as far as it will go. You can't shame the shameless.
So, the patriot's natural inclination would be to take up arms - surely we have more than them and a lot of current and former military types to assist in training? But should the fascists get even a subtle whiff of revolt, they will trample the Posse Comitatus Act even more quickly than they have the Constitution and other laws to bring Federal forces to bear on the "insurrectionists" and others practicing "sedition".
We are moving into a grim time. I fear for the younger members of my family who are raising children who may never know the freedoms we took for granted.

The idea that socialism and fascism are on opposite ends of the political spectrum has always been ludicrous. The right wing of the spectrum houses libertarianism, democratic republicanism, and anarchy. The left wing features Big Government bullies: Communism as by Stalin and Mao. Fascism compliments of Il Duce, Mussolini, and his wannabe acolyte, Adolf Hitler.
The distinction between the two lefties is that under communism, the government owns the business sector. Under fascism, the government and business work together hand in glove. Under both ideologies, the rights of the individual are ruthlessly crushed: No free speech, no freedom of religion, no right to bear arms, no right of peaceable assembly, no free market capitalism. Everything that is not prohibited is mandatory. Check your brains at the door and OBEY!

It is a dangerous illusion to think one can invite the ChiComs or their form of totalitarianism without the evil need to violate human rights. To paraphrase Ben Franklin; To prefer temporary safety to liberty is to end up with neither.

Must read. Your average garden variety left voting neighbor sees corporatism as the product of capitalism left too free when in fact it is the opposite. What we are seeing is the blending of government and business into a fascist cabal.
Look on any major corporate website and you'll see with rare exception endless wokeness drivel. They know the rules and today you must be woke compliant to the same extent you had to be Nazi compliant in the 1930's Germany. Gleichschaltung 2.0.

We had free speech until we rushed to pass "hate speech" laws, and that opened the season on all speech anyone declares unfit for utterance or print. Now some scream SEDITION! and it gets picked up for misuse and abuse. Oh, wait, what more can be shouted down or banned under penalty of law?

In the mid eighties I attended a local school board meeting where Federal funding for school libraries was on the agenda. I objected on the grounds that Fed money comes with Fed rules and restrictions. I was called a moron for wanting to turn down "free" money. I also came to realize that the teacher's union dominated the school board and taxpayer input was merely tolerated.
Most, if not all, corporations get some sort of federal funding and are subject to gov't controls. Facism lite

This is an excellent piece off commentary.
And, upon reflection, he is right on target. The Chinese Communist Party is no longer communist, they are fascist, in the literal, technical sense of the meanings of the two words.
His advice is good:
"Walk away from the worst of Silicon Valley. Get rid of Gmail, Chrome, and as much of Google as you can, including YouTube. Nobody needs Facebook or Twitter. Ditto Netflix. Avoid investing in wokish behemoths. Avoid buying their products, or when you do, buy second hand and not from them as “refurbished”."
Never, ever buy anything made in China, even if you have to pay much more to get it made elsewhere.
Google is evil, avoid everything that they do, all of your use makes them money, gives them their power.

#6, you are blaming the victim, probably out of ignorance.
Can you understand that these two sites you mentioned were threatened with being removed from the net if they didn't eliminate their comments? So, is it better for them to partial knuckle under to the fascist internet goons and still be available to read, or just say "we'll remain true to all our ideals, and go down and be gone, but proudly"?
Uninformed comments are embarrassing.

Alphabet, Twitter and Amazon are to Biden’s Democratic Socialist Party as Krupp, Flick Gruppe and IG-Farben were to Hitler’s National Socialist Workers Party.

Sounds like shaky ground. The article mentions that California. Oregon et al control(gasp) all the Pacific seaports for trade with China. F China. I don't speak Chinese and don't intend to learn. Let's talk turkey here.
The Republic of Texas approaches.
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, S Dakota, N Dakota, Montana, Alberta (Canada), Saskatchewan (Canada), Manitoba (Canada), and a few states along the sides. Let's go EAST. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida.
We have every warm water shipping port in The Gulf of Mexico, a good chunk of the south Atlantic and more oil than the Saudis ever dreamed of. California and New York can print their own money and if they want to trade with each other they can figure out how to get their trucks through Flyover Country or use Panama.
We WILL protect our borders ,north and south.

I am done with the parsing of fascist, socialist, communist, statist, progressive, Democrat. I sum it up in one word: enemies.
