Queens, N.Y.—Windows were smashed on two more No. 7 trains Friday night, police said, as the MTA warns that the ongoing vandalism could impact service. Patrick Warren, the MTA’s chief safety and security officer and acting COO of MTA NYC Transit, said 21 windows were busted on two trains.(Snip) Officials believe the vandalism is happening from inside the train using a blunt object while the train is in motion, Warren said. The motive behind the vandalism remains unclear, but it’s costing the MTA hundreds of thousands of dollars. The smashed windows from Friday night alone cost the cash-strapped transit authority

Well obviously it's Amish tourists going wild in the big city. Sort of the New York City version of Stendhal Syndrome.

I've always enjoyed NYC despite its politics but I have not been there since March and it's not because of the Wuhan virus. There's been no reason to go there, and it looks like that will continue. Sadly Bill DeBlasio actually WANTS this for NYC and has managed to bring the city back to the Dinkins era, destroying in months what it took 20 years to build. How sickening.

Guess blah blah didn’t want anyone riding the subways to be next to a policeman .Rather a mugger , thug anyday ??

Here's an idea. Lets total up all the costs for rioting, (police, repairing and replacing, courts and incarceration, medical, etc) over the last couple decades and then declare that "reparations". Bill paid.

Back in the old days there were movies that had Transit Police riding the subways. Were they defunded?

Why not call for the social workers to talk with these window breakers?
Surely their psychological problems could be resolved through compassionate discussions.
Last thing in the world is to alarm them with law enforcement!
You are getting the government you voted for!
Enjoy the suck!

During the run-up to the General Election these crimes causing costly damage to public and private property are bound to intensify as the leftist and Liberal Democrats and their supporters ramp up their plans to create chaos through the election process. Anyone above moron status can see what the Democrats are covertly perpetrating in order to overthrow the system of law and order in the USA.

My guess is the dum dem leaders in New York City don’t ride the subway. They have a chauffeured limousine. So why should they care?

It doesn't matter, there is no longer any place to go in New York City. The city is closed for business and the trains might as well stop running. Let the black hoodlums walk to wherever they are going.

Maybe the MTA purchasing agent should seek a supplier with windows at less than $750 each....

We are witnessing the creation of an urban wasteland one broken window at a time. The communities will police themselves, right Bill? Who needs police? Turns out NYC does. Your plans aren't working, Bill.
DeBlasio deserves to be removed from office for dereliction of duty. He has turned his back on the job he was elected to do. He has sided with the criminals.

Last month, the US Postal Service issued a stamp celebrating "graffiti art" as part of a series on "Hip Hop" pride. It's not a huge jump from spray painting someone else's building to busting out someone else's window on a train.

Someone is having fun with one of those window breakers the police carry for emergencies. They have video cameras in those trains, but they have a shiftless Mayor.
By the way, back when criminals had to repay their debts in CASH they'd either enter into indentured servitude to pay off the debt OR they'd be sent to a hard labor prison for a time that satisfied the judge. Lots of cotton would need to be picked or big rocks made into little rocks to earn the $300k this punk cost the citizenry.

Do away with broken-windows policing and what do you get? Broken windows, of course. Real New Yorkers endorse this as artistic expression, or as evidence that someone needs more social services from the billion-dollar-plus black hole of a mental health program run by the mayor's racist lesbian wife.
