New thought crime:
calling Stacey Abrams ‘fat’

Original Article

A football coach for the University of Tennessee has been fire after posting a now-deleted tweet mocking Stacey Abrams as fat. (snip) So horrifying was this rude characterization that the chancellor of the University put out a video denouncing it as “hateful, hurtful, and untrue.” [Video embed](snip) I’ll concede that the tweet was hateful and hurtful (as is being called a racist, rhetoric we hear on campuses nearly every day), but the good Chancellor was not specific as to what was untrue. (snip) Does he mean that Stacey Abrams is not fat? (snip) George Orwell understood why a political system would want to force people to affirm obvious untruths.

It's impossible to ban what people think. You might say we can't call stacey fat, but you can't stop us from thinking stacey's fat. Stacey's fat, and that's a fact. When the blind leads the blind, they all fall into the ditch.

When will people learn to stop ruining their careers with a stupid tweet? Saying something like "Stacy Abrams so fat that when she wears her Malcolm X jacket, helicopters try to land on her" is a horrible mean thing to say about somebody.

Perhaps we could take the example of Julianne Malveaux, a liberal journalist, who on television remarked about Justice Clarence Thomas: "Malveaux’s loathing of Thomas grew uglier. “You know, I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease.” When conservative Betsy Hart protested, Malveaux wouldn’t back down. “Well, that’s how I feel. He is an absolutely reprehensible person.” " Change the genders and the names, and it could be Stacey Abrams. Heart disease is becoming a greater and greater concern for black women, as well. Especially the morbidly obese.

The movie Minority Report sure nailed this current political climate well. I guess it is time to take another look at it maybe, just for more tips as to what to be aware of from the Left. So after all the years of the media pushing all manner of articles about what constitutes fat, obesity and so on, we can't actually look at examples of people in the news and call them what they are now? All righty then.

We are living in what seem to me to be terribly fraught times, times that are even more worrisome than those at the height of Cold War tensions, when we schoolchildren were drilled on what to do in case of a nuclear attack--an attack that was in fact highly unlikely to occur. Why do I say this? What are these overweening concerns? Many relate to government policies. The Biden administration seems hell bent on reversing every Trump administration policy, even those policies that were quite successful.

Americans need to get their kids back in school. Where there are powerful teachers’ unions, though, the teachers have discovered the joys of a bunny slipper commute, a minimal workday, and a full paycheck. When NBC’s Savannah Guthrie pressed Kamala Harris on the new administration’s plan to restart classroom learning, Harris replied with non-responsive, meaningless, double talk. Had she been auditioning for an Irwin Corey homage, it would have impressive. As it was, it showed both an administration and a vice president that are incompetent.

It’s like some creepy horror story: Whenever Biden gives a speech, there’s an almost spectral figure standing behind him. It doesn’t take too much imagination to liken that figure to Grim Reaper, waiting for Biden’s appointment with his final destiny. Of course, it’s not the Grim Reaper; it’s merely Kamala Harris, who’s clearly being prepped to take over as president in Biden’s place as soon as possible. As part of this obvious agenda, Harris is already handling some of Joe’s major foreign policy telephone calls. Here are screenshots of multiple Biden appearances during his first three weeks in the White House. In each, there’s that creepy, dark-clad Kamala standing behind him

With the 2020 election in the rear-view mirror, it is timely to focus on election politics for 2022 and beyond. The first step is pattern recognition: The Democrats are pursuing a multi-prong strategy to cement a permanent majority. To accomplish the goal requires upending the constitutional design. Until the scope of this effort is seen in its entirety, it can proceed in the shadows. It has six astonishing elements: Enable Congress to determine who can run for President, Eliminate the Electoral College without amending the Constitution, Override the states' constitutionally mandated authority to determine presidential election rules,

President Donald Trump turned down his former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley after she requested a meeting at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, according to a report. Politico’s Playbook reported details of the meeting request, citing a “source familiar” with the incident. Haley criticized Trump extensively in a Politico magazine article, even suggesting that his political relevance was over. “I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture. I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far,” she said. “We need to acknowledge he let us down. He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him.”

“I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture. I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.” Thus spoke Nikki Haley -- former South Carolina governor, former ambassador to the UN, and now presidential aspirant -- exposing once again her self-serving bona fides. In denigrating Donald Trump, the establishment Republican ended up revealing to Trump’s loyal base of 75-80 million supporters just how much she is motivated by opportunism. Also, just how out of touch she is with the rank and file. Haley’s betrayal of President Trump took the form of a forceful condemnation: “We need to acknowledge he let us down.

FEMA has delivered only 60 generators to assist Texas residents, even though hundreds of thousands remain without power for the sixth day in a row. President Joe Biden’s homeland security advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall said Thursday that FEMA had sent 60 generators to assist Texas localities without power. “Specifically, in Texas [FEMA] has made 60 generators and fuel available to support critical sites like hospitals and water facilities,” Sherwood-Randall said during the White House press briefing, even as she acknowledged that 600,000 people in the state of Texas remain without power. Earlier in the week, as many as eight million residents in the south-central part of the country

Washington—University of California faculty delighted at the death of conservative radio legend Rush Limbaugh hours after his passing Wednesday, calling him a “one-man hate industry” in an email pitching themselves as “Rush Limbaugh experts” for media interviews. Three professors from the University of California, Riverside appeared to celebrate Limbaugh’s death after he lost his battle with lung cancer at age 70, claiming that “America is objectively a better place without Rush in it.” “For decades, Rush Limbaugh made millions trafficking in racism, sexism, and xenophobia,” creative writing professor and former CNN employee Reza Aslan said in the email distributed by the university’s PR department

New York City health officials issued new guidance Thursday to prevent the spread of coronavirus—and its growing number of variants—urging people to wear two masks now, instead of just one. The new recommendations came from both Mayor de Blasio and city Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi amid growing concerns over more contagious coronavirus mutations. “Of all the things that we’ve learned in this crisis, maybe the most profound is the power of a mask,” de Blasio said at his Thursday morning press briefing.(Snip) The city’s recommendation comes several days after the Centers for Disease and Control issued similar guidelines
