TV advertisers may be preparing to turn the NFL’s biggest game into the “Social Justice Bowl” with hours of woke commercials and messaging.
If reports on the ads coming for Super Bowl LV are to be believed, the funny and heartwarming ads, the cute kids and heroic animals will be running alongside Black Lives Matter themes.
Along with social justice activism, advertisers may be preparing commercials filled with coronavirus messaging as well, according to Front Office Sports.
Bill Oberlander, the co-founder of the social justice ad agency OBERLAND, insisted that marketers can no longer “duck” racial, social, and political issues.
“It’s going to be ‘Black Lives Matter,’ it’s going to be COVID.

The more sports I watch, the more identity politics I see being supported by "sports" leagues and less I am interested in watching "sports".

Few beyond the lives that matter or the sports bettors will tune in and the latter won't have to do even that to get what they want from the games.

Have at it! You already have the least viewers in History. So why not knock down those numbers, by the thousands, more! Most of us are already sick of seeing 100% of TV Commercials with Black Actors. Apparently there are no longer White Folks Available to fill those slots! Now ALL Sports are Majority Black Players , so I guess it's just right that they should have a Super Bowl Half Time for Black Viewers, because White Viewers are no longer watching! It's come to that! America is now the White vs Black residents of the Country. No longer are people just happy to have a wonderful country to live in. Now, if the Blacks want something, they just take it by Riots, Looting and Burning down businesses. Wake up America! The Young, White Women who are marching with BLM and ANTIFA are so "Woke" (which really means stupid) that they don't realize they are marching to have everything of THEIRS taken away as well. It's just a matter of time! Meanwhile Us Seniors are sitting back and watching this destruction taking place and most of us are happy our days are numbered! We know that The Best times in America are behind us! Sad, but True!

The NFL imagines there really are 80 million Democrats ~ who Love BLM and AntiFA ~ and football.
Not likely there are, but the guys at NFL are remarkably stupid, even for superannuated alcoholic football players.

Re: ads. One LDotter commented several weeks ago that we would think 90% of the population is black, based on TV ad content. I may add that one would suspect a high number of interracial marriages too. White man, black woman. Which is seldom the norm. Not racist, just an observation.

I admit to being a paleface from birth. I was not reared to be a racist, I joined the Boy Scouts and was instructed that to "do a good turn daily" applies to all demographic groups. I enjoyed sports when they were a diversionary entertainment from the essentials of life. But I can no longer tolerate the excessive doses of "white guilt" that are continuously heaped on me by the providers of sporting events. I realized that these performers are not "sportsmen", but are overpaid employees--many that enjoy more income in a season than some of their fans will earn in a lifetime. As such, I no longer find enjoyment in attaching myself with the social indoctrination that professional sports has devolved to.

The only people I feel sorry for is the consessionaires who spend money for crap made in China to sell at the games and on food that nobody will buy. The team owners have it coming to them, and possibly the one or two players who gave up their youth and fitness to have it kneed in their groin by ingrates.

I haven't seen an nfl game in three years since Kaepie started his kneeling habit. The nfl owners are hemorrhaging money, lots of money these days. I don't think the nfl will be around much longer. Super Bowl LV sounds more like a toilet bowl cleaner to me.

I say go for it. I haven't watched a Super Bowl in four years going on my fifth season. I couldn't tell you who the SB champions are but don't stop with the BLM theme. Have all the commercials with gays and inter racial marriage themes like the one by Subaru forget Budweiser and Doritos. Half time entertainment should really be a doozy to see. Go all out and finish blowing up the NFL because I don't care.

Haven't watched the NFL (No Fun League) in four years now. It wouldn't matter if it was a KKK theme for the Super Bowl, just want to watch TWELVE and a HALF MINUTES of the best football players in the world. BTW, that's from snap to the whistle. Stop watch it. Three hours to play 12 1/2 minutes of football.
Used to be a diversion of all the trash in the world. Now, it is just another liberal cause to divide us.

In most years, I've found other things to do when the super bowl was on. Sitting through endless commercials and promotions just wasn't worth my time. Even the half time show is didn't impress me, except for the enormous amount of money that was spent to put it on. I found all the hype just too much. I kept asking myself, "What's in it for me?" The answer for me was nothing. If they plan on promoting a Communist organization that seeks the overthrow of the Constitution, then I'll go for ride, or clean the house and bathrooms, or even wash the cars weather permitting then take even one second to watch this BS crap.

#15, pay attention: those Black Lives in Chicago Don't Matter.
What matters is overthrowing the U S, replacing it with the Union of Socialist Federated States, and following the USSR and Venezuela into the toilet bowl of history.
Oregon will lead the way. New York will soon follow, as will Wisconsin. Illinois will not be far behind.
Only Antifa and BLM matter.
My TV has a new state: OFF.

BLM? Really? Because I’ve run into a few shabbily dressed black veterans of the NFL who were reduced to selling autographed glossies of themselves at the local Safeway for $5 a pop. Football is fine by me. I don’t want it banned or feminized but BLM is an ironic slogan for a game in which black players are regularly torn, bruised, broken and concussed for cash and then abandoned when they are no longer of value. Get over yourself, Goodell. You live in a dream world where using people until they’re broken shadows of their former selves is somehow noble and do tell: in your relationship with Phil Knight of Chinese slave labor blood money, who is dominant?

Does the NFL want to choose silver bullets or a stake through the heart? The organization will accomplish nothing by accepting ads that trash the goodness in most Americans.
If your cause only exists to elevate one group of people over another it is not something to be celebtrated.

#10, it is plainly obvious and a concentrated effort to have us "re-imagine" (read: brainwash) society.
I'm wondering if and when Hispanic families will get represented to the same degree by the media since they represent about THREE TIMES as many persons in society as there are black persons.
The American Culture is being manipulated away from social norms and into a created and 'cultivated' propaganda effort to "re-make" our country into accepting a utopian mirage--
Turn off the tube, get off the interenet, and try to enjoy the fellowship of REAL people for a change... (oh wait, they mask us up, and won't allow us to gather-- another 'control' mechanism based on hysteria and some fact.

Anyone truly interested in justice OR black lives should be able to see that they have become a tool for big media and certain "progressive" leaning businesses to make money off of "systemic racism." It's never about the little guy. Ever. Follow the money.

I wasn't a big NFL watcher ever, but now I make a point of not watching at all. They can be as "woke" as they want, but I won't listen. Agree with #10 - you'd think the U.S. was a majority black country if all you watched were the ads.

#26, how many Hispanics do you see in the NFL or NBA? More of them in MLB, but as a rule, they are remarkably quiet, and not like;y to blow their own horn. So they don't get the publicity that others do. It's sad when so many are neglected because they aren't as prominent in sports.
As for the super bowl, I will continue to not watch it. Don't want to break my streak of 54 consecutive super bowls not watched. At least I think that's how many there have been.

When the Nielsen ratings hit ZERO for the Super Bowl, will all those advertisers paying top dollar for a 30 second spot suddenly stop their virtue signaling? Privately, you can believe whatever you want. But shareholders only care about ROE. This BLM 'movement' will end, just like when you go to the bathroom and move your bowels.

For some years we have attended a large party at a local country club with more than 20 friends. That will be out this year. A good thng considering where it seems this SB is heading. We went for the excellent food and drink and fellowship more than the game, although we won the pool for decent money a few times. It will be an easy miss this time.

Pro sports are catering to liberals who are not sports fans but activists trying to kill off the whole industry. Rather ironic that these hapless morons are helping the social justice warriors destroy their own careers. Super bowl advertising used to cost a bloody fortune. I agree that since the NFL became 'woke' it offers the Least Value for entertainment time and money.
They are already the National Felons League, and the 'Woke' Super Bowl will ensure they are also Not For Long.
I do appreciate the 'woke' warning, as I will be sure to miss the Super Bowl, and all games leading up to it this season, and probably for as long as the league exists.
