One of the Black Lives Matter protesters busted in a window-smashing rampage over the weekend is the son of a New York Times best-selling comic book writer whose creations inspired the show TV show “Stumptown.”
Elliot Rucka, 20, of Portland was among the eight people arrested on rioting and other charges in the spree Friday that damaged and vandalized banks, Starbucks and Duane-Reades from Foley Square up to 24th Street.
The protest — which was organized by the groups “New Afrikan Black Panther Party” and the “Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement”

Take off the masks and remove the “social distancing” circles from the floors. Open the schools, liberate college campuses, fill the restaurants and the gyms and the churches and the salons. Enough.
If 2020 wasn’t twisted enough, the current political imbroglio centers around a verboten visit to a California boutique for a routine blow-out. One of the fascinating facts to emerge from watching the back-to-back conventions was that Republicans have overtaken Democrats when it comes to visual presentation. Despite their lock on Hollywood actors, the Democrats don’t seem to have attracted much of the creative talent. The Democrat convention looked like a meeting of a high school communist club, while the Republican convention was a joyous, polished, light-filled vision of America’s wonderful future.
The difference in talent when it comes to creating videos and events applies to less spectacular events as well. When I look at my Facebook feed, which is heavily populated with Democrat friends from my travels through life,

Based on the arrest photos of apprehended Antifa rioters, the impression is out there that the group is little more than a bunch of extremist fringe crazies.
Sadly, it's not so.
Report after report shows that Antifa is highly organized, in its rioting, its killing, and its press coverage.
It's shocking, really. This account from SurvivalBlog, by J.D., someone who went to several of Antifa's riots, describes all the security that Antifa and Revolutionary Communist Party (RevCom, or RCP) coevals put into their operations. Democrats openly say that, if Trump is reelected, they are going to redouble their four years of madness, with special emphasis on the last three months of open violence. Indeed, they’re already planning to destabilize the election and to contest it if Trump wins, in hopes of a violent coup. The latest leftist to say this is Bernie Sanders, who just opined that Trump would not accept defeat.
It appears that the Democrat’s plans don’t account for is the fact that, if Trump wins the Electoral College, he holds all the cards -- although, their awareness of that fact could explain the recent attempt, via the defamatory The Atlantic article,

Burke said evil triumphs when good men stay silent. Aristotle similarly said that when good people don't get involved in politics, they get government by bad people.
That's what has happened here in America, why evil has spread like leprosy across the face of the land. And make no mistake: it is evil that's spreading. To grasp this we need look no farther than the corner Planned Parenthood charnel house. When a society legitimizes babies getting turned into body parts for sale to the highest bidder — that's evil.
With notable exceptions (think Trump), the bad guys have taken over (think Deep State).

I get the sense that rightward movement is occurring in the African American community. This is more than anecdotal. It’s not random. It is for good reason.
At least since the ’60s, the Democrats have had a lock on the black vote, which they’ve nurtured and protected like leftists guard their copies of “The Communist Manifesto.” Their conquest was cynical in its inception and has grown more so through the years.
You’ve probably read President Lyndon Johnson’s overtly racist remarks concerning his support for the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act — remarks that are in such poor taste I won’t repeat them here.

President Trump’s re-election chances looked iffy as summer heated up. Ugly video of clashes between cops and black men made conservatives seem on the wrong side of the race debate. The left seized the opportunity to make theater of the issue. It was a box-office hit
But the left’s fondness for theater invariably leads them to act up, and then overact. Predictably, they escalated their theater from drama to melodrama to Rambo movies. Peaceful protests grew into riots. Buildings were burned, stores were looted and people were killed.
Their smash-hit theatrical production became, well, just a smash-up.

The evidence is piling up that the easily refutable, anonymously sourced so-called story, claiming that President Trump disparaged veterans, wasn't really an Atlantic news story at all; it was a coordinated hit job involving the press, Democratic operatives, and associated leftist groups connected to the military, executed with impeccable timing. A new investigative documentary sheds even more light on the extremely questionable foreign business dealings of Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden, and how such deals put American national security at risk, according to the New York Post.
The 41-minute documentary, “Riding the Dragon: The Bidens’ Chinese Secrets,” is produced and hosted by author and investigative journalist Peter Schweizer, who has received critical acclaim for his previous works investigating the political elite. His last film was 2015’s “Clinton Cash,” which similarly documented the numerous ways in which Bill and Hillary Clinton profited off of their time in public life.

While most national media outlets covered the Democratic and Republican National Conventions over the last two weeks, the Washington Post decided to go to war with a little-known website called Protect My Vote. While the Post labeled the site and its corresponding advertisements a “disinformation campaign,” ironically, the paper’s own news coverage supports the site’s message around a key piece of voter education: Your vote is more likely to be counted when it is cast in person. (Snip)Reports from the Post and other national outlets are highlighted on Protect My Vote’s website because they bear out the facts: millions of voters have never voted by mail before, and the systems

Don’t you just love Paul Krugman? One of loudest of the many anti-Trump hysterics employed by the New York Times, the former economist has been a reliable source of comedy at least since election night 2016. Once the worst was certain and the world learned that Donald Trump had indeed been elected president of the United States, Krugman pondered the markets, which had plunged overnight. “When might we expect them to recover?” he asked. “A first-pass answer is never . . . So we are very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight.”
What a card! I think we all deserve a Nobel Prize in economics.

Current Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden once made a joke about Chinese President Xi Jinping helping him in his own future bid to become president of the U.S.
The joke was made at the U.S.–China Strategic and Economic Dialogue in early July of 2013, roughly four months after then-Vice President Xi succeeded then-President Hu Jintao, thus becoming modern China’s 5th president. Listen from the 3:02 mark below (Video) “You know, we meet at a time of transition on both sides. China has a new president and new leaders. I’ve had the great pleasure and honor of spending a fair amount of time with President Xi

It was anchors aweigh at the Jersey Shore Saturday as thousands of boaters took to sea in support of law enforcement and President Trump. An estimated 2,000 watercraft joined “The Trump Law and Order Parade” as it set off from Toms River under a bright blue sky, most of them decked out in patriotic flags and banners — and bagpipers in some cases.“It was awesome,” organizer Chris Molla told The Post. “I’m on cloud nine right now.”One speedboat carried seven flags that proclaimed “Police Lives Matter” and “Trump 2020: Keep America Great” as they whipped in the stiff salt breeze on Barnegat Bay.

Major League Baseball opened this year by kneeling for the anthem and standing for Black Lives Matter. Though, despite the apparent belief that our sports-starved nation’s hunger for baseball would outweigh the league’s social justice activism, the ratings have been in the basement.
According to the numbers, baseball has joined the NBA in struggling to get sports fans to tune in and watch games.

When Nancy Pelosi sneaked into a San Francisco salon maskless for an illegal coiffing, it turns out that her actions reflected those of her fellow citizens across the country.
We refer not to the illegality of her actions — most people feel bound by and obey local laws — but to the fact that members of the public, like the speaker, refused to submit to perpetual lockdown. Instead, regardless of how their state or local governments reacted to the second surge of coronavirus cases, people spent the month of August reopening and getting back to work. In the end, 1.4 million more people

So, Nancy Pelosi is having the Bad Hair Day from Hell right now, because she was set up by a cabal of Trump-supporting hairdressers in . . . (checks notes) . . . San Francisco? That sounds about as implausible as CNN reporting a story accurately, or a liberal Democrat telling the truth about President Trump. Meanwhile, a Kennedy actually lost an election in Massachusetts, showing that Trump really is making America great again.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci, along with his agency colleague, the epidemiologist David Morens, warned in a report in the science journal Cell that if humans don’t make significant changes in all activities, that more diseases — more terrible health issues like COVID-19 — will soon come.
Beware this report. It’s a globalist dream come true, a real treatise for elites to control nearly every facet of human activity, human life, human freedoms.
Think that’s hyperbole? Read on. It’s called “Emerging Pandemic Diseases: How We Got to COVID-19,” and it’s presented as a scientific look at why we’re where we are today

Hurricane Katrina smashed into New Orleans 15 years ago last Saturday, destroying levees and floodwalls and submerging entire neighborhoods, from the poorer Lower Ninth Ward to the wealthier Lakeview district, for weeks. By some measures, New Orleans has made a remarkable recovery since the storm. Jobs, income, and educational attainment are up, and even the city’s population loss, though substantial, is not as dramatic as many, at the time, feared would happen. Strikingly, though, the city’s black population is down sharply.
When Katrina hit, New Orleans wasn’t in a strong position to survive and thrive after a historic catastrophe. The population of many cities, from Boston to Houston,

For some time now, we editors of The American Mind have been writing and speaking a great deal about “the stakes” when discussing the November elections. This shorthand is adapted from the title of a new book by our friend and colleague, Michael Anton, where he argues—and there is no gentle way to put this—that America as you’ve known it is in danger of collapse.
“But,” you may be thinking, “don’t I hear this kind of rhetoric every presidential campaign season?” You could be forgiven for dismissing it as “more of the same.”
That would be a mistake. This is an election like no other. To treat it otherwise

‘T he devil made me do it!” That was how funnyman Flip Wilson explained away his rogue moves in 1970s comedy bits. In 2020, it is Joe Biden’s rationalization of the Black Lives Matter revolution, with Baal taking on a decidedly orange cast.
An unmistakable correlation between the radical Left’s extortionate violence and the sudden tightening of polls has stirred the Democrats’ senescent standard-bearer to bolt the basement. He’d hoped to wait another week or so before emerging to read short speeches about President Trump’s erratic handling of COVID-19 (the government’s missteps during the Obama-era swine flu pandemic having apparently slipped Biden’s mind).

Nancy Pelosi has done everything necessary to turn the story of her private visit to the closed hair salon in San Francisco into a timely political parable. The video below tells the parable in a form that is both compelling and enraging. Its power stems from its fidelity to the truth. I wish I could pay tribute to whoever is responsible for it, but I have no idea. I can only commend it to your attention and urge you to pass it on.

One reason for the surging, often protracted violence in US cities is the rise of a host of progressive prosecutors who actually tilt against law and order.
The trend is most glaring in places known for their kooky left-wing politics, like Portland and San Francisco, but extreme leftists have also taken over as district attorneys in cities like Chicago and Boston. Many owe big thanks for their elections to funding from far-left fatcat George Soros.
In Portland, violent “protests” have dragged on for months, thanks to the idiocy of Mayor Ted Wheeler, who let hoodlums drive him out of his own condo —

Most popes urge austerity as a means of saving one’s soul. Pope Francis urges it for a different reason: to save the planet. In keeping with that temporal focus, he called this last week for humans to adopt “simpler” lifestyles not for reasons of spirituality but out of “respect” for the earth: We also need once more to listen to the land itself, which Scripture calls adamah, the soil from which man, Adam, was made. Today we hear the voice of creation admonishing us to return to our rightful place in the natural created order—-

Team Biden is spending some of their record-setting August haul of campaign cash on developing and deploying a news series of campaign advertisements for both television and the web. But not all of these efforts are producing high-quality results. One recent example is their advertisement about Social Security and how the Bad Orange Man plans to wipe out the security net in less than three years. If that sounds outlandish to you, that’s because it is. But they’re running the ad anyway. Here it is, just in case you haven’t seen it.

Victor Davis Hanson was on with the Hon John Anderson AO, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, to discuss the upcoming 2020 election. The interview was excellent throughout but the key points were made by Hanson at the end of the interview when talking about the upcoming election at the 9:35 mark:
We are going to wait and see what happens in November to finish and there’s three or four things that we don’t know what’s going to happen. Either the virus is going to wane. If it wanes by November, Trump will be elected.

About 150 people have been trapped by a raging wildfire near Mammoth Pool Reservoir in northern California, where officials warned they may have to jump into the water to survive. The Madera County Sheriff's office said in a statement on Saturday night that approximately 150 people were sheltering-in-place at the reservoir in Sierra National Forrest with 10 injuries reported. Evacuation routes are blocked and people in the area were told to shelter in place — even if that means getting into the water, officials said. Fire radio traffic indicated that multiple people had sustained burn injuries and others broken bones in the Creek Fire, and were being rescued by helicopter

Attending the annual Civil War reenactment here this past weekend, I half-expected a mob of crazed progressives to show up shouting “RACISTS!!!” at the mock Confederate soldiers. But this was clearly a Trump crowd, as evidenced by the guy next to me wearing a red-white-and-blue t-shirt heralding “GOD GUNS TRUMP.” He was hardly atypical.
Also evident throughout this territory are, frankly, an extraordinary number of Trump-Pence signs — far more, it seems, than even in November 2016, when Trump beat Hillary in Pennsylvania. On my rural street alone, nearly every other house has a Trump sign or flag.
