On Sunday, House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) said that, while House Democrats would take up articles of impeachment this week against President Trump, the House might delay sending to the Senate any articles passed by the House until after President-elect Biden’s first 100 days in office.(Snip)
Once Trump’s term ends on Jan. 20, Congress loses its constitutional authority to continue impeachment proceedings against him — even if the House has already approved articles of impeachment.
Therefore, if the House of Representatives were to impeach the president before he leaves office, the Senate could not thereafter convict the former president and disqualify him under the Constitution from future public

To those ten gutless Reps who voted for the continuing coup, all ten will be out of work come June 2022.
“Primary, in the name of President Trump!” will be the battle cry.

Exactly.
Crazy Nancy has her lunatic second swipe, but it only proves how evil and crazy she is. She has proven how hateful and vindictive a witch she is.
Trump did NOTHING the first time and NOTHING the second time to deserve this nastiness.
The Best President of My Lifetime, and nothing that these low life, corrupt, treasonous pukes can do can undo one bit of the great things that he did.

If they can convert a mandate to a tax. Deny a sitting President standing on his own case, they can do anything. This is Amerika.

By the time this gets to the Supreme Court, it will have 38 justices, 29 appointed by Biden.

Constitution: When the President of the United States is tried...
So I guess if The House Impeaches Trump, then Biden can be tried.

Nobody wants this to go to trial, even if it could. It would open floodgates that have been kept closed since 2015, exposing all sorts of suppressed dirt to the public. One can bet Chief Justice Earl Warren Roberts will be ruling on objection over objection...and the whole UNIPARTY comedy will be exposed.

The Democrats know Trump is still President, which is why they fear him. Democrats talk about violence, because they have left the people without any access to speech, the courts, jobs, healthcare, or the schools, and the Democrats are afraid of the people for what they have done. Tyrants always have a bevy of doubles and food tasters.

The whole notion that Trump instigated the riot is bogus. Think about it for a minute. People don't travel from all over the country and at the last moment decide they will break into the capital building. They planned it in advance, and Trump had nothing to do with that. Impeachment v.2 is completely dishonest. Anyone voting for impeachment is either being dishonest or incredibly ignorant. There is no moral high ground to defend since Trump never id anything wrong.

This is a serious question: If President Trump would declassify what he can, would that be a help to him, or is that a lost cause? If nothing helps, then as suggested on other threads, he should pardon himself. his family, and those loyal to him. Let the democrats/rinos then stew in their own hate.

The idea that the democRATS can't do something is so ridiculous. There are no rules, laws, or regulations in the democRAT world. There is only power, getting it, keeping it, and destroying anything and anyone that gets in the way. Every hour they demonstrate just who, and what, they fear.
I will never, ever forget just after Trump took office. He invited Pelousy, Schumer, etc into the Oval Office. He had many cameras and reporters present to show everyone just how above board he is. Pelousy immediately stated 'well, we can't negotiate (lie) with all these people and cameras present.' That one moment spoke volumes.

Michael Luttig was on the short list for Supreme Court justices under Bush. I wish he had been nominated instead of Roberts. But the point is, he is a very well-respected former judge. His opinion means a lot. If the Senate tries to take up impeachment after Trump leaves office, Trump should file suit to stop it. It is a jurisdictional question that requires interpretation of the Constitution, something appropriate for the Supreme Court to address.
