Minneapolis City Council on Thursday approved a controversial budget which is set to move $8million of funding from the police—despite record crime rates since the May death of George Floyd. Mayor Jacob Frey, who had threatened to veto the entire budget if the council went ahead with a plan to cap police staffing, said the vote was a defining moment for the city which was the first to be hit by anti-police protests following the death of Floyd. The city has been plagued by soaring violent crime since then—with homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft and arson all up on last year's figures.

After seeing all the fraud in this last election, I'm not sure if the citizens there are really stupid or just caught in a web of deceit. I feel sorry for those who did not vote for this madness and are too destitute to leave.

When the George Floyd police officers go on trial I suspect half the city will leave town. The remaining cops won't have a chance against the raging mob if (when?) the verdict doesn't go their way.

$8 million doesn't buy much. How much did they cut before that?

They chose this course to hell on earth, and they continue to rush down the road to violence and death. I have no sympathy for them. The people, or the ones who bother to vote, have selected these destructive, deadly leftists to represent them.
The only issue is whether the elections have been so thoroughly rigged that the "elected" officials aren't actually who the people voted for. This is possible.
The problem, from the viewpoint of a person living in a state hundreds of miles away, is that I don't want the folks who have chosen to destroy Minneapolis moving to my state and doing the same damage here when they arrive.

See how that works? Fewer police leads to increased crime. Who would have thought? Now, talking about getting a private police vs. a unionized police force is another discussion.

Unfortunately these days it appears that only a person approaching moron status would apply to join the Minneapolis PD, as common sense will tell you that once out on the streets, you would be bound to sooner or later become involved in a violent resistance situation involving the Black criminal element where escalating force becomes necessary to apprehend such criminals, which sooner or later will end up getting you thrown off the PD, with serious criminal charges being lodged against you for simply doing your job.

They just keep doubling down on stupid, don't they? Pretty soon they're won't be any taxpayers left, so the entire city will effectively be "defunded." Buy-bye Minneapolis.

Only 160 cops retired or quit? Unless you're a year or short of your pension (and then I'd find a medical reason to go on 100% disability fast), the number leaving the department should be approaching 100%.
And I'd fail any new recruit on the psychology part of the test that applies. Because you'd have to be crazy to apply for that job.

YEAAAAA, and the winters coming to Minneapolis. don't envy the remaining personnel on the department one single bit. they should allll resign and let the politicians answer the domestic calls and the murder calls and the automobile incidents. there are plenty of departments who are looking for seasoned police officers all over this country, they would have not trouble finding a good job somewhere else. this way Shar'ia law will be the law of the land in Minneapolis.

Re: # 8, the budget for the MPD is $179m. Same thought I had they are just tossing out a bone to give the rats something to chew on. You know there is always bloat in any government budget. Spend or lose it.
