Rioting, vandalism and looting erupted in Philadelphia on Monday night hours after police fatally shot a 27-year-old black man armed with a knife during a domestic disturbance call. Late into the night, growing anger boiled over into a violent riot near the Philadelphia Police 18th District building. Several officers were injured by bricks and other projectiles thrown at them by a crowd of demonstrators. At least 12 officers have been hospitalized, including one female cop, 56, who suffered a broken leg after being hit by a speeding pick-up truck that was videoed driving towards a line of officers close to the city center shortly before 1am, according to Philadelphia Police.

This was a domestic call. An argument in a house. The guy comes out with a knife (which means he is armed and ready to kill someone). The cops take him down, which most likely saved the life of the person he was going to use the knife on. And the people riot. Make sense? How come no riots after the black cop (sgt) was killed last week. He was the same color!

I'd like to pose the following question to any of the rioters: A person is charging you with a knife and you're about to be killed. You have a firearm in you hand. What would YOU do?

#3 Gather information, use critical thinking, come to a conclusion, then share it with others. Anything else is irresponsible and can manipulate with fake news and misinformation.
Tasers are about 60% effective. In less than 21' a knife is proven to be a more effective lethal weapon than a gun. In this case your humane solution would get 40% of the offices killed. Google "Despite Widespread Use, Police Rate Tasers As Less Effective Than Believed", "The 21 Foot Rule".

Approach a cop with a deadly weapon in a threatening manner and expect to pay the price.

Cops respond to violence and threats not race and the loss of "certainty of punishment" for looting and theft encourages that behavior. The Dims who run American cities are morons and attempting to make all America into a crisis. Fundamentally transforming the nation is on the menu.

# 10: I hate to disagree with our esteemed former VP, but there was no justification for injuring this person by shooting them in the leg. The evil police coulda/shoulda simply shot the knife out of his hand, then gave him a hug. Such misinformation...

As for the "webnets-trained law enforcement expert" s opining on these incidents, the advice of #5 is recommended. You simply have no idea at all what you're talking about. Maybe you could just go run a nuclear power plant or drive a spaceship.

I'm beginning to think that police should defend themselves with equal force on anyone who attacks them or someone near them.
If the rioters attack; Open Fire!!

Imagine what our cities will be like next week when Trump wins the election. But once the President-elect shows them what the Insurrection Act is for, things will quiet down very quickly.

People who do not resist arrest with violence do not get shot. People who attack the police with deadly force get shot. It's this simple.

Someone called 911 because they felt threatened by this guy. Quite often they are high on powerful drugs, well beyond reason and don’t feel pain.

#5 is right on, especially about the "21 foot " rule, which is that if a criminal with a knife attacks you from 21 feet away, he can reach you in a second and a half. And there is no magazine limit on how many times an assailant can stab. Tasers can be effective against certain people, but drugged assailants have shrugged off the taser's shock with no effect, and the officer is down to his (or her) firearm.
I'm ready for the Cops-LivePD to begin running again. There was no good reason to take cop shows off the air. Not having Dan Abrams' LivePD has absolutely destroyed A&E's ratings.

They should not respond to anything in the black community.
This is why Cops hated domistic disputes.
Maybe they should have had a Social worker with them,s/o

If a suspect approaches the police with a deadly weapon when they’ve been warned to drop it and the police have drawn their guns it looks like suicide by cop. Perhaps the suspect was acting on an insane impulse but we don’t pay the police to die. If people truly care that these incidents happen predominantly to young black males then the responsibility should be put where it will save the most lives: on young black males and the wider dysfunctional community they live in because those communities are often too high maintenance for the police.

Give me one good reason why these people should not be caged and sent back to a more appropriate environment. Apparently a few hundred years of exposure to civilization has not changed anything.

Interesting comment (from the Netherlands) in response to all the criticism among the low-info Daily Mail readers:
"So many people on here telling the police how to do their job. Go for a walk in the jungle and show them how you would do it."

This is BS. Shooting a man with a knife is generally a valid police action.

#3, tasers do not always work, something around 50%, worse when winter clothing is worn.
And tasers are NOT "non-lethal", they are "less lethal", and still sometimes kill the person that they are used on.
When a person has a weapon, a taser is a crazy idea as it will likely provoke an attack rather than prevent it. Against an unarmed person, it can possibly be a good choice, but needs to used with the recognition that it frequently fails, even with multiple "shots" used, and still may kill.

Once again we have a dead person killed because he thought laws and the commands of a police officer didn't apply to him because of the color of his skin. He fought the law, and the law won.
