The Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday struck down a lower court’s ruling and declared that it is constitutional for only men to register for the draft, as reported by The Hill.
A federal court in 2019 attempted to strike down the U.S. Supreme Court’s original ruling in 1981 that women could be excluded from registering with the Selective Service System since combat jobs at the time were made exclusively for men.
In overturning the lower court’s ruling, the Fifth Circuit’s three-judge panel reasoned they did not have the authority to overrule a Supreme Court ruling due to its superiority over all other judicial institutions in the nation.

Every social movement begins with a real or perceived injustice or inequality. The originators are usually honest would be reformers. Eventually opportunists infiltrate the movement and the objectives begin to exceed the original intent. Then the militants appear and the the goal posts move again and almost inevitably evolve from equality to unique rights (sex change)or even superiority ( cancel culture). The movement moves from peaceful to militant and inclusion to exclusion.
The original feminists didn't intend to have women in combat but the freedom to pursue opportunities usually only afforded to men at the times.

There is no draft - just registration. But just try going down to the mall and tell you average 18 year old mall rat that she HAS to do something.
Annnnnd - all males - and that includes legal and illegal aliens are supposed to be registered for the non existent draft - Aiii Caramba!

There hasn't been a draft since 1973. It would take an act of Congress to reinstate it. Yet, all males are required to register when they turn 18.
There's no reason at all that women shouldn't be required to do the same thing.

OK, then NO MORE women in the armed forces at all.
I have several relatives who have been or are women in uniform, but if they are exempt from the draft, dump them ALL out.

Its just registration? The same argument could be made for guns then. I'm not buying it. Every single weapon of war ever invented has been used.
I served with a lot of women and respected and have been lifelong friends with many of them. That said, when it came to the dirty, sweaty conditions and backbreaking work, very few could keep up. They made fine officers and administrative types, but the grunt work should be left to the guys.

Do we really want an armed force that is half men, half women? In a volunteer force, many more men will volunteer than women. If women are required to register for equality reasons, wouldn't the draftees have to be equal numbers of men and women? For the record, I don't think women should serve in combat roles in war. The Supreme Court has never interpreted the equal protection clause to mean absolute equality between the sexes.

you people may not know this, but registration with Selective Service was re-instituted by Jimmy Carter, in what he believed was a show of strength against the Iranians, during the hostage crisis. Jimmy was a pitiful president.
The selective Service could disappear, along with its bureaucracy, tomorrow, and one computer nerd in High School could identify all draft age lads, along with their mailing addresses and cell phone numbers.. and it could be done quickly.
Shut down the Selective Service.

To be clear, we are not in a military conscription status. I wonder what effect this item has on the ERA I knew would be problematic at it's inception.

Get serious, if women can now join the infantry they can be included in the draft. That’s just common sense. It really does not make any difference because a draft will never be called until the Communist Chinese military passes through California, Oregon, and Washington and mounts a ground assault against what is left of the old USA.

So we can just forget about all that feminist claptrap about "equality".
Who would volunteer to die to defend feminists? Let the enemy have them.
