In reading the New York State travel advisory, I am reminded of one of my favorite scenes from a Woody Allen movie, this one from Bananas. Having ascended to power, the dictatorial rebel leader Esposito announces his new rules for San Marcos:
From this day on, the official language of San Marcos will be Swedish. ... In addition to that, all citizens will be required to change their underwear every half-hour. Underwear will be worn on the outside so we can check. Furthermore, all children under 16 years old are now...16 years old!

According to the Preamble of our Constitution, one of the purposes for establishing our Constitutional Republic was to insure domestic tranquility:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The dictionary defines Tranquility as a peaceful, calm state, without noise, violence, worry, etc. It is only late August 2020 and there must be a certain level of desperation

As wise stewards of the land, North America's Indians routinely started forest fires. They wanted grazing grounds for the animals they hunted and open spaces to live and hunt on. So before Columbus arrived, there was a lot less forested land than we have today.
The Europeans put an end to the Indian fires, and for centuries, they harvested the forests for timber. But that has ended in many parts of the country, California in particular. After the 1906 earthquake, San Francisco was rebuilt using lumber from the Santa Cruz forest, just south of the city. But I don't believe it's been harvested since.

To my surprise, Jack Cashill's new book, Unmasking Obama, couldn't be more relevant to the political struggle facing us today. In 2020, as in 2008 (and throughout the two Obama presidential terms), the key to political power is what must be called "information warfare" (my term, not Jack's) between the mighty establishment media and the feisty conservative alternative media, which Jack likens to the samizdat underground commentary in the old Soviet Union. It is the process of the unmasking of the phony propaganda peddled by the all-powerful establishment by the resource- and prestige-poor "Lilliputians" (an appropriation of Jonathan Swift's work that the satirist surely would approve of)

Yes, they want a bloody revolution, and in Portland, the dress rehearsal is underway. Downtown has been sacked, and the revolutionaries have taken to the streets of residential neighborhoods, terrifying residents. The message is clear: police cannot protect you, so shut up and let the new powers-that-be run things.
Yesterday, the Portland Police Bureau seemed to confirm that message, that they are powerless to stop the revolution. At RedState, Shipwreckedcrew wrote about the absence of police in a violent clash between Antifa/BLM forces and "Back the Blue" forces, said to include The Proud Boys.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said that if he wins the presidency in November's election, he will raise taxes on Americans who earn more than $400,000 a year.
In an interview with ABC's David Muir that aired Sunday, Biden discussed his plan for raising taxes that included this segment of the population and appeared to include businesses as well.“I will raise taxes for anybody making over $400,000,” Biden said. “Let me tell you why I'm going to do it. It’s about time they start paying a fair share of the economic responsibility we have. The very wealthy should pay a fair share — corporations should pay a fair share.”

A story ripped through the conservative blogosphere on Friday: Two young women stole and destroyed anti-Biden signs, stole and threw away a MAGA hat that a young boy was holding, verbally abused the young boy, and then threw punches at the people trying to recover their property.
New information about the event emerged on Saturday, and it revealed that the women were even worse than we thought. However, it also shows that conservatives are fighting back.

The chances of President Trump getting reelected in November are looking extremely good, Newt Gingrich said Saturday night.
"I'm predicting that it will be a dramatically bigger victory than people currently expect," the former House speaker from Georgia said during an appearance on Fox News' "Watters' World."
A Trump victory is "beginning to build," Gingrich added.
Gingrich was reacting to the Democratic Convention, saying that when the GOP gathers this week at the Republican Convention, the party needs only to continue pointing out their differences from Democrats in order to bolster Trump's chances.

A Florida woman shot and killed a man who returned to her home after an argument early Saturday and tried to use a tire iron to smash his way inside, authorities said.
The shooting happened just after 6 a.m. in an unincorporated area of Auburndale in Polk County, Sheriff Grady Judd said at a news conference. Judd said it appeared the “shooter was perfectly legal to defend her home from a burglar.”
“You have a right to protect yourself in your home and be free from home invaders, armed burglars, and certainly he was armed with a tire iron and making an attempt to come in through the window,”

IMO, Cuomo is trying to cover up for his incompetence and negligence REQUIRING infected patients to go to nursing homes, which, predictably, killed about 20,000 NY citizens in those nursing homes.
