The New York Times has a story about a young man, Jimmy Galligan, who is an example of the kind of moral monsters this culture of ours has created.
His mother is black, his father white. He went to high school in Leesburg, Va. Four years ago, a girl in his class, Mimi Groves, used an antiblack racial slur in a Snapchat video lasting three seconds, and sent privately to a friend. Somebody showed him the clip. He saved it, and waited for his chance.
Mr. Galligan had not seen the video before receiving it last school year, when he and Ms. Groves were seniors. By then, she was a varsity

The New York Times writer (article linked in posted article) clearly approves of what Jimmy Galligan did to this girl, who was a friend in high school, and who had apologized years ago for the video. The NYT article ends:
For his role, Mr. Galligan said he had no regrets. “If I never posted that video, nothing would have ever happened,” he said. And because the internet never forgets, the clip will always be available to watch.
“I’m going to remind myself, you started something,” he said with satisfaction. “You taught someone a lesson.”
Disclosed in that article is the fact that Jimmy’s father is a white former law enforcement officer. Included in that article is a conversation where Jimmy tells his father that HE has white privilege. Jimmy looks to be gay as well as light-skinned, light-haired black. I’d say he is a very sick puppy.

I think Jimmy will find out that the knife cuts both ways. Who would want to hire him with this internet history?

"Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the Spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, and yet this produced in them no tendency whatever to rebel against the discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the Party and everything connected with it…. All their ferocity was turned outwards, against the enemies of the State, against foreigners, traitors, saboteurs, thought-criminals. It was almost normal for people over thirty to be frightened of their own children. And with good reason, for hardly a week passed in which The Times did not carry a paragraph describing how some eavesdropping little sneak -- 'child hero' was the phrase generally used -- had overheard some compromising remark and denounced its parents to the Thought Police." 1984, George Orwell

He is not a moral monster. He is a certified hero. His sole ethic is to promote himself, and hurt as many other people as he can along the way. He has no sympathy, no empathy, and no love. He is an exemplar to the left. He will destroy many lives during his life. That is his goal: do harm. Do much harm. He will be the Person of the Year for Time.
The liberal left worships persons like these.

Has anyone had the decency to offer the young woman a job? Maybe Roddy Dreher could hire her as a PA for $50k/year as a gesture of decency. Or despite all the talk is everyone terrified little twisted Jimmy et al.?

White people cannot walk the street at night in many parts of Chicago; Washington, DC; Los Angeles; St. Louis, etc, lest they be shot because of their skin color. Being addressed by a forbidden word pales in comparison.
I eagerly await the day when blacks rise up and condemn their fellow blacks for their blatant, overt. hateful racism.

While Jimmy's actions were pathetic and showed his absolute childish hatred, the actions of the college are worse in my opinion. The actions of the college and of Jimmy are far worse than that of the girl, especially in the fact that neither the college nor Jimmy see anything wrong with what they did.

Gee, it would be a darned shame if Mimi Groves pulled a Christine Blasey Ford on Galligan, and suddenly remembered that he had attempted to rape her when she was a mere child of 15. Maybe she could get him cancelled, threatened, kicked out of his college . . .

#8, I don't think anyone would believe Jimmy tried to rape a woman. Just sayin'.

So, if this 1-time private snapchat was sent to 1 personal friend how did it it get out on the internet. I thought private messages were private? Maybe that friend is not indeed a friend.

What about the University of Tennessee? Nice to see a state and national funded school fold to simple pressure. Funny, I seem to to remember a few cases where UT football players accused of rape where not treated in such a manner.

Well, the bi-racial Jimmy Galligan better not ride the DC/MD/VA subway system, at least on certain lines, as he will be overwhelmed by the number of times he will overhear the n word.

'Ms. Groves’s parents, who said their daughter was being targeted by a social media “mob” for a mistake she made as an adolescent,...'
She didn't make a mistake.
She used Freedom of Speech.
She used a word that offends people who say offensive things every day.
Everything the left does and says offends me deeply and completely.
How about you? you like what they're doing?
Jimmy Galligan seems to be the kind of person who wakes up every day looking to "get" someone.
A regular steaming little pile of Kaepernick.
I don't care about his feelings.
I don't care about the feelings of the Speech Police.
I don't care about your feelings.
Fact: We're all going to be gone in mere seconds.
Freedom of Speech needs to be forever and always, and everywhere.
If they can take one word, they can take every word.
A word they use everyday.
And how will you fight back then, when it's too late?

FTA: Another reader writes: I would add that it is ironic that Jimmy Galligan chose and was accepted to a Christian university. I do not pretend to speak for Christianity, but I am certain the principles of vengeance, cruelty and sadistic pleasure in one’s pain is anathema to the tenets of that faith.
Chances are, they're proud to have him at their school.

Just goes to show that there is a racially based “dark age” population in the USA. If you are not a member of that population, but dabble in it, or use a word that is routinely used by that population group to describe themselves, you are bound to be burned somewhere along the line. It’s best to ignore that population group and go about your business. Who needs “a friend” who at anytime could stab you in the back for some racial or social cause.

From Dr Jaime Anne Earnest's Twitter quote, embedded within the article: "You can debate the weight of that word and the rationality of that debate all you want. I have no interest. The bottom line is that this is the social framework, and if you flippantly violate it, and there are costs. Oh well."
I thought the First Amendment was the only "framework" that matters. Is THE "social framework" only what progressives want it to be? I guess that's a question only for Twitter users to answer but they should not be able to change our Constitutional framework without going through the amendment process. In my estimation, the University of Tennessee should pay a price ($) for running off the young Groves lady by intimidating her and her parents over an intemperate remark (a single ugly word) made when she was 15 years old.
