In a play for Black votes, President Donald Trump vowed to designate the KKK—but also Antifa—'terrorist organizations,' he announced at an event in Atlanta Friday. The president will also increase capital to Black communities by nearly $500 billion, a figure first reported by Fox News. Trump will also push to make Juneteenth, the day slavery officially ended in the United States, a federal holiday. Trump made the promises with less than 40 days before the November presidential election as he spent Friday trying to firm up support with communities of color, who tend to vote heavily Democratic.
Well, that headline was OK right up to the part about Juneteenth.
Not only no.... hell no.

“In a play for black votes...”
Why can’t they just report the news without interpretation? So sick of the msm pontificating!

Horrible - - horrible, stupid pandering.
This is way beneath President Trump. Why is he stooping so low?

Don't worry about Juneteenth.
Pelosi and the Dems won't pass scratch. They'll crank out excuses, and in the end, they won't pass squat.

This is not "pandering" by Trump... It is a peace and goodwill offering. It is a gesture of kindness and appreciation of the black community... and it is about time a Republican tried to secure this gigantic voting block that they have ignored for years. I can't believe some are so ignorant that they can't see this for what it is... Trump is actually reaching out... NOT pandering.

A question to Trump- what about Americans who are not black? They bust their behinds and ate penalized for the hard work. Whites ofcourse need not apply

It is pandering and beneath the dignity of the office. The KKK is a non issue. They have less clout than the boy scouts nowadays, and fewer members. Juneteenth is yet another fake black holiday to try and keep the violence down. Will anyone besides the media celebrate it? Probably not.
I am ashamed at his blatant vote fishing. It is exactly the same as the communists kneeling on the floor with African scarves a while back.

I love the idea of making Juneteenth a federal holiday. A lot of people in this country died for that. Let it be a holiday!

As a kid in Virginia in the 50’s we celebrated Emancipation Proclamation Day as well as Lee - Jackson Day. I have no problem with it but they should call it what it is. Perhaps Juneteenth is a way of disguising it. Of course if we celebrate it nationally young African Americans will be acknowledging what was done for their great, great, great grandparents long ago and what little many have taken advantage of. Does this mean we can drop Black History month? Yes I’m in favor of telescoping all this down from one month to one day.

I believe Trump can win the election without making Juneteenth a national holiday. That’s too much pandering.

Actually it is somewhat of a "checkmate" moment. What can the Dems say or do to disagree with this new federal holiday? What's one more day the federal workers get off, in exchange for the Dems trying to squirm around this and not give Trump credit?

Juneteenth, Kwanzaa and bLACK history month, plus MLK's birthday. I guess the holiday for privileged White people is labor day, celebrating all the work done to provide all the freebies. And don't forget Apr. 15th, when we celebrate our White privilege by sending our hard earned cash to Washington to be wasted.

I would call this symbolic and without substance except the price tag is 500 BILLION. What exactly will they be doing? Something tells me the devil will be in the details. Congress smells pork!

$500 billion divided by the US African-American population of 40,610,815 amounts to $12,312 apiece. Not nearly enough, except as an initial down payment. Come on, Joe, offer them a trillion, again just as an initial offering. The Fed printing presses stand ready to meet any demand.

I don't have a problem with it at all. He may be doing a 'Bill Clinton' - figure out the way the wind is blowing (i.e., sooner or later - probably sooner - the dems will get an emancipation day national holiday and take credit for it) - Clinton would figure out what was going to happen anyway (remember welfare reform?) then run like the devil to get out in front of it and act like it was his idea all the time. I'm in the 'it's and olive branch' camp. With all the other insanity we are living through, this ain't even a blip. Whatever it takes to win this one. We HAVE to win this one.

Hey as a Texan I dont have a problem with the Juneteenth holiday decision. Anything to get eyes on Texas *wink*. Heres another bittersweet moment that Republicans can exploit: Sam Houston was Governor of Texas at the time the Confederates decided to secede and in spite of tremendous pressure did not buckle in withdrawing Texas from the Union. Why should he when he spent so much of his adult life bringing Texas to the US?
For not being a jackass Democrat, Houston was then run out of office.
Sam Houston: the George Washington of Texas.

Sorry for second, but here is another thought: There was not so much rejoicing over victory as the Civil War really deserved, right? because they didn't want to make the South unhappier than they were. But that is behind us now, and let's rejoice that slavery is over We could not really do that in 1865 but we can now so let's. We deserved it then but it was not polite so we didn't. Now let's!!!

Also sorry for the second post, but . . . #21, you have no idea what the poor whites who never owned a slave, (nor had their ancestors), had to live through during 'reconstruction'. There's a lot of family history that has been passed down from grandfather/mother to children to great grandchildren that never made it into the history books, nor will it ever. Have you ever read of the occupying army (North) during the reconstruction arming the local 'blacks' to encircle the courthouses and other voting places to keep whites from voting? It did happen, but I'll bet you'll never find it in a history book. I had ancestors on both sides of the Civil War. Not a one of them ever owned a slave. But the ones (all of them) that were in the Northern army deserted. Never finished 'the war.'

I have celebrated Juneteenth since 1970...I'm white. Why might you ask?
Well I was drafted into the Army and got out on 19 June 1970...freed from slavery!

We already have an entire month set aside to praise and honor the wonderful bLACK Community and its many contributions to society, and that's atop the holiday set aside for the communist rapist-enabler MLK Jr. Will another federal holiday make them stop feeling inferior, or is this just a joke? Also, I'll hazard a guess that this move, if true, will dissuade more WHITE votes than it would gain bLACK votes, given that the latter votes nearly 100% in favor of a fellow African or whatever Democrat Socialist promises the most free stuff.
