The Democrats managed to launch the pantomime horse of their nominees into the election campaign after a strained farce of a virtual convention. It is an ambitious exercise. An election platform, no major components of which could possibly receive the support of a majority of Americans, is fronted by an apparently inoffensive presidential candidate and an ostensibly presentable running mate. And the sleight-of-hand of making these two the standard-bearers of a radical socialist and authoritarian program was covered by a diversionary crescendo of Trump-hate.
Examined carefully, none of it is remotely acceptable to a majority of Americans. The Democrats’ presidential candidate, Joe Biden, is 77. And after 48 years

Black writes great essay on the essence of what’s going on with the Dems. Biden reduced to being a “nice guy”. their “Mr. Rogers” . Hardly accurate. We have seen Biden being meaner than dirt. For decades. But that’s all this doddering fool leaves them with. The defanged old man. Black goes on to review the other speakers. Surgically. Saves the most scathing for Obama.
Fill the tank by reading this piece. Black always gives me inspiration.

OP, I heard Newt Gingrich being interviewed on the radio last week and he said the same thing - Biden’s campaign will fall apart before 11/3.

Well, a couple of things. We have had a 'Mr. Rogers' in the White House. His name was jimmy Carter.
Second...if biden, God forbid, is elected, we'll have open borders. Every single leader in third, second or even first world countries will be flying their sick and/or troublesome citizens to the U.S. to get rid of them and if we have free college for everyone, I intend to enroll in the University of Washington. They better not not let me in. I think we should all decide to go back to college or go for the first time, flood the admission offices.

Biden is El Cid, the 11th century Spanish warlord. According to legend, after death, El Cid's body was arrayed in armor and placed on a horse to lead his army to one last victory.

As usual, Conrad Black lays out the facts clearly and accurately. Well said, sir.
And I always love that he brings out perfectly good words which are not even IN the vocabularies of many/most of the leftist loons that infest the Enemedia. Leitmotif, platitudinous, mendacity, reproaching and gangrenous are all wonderful, evocative words, far too rarely used by the sad sack scribes of the current younger generations, so poorly educated and lazy, with their limited vocabularies.
I love his framing of the DNC convention. "There was a kindergarten aspect to the whole proceeding."
Yes, and a hateful stench, too. And I don't doubt that Senile Joe's speech was another "duct tape and sealing wax" paste up job using the latest modern "no cut" video editing to blend together 6 dozen takes to try to have one at least presentable "live" speech which was a live as last week's 'fresh' mackerel.

Biden is a despicable, lecherous, morally corrupt snake. Take one look at the montage of videos with him hugging, kissing and basically fondly young girls. He is a pathetic piece of humanity that has and sees no problem taking credit for others hard work, hence his many proven plagiarizing offenses. He barely knows where he is on any given day, cannot complete a sentence unless reading from a teleprompter, and probably needs a daily transfusion just to get the bathroom. Yeah, that’s someone I want for our president…

Biden could never be mistaken for a good guy, Mister Rogers type by anyone who watched how proud of himself, and how clever he thought himself to be in attacking Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearings.
I’ve had no respect for him since that contemptible display of his lack of character, and there has been no indication that he has changed toward the better after all of these years.

You laugh, #8 but my first purchase after setting up a BBS in the 80's was a spelling dictionary. Man, they were brutal!

I often miss the calm (if challenging) writing and musing of William F. Buckley Jr. and then God send Conrad Black.

Let's not insult Mr. Rogers. Look at Joe now and last year. There is such a vacant look as his mind is gone.
Let's call Joe what he is- a common theft who used his job to pay off him and his family.
