During the COVID pandemic, much science is at play, treated either as gospel or hate speech, enough for science professionals to lose their jobs or be suspended from social media platforms if their views are inconvenient to the establishment’s narrative. The all-knowing, all-caring, anointed guru of all things COVID, Dr Anthony Fauci, has been wrong at least as often as he has been right, with a predictive value of a coin flip. Yet any scientific utterance from him is treated in the media as a scientific law, on par with gravity, as long he speaks convenient science.

Comments:

The Danish mask study that he refers to is interesting. We were recently in Florida, and at least in rural north central Florida, mask wearing was not happening in general. Hardware store clerks, etc, no masks, and not in grocery stores, either. A very few patrons had masks. It was WONDERFUL.

Here is the summary of results from the Danish mask study, about 3000 people with and similar number without. "In this community-based, randomized controlled trial conducted in a setting where mask wearing was uncommon and was not among other recommended public health measures related to COVID-19, a recommendation to wear a surgical mask when outside the home among others did not reduce, at conventional levels of statistical significance, incident SARS-CoV-2 infection compared with no mask recommendation." Basically, 1.8% of people wearing masks got Wuhan flu, and 2.1% not wearing masks got Wuhan flu, out of about 3,000 of each type of participant. So you can make the case that you might be SLIGHTLY less likely to get it if you wear a mask..... but the statisticians don't think the difference is actually mathematically meaningful....just random variation because the total number is so small, and the difference is so small. Can't reliably tell if it helps. And the people were encouraged to use social distancing. One of the interesting notes is: "46% of participants wore the mask as recommended, 47% predominantly as recommended, and 7% not as recommended." I guess that's fairly realistic, too. Half the people wore masks "predominantly as recommended"......which means WHAT? I call that "sorta-kinda". Don't sweat the masks. Check with Juan Williams for expert advice on their amazing effectiveness.....or not.

Where are the scientific studies that show people have been infected in greater numbers in restaurants, bars and gyms? Where are the studies showing all the mass infections from all the Walmarts that never closed? Where are the waves of infected homeless?

Our country has lost confidence in the election process. It's clear that our system needs an overhaul, and it's not too soon to start thinking about ways to prevent 2020's disastrous outcome. The following proposal, which optimizes transparency, would restore voter confidence in our election process. Confidence through Redundancy Designers working on data-processing systems for satellites where physical repairs are difficult use triple-modular redundancy, which triples the hardware units processing each piece of data. "Voter" hardware would look at each result and accept a result only if it achieved two or more matches. Accounting's double-entry system is based on a similar concept

Perhaps the most dogmatic Trump-hating network of all was very concerned about Venezuela corrupting our elections via Smartmatic voting machines. Yes, CNN! Watch this report from CNN, hosted by Lou Dobbs in his pre-FBN career, and reported by Kitty Pilgrim, who was always, in my view, a straight shooter. The report raises the question: why should U.S. elections be subject to manipulation by a foreign country, Venezuela, a country that is totally hostile? The video is four and a half minutes long, and the picture quality is not good, but it is compelling television in light of claims being made now about Dominion and Smartmatic.

Russian writer, historian, and political prisoner Alexander Solzhenitsyn was one of the most consequential men of the 20th century. He not only singlehandedly destroyed communism as an idea, but also had many things to say about the West which were greeted then about the way they'd be greeted by the Squad and progressives today. Yet they are worth revisiting in this turbulent era today. Like many of us, Solzhenitsyn had been de facto silenced by the Western media and denounced as a nut for recounting the true history of the Bolshevik Revolution and its bloody aftermath ase well as making warnings to the West.

Austin has seen a spike in violent crime and officer retirements after the city council voted over the summer to immediately slash $20 million from the police department budget, becoming the first major Texas city to do so. In August, Austin City Council members voted unanimously to cut about $150 million, or roughly one-third, from its police department and allocate those funds to areas like violence prevention, housing and mental health services. Only about $21.5 million was immediately removed from the department's funding in part by canceling three upcoming cadet classes and slashing overtime expenses. "It is demoralizing for the officers. It is angering for the citizens

New York’s ultra-rich are quietly preparing for civil unrest on Election Day — by hiring armed guards to stand watch over their luxury Manhattan buildings. At the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle, where the penthouse is going for $62.5 million, managers are deploying off-duty cops with “submachine guns” to stand watch, while other wealthy city enclaves are also beefing up protection for residents. “Everybody is worried about security,” an insider told the Post. “Every top building is adding security. It’s out of control. We hope it won’t be needed, but we will be ready.” The building is working with the NYPD and Homeland Security, the insider said.

A second night of unrest in Philadelphia began Tuesday night over the police shooting death of a Black man, just as his children recalled memories of their father in front of reporters and 1,000 looters reportedly began targeting businesses, police said. Three of Walter Wallace Jr's., sons remembered their father during a news conference surrounded by family and community members. "We always go places," said one child, whose name was not revealed. "He always teach [sic] me how to be a man. And these white racist cops got my own dad. And Black Lives still matter."

When the Senate votes on Monday evening to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court, it will be just over a week before Election Day that will decide what both parties are portraying as the most important race in American history. If Barrett is confirmed to become a member of the highest bench in the country – and, with Republicans easily having enough votes to confirm her, that seems to be a foregone conclusion – one of the first cases she could hear as a new Supreme Court justice could decide who wins the White House. Courts at all levels have been deluged with cases relating to balloting

"Michigan would gain increased influence and better representation for its people in the U.S. Senate by electing John James," the editorial board said in a statement. "It would also send to the Senate a natural leader who could well become one of the chamber’s most powerful members.” The board noted that James is a "businessman who understands the impact COVID-19 has had on the nation’s industrial base, and what it will take to recover." The real winner of the 2020 election might be this Pennsylvania bakery. A family-owned bakery in the town of Hatboro claims that its election-themed cookies — which are currently flying off the rack — have accurately predicted the outcome of the past three presidential elections. So far, they say sales indicate a clear leader for the 2020 race, too. Lochel’s Bakery, located in Montgomery County just north of Philadelphia, had launched its most recent “cookie poll” about six weeks back, offering both “Trump 2020” cookies and “Biden 2020” cookies in red and blue, respectively. This year’s sales, however, are unlike anything the bakery has seen during the last four election cycles.

President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday revealed that he broke his foot tripping on a rug after a shower as he chased one of his dogs and grabbed its tail. Biden’s campaign previously explained the hairline fracture by saying Biden fell while playing with the dog, but did not mention the shower or tugging the animal’s tail. The injury requires Biden, who turned 78 last month, to wear a boot for weeks. “What happened was I got out of the shower. I got a dog and anybody who’s been around my house knows — dropped, little pup dropped a ball in

Biden says he was getting out of the shower and decided to attempt to pull his dog’s tail in a playful manner. Georgia’s Fulton County, the most populous in the state, claimed it needed to stop absentee ballot overnight on November 3-4 because of a burst pipe. That was a lie. There was no burst pipe, and the counting didn’t stop. At a hearing on Thursday, surveillance footage emerged showing that the ballots being secretly counted came from suitcases hidden under a table. Here’s what seems to have happened: In Fulton County, Georgia, the people who planned to add fake ballots to Biden’s vote count on election night had an overall good plan. First, announce that a burst pipe required everybody to vacate the building until morning and, second, count fake votes.
