GOP poised to flip 4 House seats in
California, more than any other state

Despite Democrats’ confident predictions of a “Blue Wave” sweeping statehouses in the November election, the final results showed that almost nothing had changed. Yet in California, a Democrat stronghold, Republicans are poised to flip more House seats than in any other state. The results have shown a significant, reversal from the 2018 midterms, which was marked by a rabid anti-Trump furor that helped Democrats flip seven House seats. Now, the GOP is on the verge of taking back four of those seats. Young Kim took back California’s 39th District from Democrats after incumbent Rep. Gil Cisneros flipped the normally Republican district in the 2018 “Blue Wave.”

Yep, what is really disturbing is that we have Kevin McCarthy who is no better than Paul Ryan or John Boehner. Kevin McCarthy is a huge mistake. Wake up republicans.

I sort of like McCarthy. He is way better than Ryan who did so much harm and is a backstabber. We have some really good House members like Nunes, Jordan, Stepinak, Crenshaw, etc. We need to win those GA seats to hold off Biden a bit and then get the House in the midterms.

Sadly, Waters, Swalwell and Schiff remain in the House. Why is it the worst of the worst seem to become entrenched? Morons like Nadler and AOC, Omar and Tlaib prove my point. The worst of the worst get to grow old in the Washington swamp.

There are still plenty of conservative areas in California, and it looks like they are coming back to life. There were numerous mass protests to the lockdown and curfew orders over the weekend, and I expect more to come. Furthermore, I disagree with the criticism of McCarthy. He has been a vocal supporter and defender of the President, and unlike the somnolent leadership of the Republican Party in many states, he has worked hard to identify and develop new leaders to run for office and win. This should be the formula for the Republican Party nationwide...get rid of the country club RINOs and bring in new blood of committed, working class leaders to retake the districts and states one battleground at a time. Don't wait for a Trump or other national leader to do all the heavy lifting. Retake America one block at a time.

It wasn’t rabid anti-Trump furor that flipped those seats in 2018. It was the 55 republican house members who retired.

I'm good with McCarthy. He did a pretty decent job of recruiting the youth of the republican party to run for office and a good many of them were successful. 2022 will bring pubbie House control. But, it is an uphill climb thanks to the 55 pubbie representatives who chickened out in 2018 and ran home to get under their desks.

Re #16, do you have a link for that assertion about Ryan and Jeb Bush and Dominion. As for the Dominion machines, it is the software and human beings that manipulate the votes. Not the machines themselves. They are simply created to allow it if some human decides to do it via the machines.

Sorry, #1, but McCarthy is a huge upgrade from previous Minority Leaders. He's all over the TV and radio, making himself available and present. He's obviously put a terrific team together to recruit good candidates who were also pushing hard, and showing constituents they're there to fight FOR them. Agree, 2018 was more a result of 55 GOPers leaving making it an uphill fight. Nancy may only have a 4 seat majority, and even if the Senate ends up 52-48, or 51-49, it really says that the country is split. Not looking for anything too radical from either side. However, the potential Biden Cabinet looks to be extreme and radical. Looking to for a return to leading from behind, and reducing America's influence around the world.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

Will Joe Biden and his foreign-policy team accept the extraordinary gift Team Trump is leaving for them under the Christmas tree — or is their hatred for the president so all-consuming that they will toss it in the garbage? The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.
Trump’s Flynn Pardon:

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

The court of appeals ruled in an 11-5 majority that Planned Parenthood did not have the right to challenge the state's decisions regarding who receives Medicaid benefits. There, Democratic incumbent Anthony Brindisis is locked in a recount with Republican Claudia Tenney, who previously held the seat before him. The race gap between the two has come down to the point where Tenney is leading by 106 votes and the only ballots left to possibly be considered are the ones that were “set aside” during the initial count due to irregularities.
