something very fishy about polling

One of the most famous clues in a Sherlock Holmes mystery is what’s commonly referred to as “the dog that didn’t bark” or, as Holmes actually said, “The dog did nothing in the night-time.” Rasmussen Reports, which puts out a Daily Presidential Tracking Poll like clockwork, noticed that its competitors ceased barking (or, if you prefer, polling) after the two parties held their conventions. According to Rasmussen, which would know, this silence was unprecedented.
Rasmussen published a series of tweets on Monday openly snarking at its competitors for their silence. Moreover, whoever is writing Rasmussen’s tweets was not shy about identifying a reason for the other polling outfits’ unusual reticence:

Could it be that the Biden campaign is going down in flames. The pollsters should just do what they have always done in the 15 years and fudge the results but instead they are silent.

The Mrs. and I have been holding Trump signs at a popular intersection. There is no question that the President has am enthusiastic
base in our city and I would speculate in the adjoining towns as the intersection is a short cut to them.

"Courage is contagious, and that thought, more than any other, seems to have pollsters in a panic."
I would suggest that the poll people get paid a lot to give the propagandists "scientific" support. All those polls NOT barking is $$$$ NOT being paid to the polling agencies.
Further, that is now. How about going forward? If the poll people are only utilized when the numbers can be faked to support the people who pay for the polls, it brings into question the honesty and validity of the poll organizations. They will point to their methods and claim they are mathematically valid, which they probably are. However, the dirty secret of polling is that it is well know that the critical thing to statistical sampling is the data used. If the questions asked are tainted or the wrong people are asked the question, for example too many dems, the outcome is invalid. Garbage in, garbage out.
When the polls are deliberately being skewed to produce a desired result and THEN being used to PUSH and SHAPE opinions, people will soon have the same faith in the poll organizations as the media that uses them, approaching zero. Like the media, the poll organizations only have themselves to blame for this result.
If there is no faith in the polls, there is no value to them and the polling industry will collapse and all those earnest salesmen making a living by them won't have nice income any more. Frank Luntz for example is worth $15 million. It seems a bit opaque to find out how much money is spent on polling during a presidential election year and many of the pollsters are private or universities so earnings are shielded but you can bet it is big bucks. WHY is that money spent? To inform? Not as much as you might think. It is to influence. It is a form of advertising. People like a winner and if the polls say someone is winning the herd mentality is triggered. It's good to support the apparent winner to be.
Further, this extends FAR beyond elections. Polls are run for all sorts of reasons. "What's a good name for our new automobile model? Let's take a poll." "What is a good name for our new brand of perfume?" If companies lose faith in the accuracy of polling for guidance, there will be less paid for polling. There is enormous money on the table, all based on the perception that the polling companies are worth what they get paid. If the reputation of the polling companies is shaken, so is their revenue.
THAT is a reason for pollsters to panic.

Polls have been used to create a desired result for various reason. Just look at 2016. The best strategy is that despite what any poll indicates, fight like the President is down 20 points! Take nothing for granted. We are not only voting, we are making a statement this year. Americans intend to push democrats out of every office they can. Democrats must understand that when you betray this country, it’s people and it’s founding principles, you will be rejected. Period.

If nothing else, the SILENCE has proved that the polls are politically motivated. They must be really, really bad for Biden. I can't wait to vote for Trump and vote against the media.

Their silence is as revealing as a Biden enforcement by a rino swamp creature.
Actually I am shocked that they didn’t just lie about their poll results. The leftist media stopped caring about their reputation for honesty long ago.

Don't ever believe the polls, even if your candidate is leading! And especially don't become complacent! Remember Hillary in 2016? Or the Republicans in 1948 when the polls showed Dewey was a sure thing? This year is no time to slack off!
When are the Republicans going to start publicizing all those dims who pushed for violence in the streets? Campaign ads should feature those such as Pelosi and Mad Maxine inciting to violence, as well as others. There are still a large number who will vote for Bite Me, but maybe many aren't aware of just what their leaders have done.

1. WHO wrote the polling/tracking software? If a Leftie, guess what...
2. WHO came up with the 'loaded' questions?
3. WHO skewed the results by under sampling Repubs and over sampling Democraps?
Only God knows for sure, the Commies hide everything they do!

Not too surprising. The 'gold standard' Des Moines Register poll was canceled on the eve of the Iowa Caucus. Despite weeks of hype about how accurate the poll always is, they invented a reason to scrap it, and then the Caucus was a huge Fubar. Crazy Old Joe finished near the bottom of the barrel, which the media did not want to report on.

Plain and Simple; Most readers here at Lucianne's KNOW and HAVE KNOWN....The Democrat Party is on a mission to commit POLITICAL SUICIDE this cycle. The Dimm's sold out to a group of 'Big Money' types. They figured to win the Lottery. Unfortunately, they picked a 'gibronie' candidate to run,;and running mate, who has a handicap of having to carry a mattress while wearing knee-pads while career building.. Even the Blind can pick the winners in this Election.

FTA: "People like a winner, and the left-leaning polling companies know that if a candidate appears to be winning, he will automatically attract more voters."
That has always been true. Big Mo', and champions around the watercooler. Polling is a bought-and-paid-for service. They are PR machines. Biden never could draw flies outside corrupt Delaware. 2020 is no different.

Hillary still believes in the polls and will go to her grave believing it.
Polls, smolls, are like junk mail being delivered to you daily. You don't need it and toss it out. Polls are 'comfort food' for the left but in this case their race horse is a mule.
After this one election cycle the party on the left will not re-emerge as the democrat party they will probably purge the old guard and identify as full blown communist the writing is on the wall. Democrats have swung so far left that the only thing stopping them are the old old democrat holdovers like Pelosi, Durbin and Hoyer it will be the party of AOC in coming election cycles.

"Trump is surging and Biden submerging."
It's a simple tactic, the only kind that democrats understand, don't pay for polls that you know will be unfavorable and the pollsters will not conduct a new poll. The last good numbers you had will stand as the latest results. It doesn't matter that those numbers are lies, they are OFFICIAL.

Disappointing that Andrea resorts to writing a column loaded with tweets that she paraphrases. She's better than that.
