U.S. President-elect Joe Biden is planning to cancel the permit for the $9 billion Keystone XL pipeline project as one of his first acts in office, and perhaps as soon as his first day, according to a source familiar with his thinking. President Donald Trump had made building the pipeline a central promise of his presidential campaign. Biden, who will be inaugurated on Wednesday, was vice president in the Obama administration when it rejected the project as contrary to its efforts to combat climate change.(Snip)The project, which would move oil from the province of Alberta to Nebraska, had been slowed by legal issues

Comments:

The voting machines demanded that America be put last, and Bidet is glad to comply.

What's the over/under on how many months until we see Obama-style $4 a gallon gas? We all saw what expensive gas did our economy in the past, and here it comes again.

Gas prices will skyrocket as they cut off domestic oil production which will mean we start importing oil from Saudi Arabia again. $5/gallon will seem cheap. This is designed to push people into electric vehicles. Just the beginning of higher costs for everything. Wait till they make minimum wage $15/hr then expect it to go up even higher.

Maybe this is an election fraud promise he made to his Chinese vote manipulators? China is constructing a pipeline from Alberta to BC and this is over a mountain range and the cool part, over major fault lines with no engineering experience. If the Keystone is completed it will be a lower cost per barrel transport to refined products on the Louisiana coast. But that reduces the supply to the riggers?

Reuters uses the tried-and-true method for keeping the masses in line - linking the cancellation to evil Trump. They expect a Pavlovian response that, if Trump was for it, it's bad. They will get the desired response from half the country. They also hide the level of anger this has created in Canada. One official called it "a punch in the face." Even Justin Trudeau is upset. Informing the masses that Biden is damaging relations with a key ally and trading partner does not fit the narrative of Joe rebuilding relations that Trump destroyed. When energy costs rise, they will be told to blame greedy energy companies. And the indoctrinated masses will fall in line.

We don't have a pipeline and I see gas prices at around two bucks, depending on state taxes. Demand for petroleum for the purpose of powering cars is never going to return to the halcyon days of the 1960s, gas-guzzlers. My car today cranks out over 300 hp and gets around 30 mpg on the highway at 70 mph. Like drilling an ANWR, the ability to produce oil with new tech, like fracking, makes this largely excess. Why drag oil across a continent when it can be brought to refineries from closer sources with already producing wells? Fact is, the traditional oil companies are getting deeply into alternatives, and profiting.

I haven't spent much time covering the long miserable slog that was the NY-22 House race where a small number of votes divided the Republican winner and the Democrat loser resulting in an extended process that involved a judge personally going over the votes, Democrat attempts to challenge every vote, and that dragged on until now. NY-22 is a demonstration of what a long and grueling process a forensic examination of the votes in one House race looks like. It's also been an extended class in Democrat election hypocrisy. [SNIP] Democrats are obviously allowed to make such arguments without being accused of incitement, sedition, or being deplatformed.
What can you do about the Trumpites next door? 31 replies

Oh, heck no. The Trumpites next door to our pandemic getaway, who seem as devoted to the ex-president as you can get without being Q fans, just plowed our driveway without being asked and did a great job. How am I going to resist demands for unity in the face of this act of aggressive niceness? Of course, on some level, I realize I owe them thanks — and, man, it really looks like the guy back-dragged the driveway like a pro — but how much thanks? These neighbors are staunch partisans of blue lives, and there aren't a lot of anything other than white lives in neighborhood. This is also kind of weird.

U.S. President Joe Biden signed an executive order Thursday that denies state and local governments any authority to reject the drop-off of refugees into their towns and communities. In essence, former President Donald Trump’s policy (Executive Order 13888 of September 2019) gave state and local governments a say in whether they have the capacity to provide refugees a pathway to become self-sufficient and successfully integrate into American society. Biden’s new executive order (EO) indicated that the federal government would consult with American communities across the country about refugees’ resettlement. The president’s “Executive Order on Rebuilding and Enhancing Programs to Resettle Refugees and Planning for the Impact of Climate Change on Migration” noted:

The Supreme Court lifted California's ban on indoor church services during the pandemic Friday, ruling that Gov. Gavin Newsom's strict orders violate the Constitution's protection for the free exercise of religion. The justices in a 6-3 decision granted an appeal from a south San Diego church that has repeatedly challenged the state restrictions on church services, including its ban on singing and chanting. The ruling overturned decisions by federal judges in San Diego and San Bernardino, and the 9th Circuit Court in San Francisco, which upheld the state's orders despite earlier warnings from the high court.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to hide her rising irritation as she abruptly ended her weekly press conference after snapping at reporters. The California Democrat testily called one reporter’s question simply a “waste of time” after being asked about former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial and then angrily responded to another query about stripping Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her House committees. Pelosi may have been wearing a mask as she held her weekly briefing, but her ebbing patience was on clear display as she appeared to be done with the questions towards the end of the meeting. The Democrat leader did not even bother to answer one reporter’s question about

Minnesota continues to face a serious threat of violence from white supremacists and other domestic terrorist groups, two of the state's top law enforcers said Friday. Staying ahead of potential incidents has become more difficult because supremacist groups are less organized and operate covertly underground on social media and the internet, said Michael Paul, special agent in charge of the FBI's Minneapolis Field Office. Paul, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and two other community experts spoke to more than 260 people at a virtual town hall about the "unmasking" of white supremacy. Ellison, who is Black and Muslim, discussed the near daily threats

Time begins by describing the trepidation that surrounded the 2020 election after a summer filled with left-wing violence and the concern that more violence would follow the election outcome.
