The Real Stakes of the War on Christmas

This year the annual attacks on Christmas went beyond complaints about holiday salutations or public creches. Blue-state governors and mayors like California’s Gavin Newsom and government clerks like Anthony Fauci have issued diktats forbidding even private celebrations of Christmas by more than one family at a time. These orders follow on this year’s lockdown protocols that made liquor stores, pot dispensaries, and violent protests “essential,” while church services were verboten.
These assaults on faith illustrate how far secularism has infiltrated our culture.
All those who hate Christians and Christmas should volunteer to work Christmas Day. Any takers ?

The war on Christmas, as the author points out, is really a war against God. Marxist progressive communists are unable to recognize any power other than their own. They claim Holy Scripture is the equivalent of Grimm's Fairy Tales, but deep in their minds and the remains of their shriveled souls they recognize the power of God. They display it with their hatred. If they really believed there was nothing to this "God thing" they would not be so relentless in their rebellion. It is instructive to remember that Lucifer and all the fallen angels were already citizens of Paradise; they chose to rule in hell rather than serve in Heaven.
In every age evil forces have turned men's hearts, minds and souls from God's plan for authentic humanity towards rebellion and worship of an ideal "perfectable man". This is the eternal struggle, the history of mankind. The wheat is separated from the chaff through persecution. For Christians, we have the great opportunity to try our souls in the flames of Jesus' Sacred Heart. For two millennium persecution has draws more people to Christ and His Church.

The left won’t be satisfied until all Christians are reduced to worshipping quietly in darkened basements and scratching the outline of a fish in the dust to let others know we passed this way.

Christmas Eve began the night people spent the night in the open air with what accommodation they could find. Others sought them out.
If churches will not open fully, hold church elsewhere and dare the government jackboots and the cowards in the clergy to do something about it.

It's a dilemma for the big atheist hollywood corporations and big box stores who would like to stamp out the reason for Christmas but have always enjoyed the income from higher sales and movie specials. It's hard to get people excited with "Happy Holidays."

Was lucky to hear the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah the other day on car radio. Really lifts your heart!
"And He shall reign forever and ever;
and He shall reign forever and ever.
King of Kings, forever and ever;
And Lord of Lords, forever and ever. "
So hard to get the Christmas spirit this year, so i am going to call up Hallelujah Chorus and listen to it again, because it is so full of joy. Progressivism is so absolutely joyless. I might even listen to all of The Messiah.
" ... remember His holy covenant, the oath He swore to our father Abraham,
To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear." Luke 1, vs. 72-74
"And He shall reign forever and ever."

Go to Church anyway without tickets and make them turn this into a Supreme Court case.

Did anyone noticed that the Salvation Army was not having their kettle drive this year? The Covid Gestapo probably didn't allow it.

The swampy covid quarantine enforcers cannot prevent any of us from holding our own private worship services in our homes, with prayers, scripture reading, and Christmas carols. We can also provide personal service and donations to the needy--directly to anyone we know is in need, or through trustworthy charitable organizations. You don't have to be in a Church building to worship God.

They won't even be able to pry Christmas out of my heart when it is cold, dead and buried. So there. I expect the godless to keep trying. It's what they do.

I agreed with a lot of this but not “From the crooked timber of humanity nothing straight can be made.” proof of concept, Mary the mother of Jesus. It is interesting to see, actually, just how important that doctrine is. Seems so irrelevant yet here it is standing in the breach to defend the notion that humanity per se, has nothing intriniscally crooked. Nothing wrong with humanity per se. What we are is fine and good. Most have sinned and fallen short, but it is not the design and inwardness of what it is to be human, that is at fault

My priest is wonderful...he is a true Catholic... he celebrates Mass every Sunday and the church keeps filling up he sounds like Peter... the Rock...... the word is out in my community and the pews are straining with non Catholics participating as well...the archdiocese has issued letters of concern... but my priest said..."no one will be turned away"...and he means it....he sounds like Peter... the Rock...

#9, I went to the supermarket this morning for last minute supplies and saw only the second bell ringer I have seen this year. As I did the first time, I put a large bill in the bucket and chatted with the man ringing the bell. He said it had been really tough this year and the SA is hurting. If you see a bell ringer, give as much as you can.
Merry and blessed Christmas!

Merchants have happy holidays, letting Christmas go. But the reason we have Christmas is that it is Christmas, and the merchants make 50% of their annual earnings Christmas, and they are not letting that go.

They renamed it "holiday" around 2005. Their commercials say the word "holiday" numerous times. Rarely is Christmas allowed or mentioned. "Go buy our stuff, but we won't acknowledge what you buy it for."

Our church never stopped offering public Masses, even when we had to split into 4 or 5 simultaneous outdoor areas, and then when we have an indoor and an outdoor at the same time, for those who prefer one or the other during the covid confusion.
After every Mass now is a rosary, praying for religious freedom and justice in elections. The political fix is so entrenched that only divine mercy seems capable of affecting the result. A.M.D.G., indeed.

My father will be unable to attend Midnight Mass this Christmas because he didn't check in on the website in time and they ran out of tickets. We live in Florida and tickets to Mass are still being parsed out like concert tickets to see a washed up former radio star!! ENOUGH, already!!
