Members of the House are reportedly considering rushing back from their August break to address the Trump administration’s handling of the U.S. Postal Service. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic colleagues are discussing a possible return to Washington within the next two weeks, sources told Politico. The Chamber had originally planned to stay in recess until mid-September. Pelosi hashed out options for an early return with House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) during an “emergency” call Saturday, the outlet reported.

Defund the Postal Service. Anybody but me noticing how these Deep State operatives in the USPS are playing dirty with our mail? They hope, if they ruin enough boxes marked, "Fragile!" we will take their side to get them whatever they want. Nope. Just the opposite. I now look for who the carrier will be before ordering anything. I hope they lose so much business we can downsize them, Wish I could post a photo of how my electronics box looked when it got here after 21 days in transit. Everything inside it was ruined.

I have a small business on Etsy that offers free shipping VIA USPS. They are killing me. I get at least 10 messages from customers every week wanting to know where their packages are. Half of the time tracking shows that they were delivered only to have them magically appear two days later and some just never arrive. I have no choice but to use them for my business but I would walk my vote to DC before I would trust them to deliver it.

There is nothing Pelosi can do to fix the post office. Like McConnell says about judges, it is about personnel, and the post office hasn't hired one person based on merit in 75 years. What good personnel they have by accident are told what to do, where to stand, where to be, and for how long, no incentive to do anything. And by the way, the problem is not just the post office. All those letters with incorrect addresses were placed in the mailbox by Democrat like people that have not taken the time to review their own work.

Joe Biden selected a running mate based on the color of her skin. He rejected other candidates based on the color of their skin. He did this openly and without apology. Think about that for a moment. Let that sink in. In the year 2020, more than six decades after America desegregated public schools, a nominee for president from a major political party brazenly displayed outright racism in picking a running mate. It is a mockery of everything Martin Luther King fought for. A perversion of the entire civil rights movement.

The debate over schools reopening has affected how Americans view teachers’ unions. It has been well-publicized that the unions in many districts have submitted political demands that have little to do with pandemic safety as a condition of returning to the classroom. None of the political demands have anything to do with educating children, either. One of the requirements, defunding the police, has actually been getting children killed in cities like New York City, Chicago, and Atlanta. Perhaps the most annoying displays were members of the teachers’ unions protesting school openings in large groups while maintaining that returning to the classroom is too dangerous.

The news is filled with reports of President Trump's "assault" on the United States Postal Service. Former President Barack Obama said Trump is trying to "actively kneecap" the Postal Service to suppress the vote. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called the House back into session this week and has set an "urgent hearing" for August 24, demanding Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and the head of the Postal Service Board of Governors

In early May German units and personnel had rushed to surrender, preferably to the Western allies. On May 7, General Alfred Jodl signed his country’s formal surrender. Alas, the war in the Pacific continued. At that time U.S. forces were in the midst of the battle for Okinawa. That fight did not conclude until June, after roughly 130,000 military deaths, the vast majority Japanese. Even more civilians died, roughly half of the island’s population of 300,000. Any political adviser who could tell a presidential candidate what a voter would be thinking when that person stands in a voting booth next November would be worth their weight in gold. But no one can. Most voters don’t think about national security when they step into the voting booth. They should, because one aspect of that issue is as clear an indicator as anyone can find of who can be trusted to perform the duties of the president. One important part of a president’s job is to maintain the confidentiality of America’s secrets. Some presidents disclose secrets for political gain.

If you are queasy about entrusting the U.S. Postal Service with a vastly expanded role in our electoral system in the midst of a crucial election, the following news will exacerbate your nausea. Last Friday, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) followed the lead of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) by endorsing presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Thus far, most objections to increasing the role of the USPS in the election process involve the inevitable logistical problems that will accompany a precipitous expansion of mail-in voting. The addition of overt partisanship among postal workers to inefficiency renders it obvious that the widespread expansion of vote-by-mail is dangerous.
