Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) announced Wednesday after the House voted to impeach President Donald Trump that he is against moving forward with the impeachment process in the Senate because the Senate “lacks the constitutional authority” to remove a former president.
Cotton expressed his opposition to impeachment proceedings in a statement Wednesday evening after the House voted that afternoon to impeach Trump a second time, passing one article of impeachment, 232–197, charging Trump with “incitement of insurrection” over last week’s riot in the U.S. Capitol.

Unfortunately it will be the seven "No standing" SCOTUS justices that will have the last word. tough times ahead.

This theater-of-the-absurd isn't going anywhere.
I'm not naive, I get that the clearly worded Constitution is irrelevant.
Their toothless House bit plays to their base and supports the media narrative. Jumping the Shark with a Senate trial does the opposite, (it did last time). And, the SCOTUS number one priority is preservation. Avoiding a Constitutional Crisis and armed citizens in the streets trumps their personal agendas, much like their personal agendas always trump the clearly worded Constitution.

Oh Tom, since when has the Constitution mean a darn thing to democrats and the Supreme Joke of the United States? For them, the Constitution is more like loose recommendations and FYI notices.

I'm not an Arkansas voter but I agree with #4. From what I had seen of his interviews on Fox, I considered him to be presidential material in 2024. No mas.

The whole process is a farce anyway. They all know that Donald Trump has not committed any crime, they just want to embarrass and ridicule him for the achievement of being the greatest President in American history and he did it by NOT being a dirty politician like the usual fare that Washington serves us. He still has 75 million loyal patriots out here and we have had enough of this kindergarten behavior by stupid and corrupt pieces of garbage who call themselves leaders. Keep pushing, you morons.

I think McConnell will hold firm on no Impeachment in The Senate. That way none of his Senators will have to VOTE on it! He knows any Senator who votes yes will be out next time they are up for re-election. This little rule in The Constitution will save their sorry Rear Ends. And, I agree with those who said Too Little, Too Late for Tom Cotton! He had his chance to stand and be counted on a Fraudulent Election and he chose not to! Too Bad. I too thought he was going to be a good candidate for President! If we couldn't trust him to stand with his Party then, how can we trust him to do so if he's President? We can't!

Are the democrats likely to be more successful with the current 116th Congress or are they more likely to impeach with the 117th Congress? Only 50 Senate Republicans in the 117th with Kamala Harris as the tie breaker. McConnell may have done no favors by kicking this nonsense down the road.

Cotton, you lost me on the day you voted against Trump. An impeachment without hearings, no witnesses, no lawyer to represent the accused......

Cotton has turned out to be an opportunist. He has changed my mind and has lost all respect I had for him. Get lost.
