LOS ANGELES — California Gov. Gavin Newsom has had a rough year. The next one might be even tougher as a recall effort appears to be gaining momentum, fueled partly by outrage over the first-term Democrat dining with friends at an opulent restaurant while telling state residents to spurn social gatherings and stay home.
It’s not uncommon in California for residents to seek recalls but they rarely get on the ballot — and even fewer succeed. Several launched against Newsom faded but another attempt is drawing greater attention as his fortunes change while he enters a critical stretch in his governorship.

Star Dimmed? I always thought of this greedy, immoral communist punk as a spin off of the Planet Uranus.

So freakin' what?!?!?!
This is Cubafornia. If they did recall him, they would just replace him with someone even worse. It's no like a nice conservative is waiting for his turn to be governor. I'm guessing you would go from a hard core lie-beral like Newsom to a full-blown Commie who will promise all the free stuff the peasants could ever want!!!

Could face a recall? How about could face a jail time along with his looney AG from San Fran. Getting recalled might be the his safe way out.

Not only is Newsom cocky and arrogant with his petty rules but he is also stunningly incompetent. A smart governor would have done something years ago about the state's forest mismanagement. An intelligent governor would have told the greenies to go stuff themselves and that people were being killed by their 'natural' forest ideas. But no, he keeps coming up with ever more crackpot ideas like banning gasoline-burning cars. I don't think he has a clue about where the electricity to charge them will come from. It won't be wind or solar and the bankrupt PG&E won't be able to provide it. By the way, Gavin, how's that high-speed train project coming along?

I have been a member of this website for a very long time. I'm a native Californian. I never post, I prefer to read others posts. TODAY I HAVE HAD IT. #4 do you live in California??? If not then shut the hell up!!! You all have no idea what life is like as a conservative republican in this state. I'm so sick and tired of reading crap about California from people who don't live here. PRAY for us instead of writing crap!!!

I happily signed the recall petition against Gruesome Nuisance at a pre-election Trump rally. Fittingly, I used the top of the public trash can to support the page. There were over 100 of us. The petition circulator had a good afternoon!
Free California!

Newsom has Dominion and the Democrat criminal enterprise to count the votes, and rule on his recall. Newsom does not need voter support.

#7 - Thank you! I can no longer tolerate the California bashing. It also goes for the other "blue" states that have been taken over by commie dictators. The most offensive comments are those that dismiss fellow American's sufferings like, "They voted for it and deserve to get it good and hard." We didn't vote for it! We voted against giving illegals welfare; the commies took it to the courts and our votes were stolen from us. We voted to keep marriage between a man and a woman; the commies took it to the courts and our votes were stolen from us again. Our own state Republicans allowed the jungle primary proposition to get on the ballot, and did nothing to fight against it because they assumed they would always be one of the top two while disenfranchising the alternative parties.
The Uniparty used California/New York/Illinois as templates for the rest of the country, and you all just had the experience of having all your votes stolen. Did any of you help us fight when senate seats and governors were "recounted" out of their legitimate wins? No, those were just local/state issues. The level of fraud we saw on November 3rd was the culmination of the commie Deep State's state-by-state fraud they've been perfecting for thirty years. According to some compassion deficient Red Staters; Biden won the election and therefore you must have voted for him...and deserve to get it good and hard. Hard to hear when the shoe is on the other foot, eh?
We get enough schift from the commies, it would be nice to not get it here.

Was thinking earlier today -
Had I met Newsom and his friends at that birthday party at the French Laundry I would have thrown a bowl of gazpacho over a bunch of them. Ruined their evening and their outfits. Then let them sue me or arrest me or whatever complaint they wanted to level and just let them try to act like victims.
It's about time people like this started to feel the pain that they have caused as they destroy the lives of so many many people.

I’m with #7 and #9 and 13. There are no bigger bores than the California bashers who incessantly show their ignorance. Stupid attacks on a state where there are 5+ million Republicans (how many in your state?). Lack of information. It apparently takes their minds off their own troubles. As in “Texas is turning blue” and other assorted plagues that are out there in the media but rarely admitted. I’ll take our beautiful state. Newsom is not forever - over any other in the Union. We have ridden out worse than Newsom and enjoyed the Reagan Days. It would be nice if we could do it among friends.
Really sickening are the names for us that they think are cute. Has anyone here ever seen a Californian badmouth another state? Alter its name to make it sound bad or even obscene? Doesn’t take much intelligence to do that… We don’t do it.

I've signed the petition and hope it gets the number it needs. While there is no Republican that could knock Newsom off his perch Newsom's opponent needn't be a Republcan. During the successful recall of Gray Davis the successor contest was actually between Schwarzenegger and a Democrat contender, whose name I cannot remember. I will vote for any Democrat who takes Newsom on.

I regrettably still live in California a state that has been dominated by one party (Democrat) rule for several years. Gavin Newsom, like the good tyrant he is, has imposed draconian lockdowns that are destroying the economy even faster than the states extremely high tax rate. All you small business owners and restaurant owners in the state that have consistently voted for Democrats like Newsom and are crying now about losing you businesses remember that you get what you vote for.

The Left are living large in CA, enjoying the perks of majority rule, and anybody to the right of Fidel Castro might as well send our votes to /dev/null.
