Michael Sherwin, acting U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said that his office has started a federal, excessive force investigation over the shooting and killing of former U.S. Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol on Jan. 6. Sherwin confirmed the investigation with CBS News. His civil rights section will lead the prosecution, which is being investigated by D.C. police and the FBI. The Epoch Times hasn’t been able to independently verify the investigation. The U.S. Attorney Office of the District of Columbia refused to comment on the reported investigation.

Comments:

Young Baranyi’s description was sadly lacking. A video being taken on someone’s iPhone showed her trying to get past men blocking her view through the windows in the door into the Speaker’s Lobby. She was finally boosted up by a man and was not crawling through the window which had large shard of broken glass still in place, but was said to be putting her cell phone through the open area at the top of the pane. Hands holding a handgun suddenly came out from a doorway on the left in the Speaker’s Lobby, then the shooter lunged forward toward her and fired off several shots. The video caught her falling backward into the same area where she and all the others had been. Had she been crawling through the window in the door, she’d have fallen inside the frame and been impaled on the large glass shard that was still fixed in the bottom of the frame. But she wasn’t climbing through. Her killer was close enough - only a few feet - to see that she was not through the broken window pane and was unarmed.

Sadly, most will believe there will be a whitewash and she will be blamed for her death. That is the sad state of affairs in our country now. Abject cynicism and mistrust of our institutions. RIP, Ms. Babbitt...

Why isn't the officer in jail? This was an assassination. At LEAST under suspension while there is an investigation. Why don't we have his name any photos?

I usually don’t watch videos such as this. But I did. I don’t know how much context i had or didn’t have. But she seemed to be accompanied by police officers with assault rifles; at any rate they were right behind her. A very odd situation. Then to shoot her through a door (with glass for the upper half) or window .... I don’t understand what was going on. The cops didn’t even get to her on the floor to try to give her first aid or talk to her or be with her. The area was crowded. Lots of people shouting. And she was lying there. Pelosi has a lot to answer for.

We need to know who the shooter was. Why is it being kept secret? What are they hiding? We have had police encounters with rioters all over, and no shootings. I remember Jack Ruby jumping out from nowhere and shooting Oswald. That is what this video looked like to me. An assassination, not any law enforcement. There was no warning, no threat. We have a secret government. The people are told nothing except government propaganda, which the government feels will not harm you, but the truth would.

There was no legal justification for law enforcement to kill this woman. This was an act of murder and the shooter should be sacked and sent to prison.

Investigated by D.C. Police and the FBI, one of whom fired the shot. We have seen this scenario before and it will go nowhere. There was video posted of the guy in a suit who fired the Glock he was pointing at Ashli.

Re #3, the upper part of that glass door pane had already been broken out. A large lower portion remained. She was boosted up to use her cell phone through the open upper part. She was behind the open part when she was murdered.

There's a total news blackout on the shooter. We always had names & faces of the cops BLM was protesting, doxed within hours. Here, they've completely clamped down. I want to know, Was he even a sworn officer? Was he an aide? A congressman? FBI Secret Service? Capitol Hill Police? Lots of yelling about "5 dead" in the day's events, but this was the only deliberate fatality with no medical origin.

The man who murdered Ashli needs to be identified and prosecuted. Looks a lot like Waco and Ruby Ridge where all of the guilty escaped prosecution.

US-China Strategic Rivalry Plays Out in Pakistan 5 replies

U.S. interests in Pakistan include maintaining stability in South Asia, preventing war between India and Pakistan, containing international terrorism launched from Afghanistan, as well as countering the Chinese regime’s expanding influence and alliance building. Once the primary U.S. ally in the region, as Pakistan sinks deeper into China’s orbit, U.S.-Pakistan relations become more and more ambiguous. Pakistan is also slipping deeper into debt and regional stability is threatened. Chinese leader Xi Jinping first announced the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during a 2015 visit to Islamabad. He spoke of a long-term vision for Pakistan’s development, pledging between $40 and $60 billion of investments.

Kellogg and the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union failed to reach a new contract agreement, leading to the planned change. “We have made every effort to reach a fair agreement, including making six offers to the union throughout negotiations, all which have included wage and benefits increases for every employee. It appears the union created unrealistic expectations for our employees,” Chris Hood, president of Kellogg North America, said in a recent statement.
