After months of protests that turned Breonna Taylor’s name into a national slogan against police violence, city officials agreed to pay her family $12 million and institute reforms aimed at preventing future deaths by officers.
The settlement in a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the mother of Ms. Taylor, a young Black woman who was killed by white police officers in a botched raid last March, (Snip)The agreement they reached was relatively quick compared to other cases of police shootings, which have often dragged through court(Snip) It was sizable, with her family receiving more than double the amount paid to the relatives of Eric Garner,

I remember a sad story many, many years ago in South Texas. A soda truck driver ran a stop sign (although he claims his brakes failed), slamming a school bus into a caliche pit of water, killing a dozen or two kids, injuring many others. The lawyers descended on the grieving, injured, and bystanders like vultures and settlements were handed out like halloween candy. If your kid died, you made lots of money. If your kid was hurt or survived, not as much but enough to do okay. Of course, the kids had to wait until they were 18 for most of the loot. As my friends at the time told me, a number of those kids, at 18, bought fast cars and other expensive toys that led to their early demise.
I hope and pray that this young lady's survivors don't suffer the same fate.

The New York Times ignored their own article written recently, spelling out what the situation was.
breonna Taylor was a bag (money) person for a drug gang, headed by her boyfriend. She carried cash, and probably drugs, for the gang,
handling bail money for them, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars. the police had scores of telephone conversations between Breonna and her jailed boyfriend. He visited her apartment, recently, 44 different times.
Breonna had a second boyfriend, and when the police knocked on the door, her 2nd boyfriend thought it was the drug dealer boyfriend, and shot at the police. Police returned fire, killing Saint Breonna.
the neighbors denied hearing the police identifying themselves. No one heard nuffin. I call that pure b.s.
The coward mayor Fischer is beneath contempt. Shame on Louisville.

This was inevitable. The Louisville police messed up.
It reminds me of an incident where I grew up. Two police officers show up at an apartment to serve an arrest warrant. They got shot. More police show up (about 100) and it was treated as a hostage situation. Why? Because there was a woman with two children in the apartment besides the perp. The perp let them out after a few hours, and eventually surrendered 12 hours later.

Lifestyle Tip:
Sleep with a drug dealer and you may find yourself in the middle of a gunfight. With police or with other drug dealers. Either way, it is an exceptionally stupid and dangerous lifestyle choice.

Does the settlement require the family to shut up?

So who is going to pay for all the damage and loss of business Louisville has suffered because of the feckless Mayor Fisher and the inept Governor Beshear. They have let the anarchy go on all summer nearly unmolested.
Louisville used to be a nice midwestern City, now it is the car jacking capital of Kentucky, Thanks to liberal democrats Fisher and Beshear.
This is exactly what kind of crap you get when you elect democrats.

Extortion works. I see the caption by her photo says she was turning her life around. Does that mean in two years she would have been a kingpin ?
