Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, admitted that a key detail of his article about Trump could be wrong during an interview with CNN on Sunday.
“When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed the rain for the last-minute decision, saying ‘the helicopter couldn’t fly’ and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true,” Goldberg wrote in his piece published last week. According to Goldberg, President Trump was overheard saying he wanted to cancel the trip to the cemetery because “it’s filled with losers.”

I call BS for the simple reason that to *any* politician a memorial service in the rain would be a great photo op.

Goldberg is ensconced in a safe haven at the Atlantic. He knows he won't be fired no matter how much he lies. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising that he has been told that these type of false attacks are now part of his job. The readership of the Atlantic is probably all liberal and therefore they risk little by pandering to their worst nature.
In sum, the editor, his magazine, and its readership are all a nice little Leftist echo chamber that can spew lies without consequence. Hint: Harry Reid is probably a "source". Or did Goldberg make the story up, out of whole cloth, and there aren't any mysterious "sources"?

The relentless libel of our President is despicable. What it is intended to do is to give the base another lie that they will enthusiastically run with. They present a narrative and the base will get on board and make it part of their hate Trump strategy knowing it will never be challenged. They will continue to use it as a talking point regardless if it is a lie. It’s just one more weapon in the democrat arsenal brought to you by the corrupt media.

I believe veteran reporter Sharyl Atkisson's take on all this: The story was manufactured, and shopped among all the first tier networks, cable news, plus WaPo-NYT. None bit, because they all would require a named source. They still purport to maintain that journalistic standard.
The Atlantic has no such standard. (Yesterday's The Federalist dives deep into that.)

This was a drive-by Media attack: Allege a lie, hope for a lot of bad press, then when the lie falls apart, move on. More coming.

Oh, oh - - silly me - - now I get it. Lies and slander have now been reclassified as "ambiguities" and "difficulties."
OK, then - - Jeff Goldberg - - you're ambiguous and difficult!

It's especially ridiculous that so-called journalists speculate on who the unnamed sources are. I'd bet that no self respecting marine would even talk to a low-life punk like Jeffrey Goldberg.

We need to change our legal standard for libel as to public figures to rules identical to those in the UK. We have made it virtually impossible here in the US for a Trump to fight back against slander from the media. Our First Amendment protects the 'press' but no one whom they lie about and journalistic 'standards' requiring verified sources BEFORE publication have long ago disappeared. Hell! University schools of journalism no longer even teach there is such a thing as objective truth.

So his article claims that sources "overheard" Trump using the term "losers?" Doesn't that beg for follow-up? Where were you? How far away? Who was Trump talking to? What else did you "overhear?" Can you describe in detail everything you heard? How sure are you of what you heard?
I think this was someone who either heard what he or she wanted to hear or made it up altogether.

Paris has a large population of filthy islamofascist terrorist pigs, so many that the gendarmes have no-go zones. could the
'loser' reference have been related to those pigs?
Finally, the terms loser and sucker were used by the leftist elite during the Viet Nam war. Veterans in graduate school, I was one, heard such words, regularly. the musical, Hair, of that era focused on rescuing one naive lad who had been drafted. Remember?

Newspapers are free to print nearly anything if it is was "without malice." If Goldberg had bothered to check out the facts, he would have found that weather was the reason for the cancelled trip. It should be obvious that the Atlantic article was malicious to the extreme. Any time slander like this is solely attributed to "anonymous sources" is a red flag identifying it as a total fabrication. This lying article is deplorable.

President Trump has had a long history of supporting the military, stretching back long before he ever got into politics. So it would be completely out of character for Trump to denigrate dead marines or soldiers resting in military cemeteries in France or anywhere else. If Trump had gone to that cemetery in a driving rain nobody has said anything about the 90 year old plus Second World War veterans would would have then been expected to sit in the heavy rain to hear a bunch of speeches.
That is not to say that Trump has not and will not take to task the DC “UniParty” politicians and the military bureaucrats (Admirals and Generals) who are all for sending American military people to the other side of the world to fight, die, and be seriously wounded, in especially the endless Middle East foreign wars that in one way or another have been ongoing for hundreds of years between differing Islamic factions, that when you look closely have little or nothing to do with US national security. The war mongers, both civilian and military, claim those wars are necessary to keep the Islamist terrorists from entering the USA and perpetrating more 9-11 style attacks. But if the USA were to enforce effective immigration laws those foreign terrorists would not be able to get into the USA and stay here to plan and carry out their terrorist attacks.
The liberal Democrats who have been spawning those military related hoaxes against Trump now, as the run-up to the general election picks up steam, are just about all people who would never think of joining the military themselves, or Going along with their sons and daughters joining the military in ground combat units, taking their chances possibly getting killed or seriously wounded in the endless Middle East Wars.

The lie is out there produced by a publication whose writers openly advocate for an overthrow of the Constitution and the United States, given credibility by all of the alphabets. The Marxists, their "white shield" Republicans, mainstream media, entertainment and education have circulated the lie so that most Americans believe it's true because of course, Orange Man Bad. Just like Russia, Mueller, Ukraine, and all of the other lies are believed, this one is out there and the proof that this "loser" lie has been completely debunked doesn't matter. The lie has become something that most people believe is because days after the entire story was debunked, a Marxist mouthpiece asked Trump, "Why do you hate the military so much"? I don't know how a Trump victory and four more years of his presidency is going to slow this demonic-like evil from the Marxists but I know I'm going to go vote for him. BTW, where in the hell are the elected Republicans?

"According to Goldberg, President Trump was overheard saying he wanted to cancel the trip to the cemetery because 'it’s filled with losers.'" Overheard? Would a retired Marine Corps general "overhear" a comment like that from Trump and not challenge it? Everyone else present denies it was said, so to whom was Trump addressing his comment if not Kelly or one of them? This sounds like multiple hearsay, as in the old game called "telephone," attributed by the writer to someone who allegedly requested anonymity because of fear of a Trump tweetstorm. When I was in J-School long ago, this kind of reporting was declared not just irresponsible, but completely unethical.

The Atlantic has surrendered it's credibility by choosing to become a propaganda organ for the left. There are no journalists at the Atlantic, because journalists do not work at propaganda mills. You can believe this because what credible publication would sacrifice approximately half of it's readership in the name of politics?
Like CNN and the other left-wing media, the Atlantic must still believe that there are no other sources for people to learn the truth, and that people will not question their propaganda. Now, everything from the Atlantic is fake, until proven credible!

If the enemedia didn't lie they would have nothing to publish. I really don't think their lies have the power they once did. President Trump has pinned the label "Fake News" on them and they daily confirm their moniker. I believe the spell of "non-partisan" news has been broken. Even Dim supporters know they are spreading falsehoods, but its all they have. They will keep lying until the day they die, and then they'll lie straight faced to St. Peter. Same goes for Chris Wallace (only Jewish person I know named Chris, selected for the first debate), Martha McCallum, Bret Baier (hope he gets chunkier), Juan Williams, Donna Brazile, and the snotty new reporter that asked the President yesterday why he did not take the high road with Pelosi. Fox News is useless in the war to drain the Swamp. Paul Ryan evil influence is being felt well beyond the firing of Trish Regan.

Started with Bezos buying the WaPo, which allowed itself to sully it's reputation.
And, then they use these anonymous "sources" to spread the story, only to later be proven to be liars, but they achieved their objective by spreading false stories, and covering for a possible lawsuit for malice.
Yet, I wonder if there can be a pattern shown that illustrates there is actual malice involved in many of these stories which are used as political attacks.

WHAT is the Story that got Kicked Off the Front Page by this one?
Would that story be about The HairSniffer's Inability to Read His TelePrompter?
Would it be about Hiden' Biden finally coming Out of the Basement?
Would it be about the 'List' of people asking Pre-Selected Questions, for which Joe of the Multiple Anurisms was Fully Rehearsed?
Would it be that the BurnLootMurder/Antifa crowd has people that have been seen, if not arrested, at Riots in Several Cities, which are a long way away from each other?
Who Paid for their Airline Tickets?
Would it be about Who is Behind the Riots?
Who Supplied the Pallets of Bricks?
Who Supplied the Pre-Printed Signs?
Who Supplied the BaseBall Bats?
Who is Running Antifa, and Who is Funding them?
Hmmmm...... I wonder.
