Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump are reported in the media to be rivals of sorts. Well, here's a rivaly no one would want to hope for: Which of the two has the lousiest former friends. (snip) Chelsea Clinton has stepped forward into the spotlight, to tell everyone why she refuses to speak to her longtime childhood friend, Ivanka Trump, and it's a doozy. (snip) Chelsea Clinton, 40, said she and Ivanka Trump haven't spoken since 2016. During the discussion with host Andy Cohen, Clinton criticized the first daughter for "actively taking part in this administration's everyday collision of cruelty and incompetence."

Of course Chelsea doesn't call her former friend anymore. Ivanka's dad had the gall to call out her parents for being scheming liars who got Americans killed and who profited mightily off their government positions while IN OFFICE. Sometimes we simply don't want to hear the truth.

The polls appear to be shifting in favor of Joe Biden. A commonly heard explanation from Trump supporters is many of the polls are oversampling Democrats. This is true in some cases but not all. So, is something else going on here we do not really understand? (snip) According to a recent Cato Institute poll, 77% of conservatives are now afraid to express their political views versus roughly 50% of liberals. This includes 40% of Republicans with a college degree and 60% with a post-graduate degree, who are afraid their political views will harm their careers, versus only 25% of Democrats.

The surest way to convince people that they ought to pay attention to something is to tell them they shouldn’t be allowed to see it. About a century ago, when Boston had a municipal movie censor, producers vied to be “banned in Boston” as a way of convincing the public to flock to their flicks. This century’s version of the same lesson is called “The Streisand effect,” after the singer drew attention to her lavish seaside estate in California by attempting to suppress aerial pictures taken of it. Nobody ever said Joe Biden was a quick learner.

There's a bad joke about a music scholar who visits Beethoven's grave in Vienna. As he nears, he hears the Ninth Symphony being played backward. Initially, she seemed anomalous because she was not engaged in criminal activity or resisting arrest when she died. New evidence, though, shows that, in addition to her relationship with a drug dealing ex-boyfriend (which is what caught the police’s attention), the boyfriend who shot the police was also a drug dealer. Taylor hung out with the wrong people.

The left lives on “narrative.” In other words, it tells stories. It tells stories about race, gender, criminal violence, and a host of other things. Occasionally, these stories intersect with the facts, but more often than not, they don’t.
