Smith and Wesson is firing on all cylinders.
I have a friend on social media who, for years, has constantly raged against guns.
(Snip)
I haven’t seen any such posts in a while.
And that makes me wonder if he — like surely many others — has converted.
Perhaps he’s been transformed by the news, by videos of crowds in the streets committing violence. Maybe he’s had a change of heart amid brutal mobs making chaos en masse.
Such conversions have no doubt helped fuel the nearly 5 million gun sales transpiring over the last few months. And as we near November, there’s no sign of stopping.

Guns can still be had. Maybe not the kind one wants, but there are guns for sale. Ammo is a different story. There isn't any out there.

And that's not counting all the shortages in parts, tools and support. If you roll your own like I do on occasion, it may be too smart by half. Vendors are on backorders for the aforementioned items, and you have search around to find them, if at all. Our governor has declared firearms businesses as essential, but that may not be the case for suppliers in blue states. Local vendors are high and dry on some things. Agree w/#1. Get what you can, when you can.

The second amendment exists for a reason, and people see the reason.

I find the video clip of the Chicago activist to be appalling.
She is in no position to make demands and threats. Her claim of police abuse for no reason is patently absurd. Does she really believe no one has seen the videos of riots and looting?
Blacks must cease their incessant cries of victimhood and begin to address the cultural problems in their own communities. Chicago demands peace and safety NOW.

I reside in a bright red state. Rifle ammunition is available in most calibers. 357, 38, 9mm, and 22 hard to find.

Why intelligent blacks allowed themselves to be shoved around by racist, liberal Dems for so long is anyone's guess. LBJ, can you help with this?

Reloading components are in short supply everywhere. I couldn’t find any powder except on one internet site. I ordered two pounds early last week; yesterday, I got an e-mail that they’d run out and my order had been canceled. Obtaining ammunition at any retail outlet is out of the question. If I see something available - even if I know I won’t need it for a while - I grab it. If you’re looking to buy a gun, you’re way too late.

If you don't have guns and thousands of rounds for each, you're way too late. We were doomsdayers and conspiracy nuts and every other adjective in the book when we wisely prepared for the supposed Hillary win.

Those of us who got armed long ago are happy. I gifted a .38 revolver to a niece and we have spent some quality time on the range with her coming up to speed with it. I am providing the ammo, loading the practice stuff and gave her a impossible to purchase now box of self-defense "serious social work" hollow points.
Happy to provide critical self-defense capability to those family and friends who need it in times of shortages.

All the gun manufacturers are running at maximum capacity, but they probably will not purchase more machinery or hire more labor because these things tend to last only for a few months or so, and then drop back to more normal. This one may shake out higher, we'll. see.
One thing that does ratchet ever upwards is ammunition demand, since for every single gun added to the stocks, there is a permanent need for ammo for it. Now, some owners buy a box of ammo, and that is the end of it. More and more people are being smart and recognize that shooting is a skill and a perishable one, at that. So, they get some training, and then practice with some regularity. Those people are a permanent increase in the ammunition demand, so ammo makers need to steadily increase production capacity as more guns are purchased.

I have a friend who just bought a Smith hammerless snubby. Price was on the high end of fair. We tried it a couple days ago. Nice gun but too tight a trigger. My Ruger LCR is much lighter.
But she couldn't find any bullets. Not anywhere. Even during the Obama years you could get .38 special. Not anymore. I donated a box of handloads to tide her over but my own components are running low. No web site I've found yet has anything at any kind of reasonable price.
Checked some local stores and found a whole bunch of the expensive rifle hunting rounds, and a couple boxes of .30 carbine. That was it. I bought the .30.
Just have to minimize recreational shooting for a while and sit tight.

The inexperienced first-time gun owner would do better to purchase a shotgun first if they are doing it for family protection. I've been 'collecting' them for the last 12 years or so - since the last Obama-inspired shortage. Here in Texas there's no ammo on the shelves, at least at the stores. Got plenty on my shelves, though.

At the moment it's easier to buy firearms than ammo. I'm not that much into guns. I have some 50 year old ammo. But at the moment about the only thing I could find is 22 long rifle. Which means I'm covered if attacked by a squirrel.

I just bought a brand new "bullpup" shotgun for home defense. I was lucky to get it before someone else. I'd been waiting for one to come available for over a month. Pistol information is all sold out at a couple of on-line ammunition stores I frequent. These are good barometers of our societal angst.

Back in the dark ages a sniper at my university killed one and wounded five with a .22 rifle. If that’s all you have use it. It may not be ideal, but I would not like to be on the receiving end of any caliber.
