Major League Baseball teams are looking into introducing camera technology to ballparks that could detect whether or not fans are wearing masks in the stands. The software could also flag attendees who are wearing them improperly, like leaving their nose uncovered or dangling them around their neck. Several teams are in talks with Airspace Systems Inc, a California security firm with technology that can scan security footage for mask 'hot spots.' In trial runs, the Airspace system was able to clock mask use with over 80 percent accuracy.

Just play the 60 game season this year along with the playoffs and close the book on it. Games are better on TV. The greed for more money by the owners is overwhelming.

I quit my 50+-year lifelong fandom of MLB and the Los Angeles Dodgers after 26 years of disrespect by both entities. My final straw was the greed and lack of concern for the fans displayed by billionaire owners and millionaire players earlier this year.
The BLM nonsense made my departure a little easier. And now this invasive, authoritarian idea makes my decision even easier to swallow.

Haven't watched a game since the strike in the 90s and I certainly don't intend to start now.

Masks that are essentially ineffective for viruses, outdoors? Really?
The sunshine and atmospheric humidity levels deal with most viruses quite handily, usually.
Guess they never wondered why virus researchers wear positive-pressure bio-tainer suits in their labs, if they're serious about not becoming infected.

Don't you have to have people who WANT to go first? Everyone I know has had it with any pro sports. You kneel, you lose. Get woke, go broke. But, I'm sure the die hard fans will love having Big Brother in the stands telling them they have to drink their 21 dollar beer with their masks on.

Time to start auditing health care professionals that are diagnosing people as covid19 positive.

My hat is off to good old American ingenuity , there is no threat to humanity , no crisis that some enterprising entrepreneur cannot remedy. Reminds me of the year 1999 when I would see vehicles with temporary magnetic signs ..Y2K Response Team ! Don't worry baseball fans if anyone is exhaling Airspace is there for you. This is just ridiculous. Your outside in the fresh air, your at least fifty feet away from any player if not hundred or more, the stadiums have more than 40,000 seats, so even at 25% capacity fans could be separated by more than six feet, and concession stands could either be closed, or just a few could be open. Face masks don't work anyway to stop the virus unless your wearing a N-95 mask, and even that isn't fool proof, but if masks are required, then make people wear them only when they leave their seats. Problem solved, but since such common sense suggestions fall on the deaf ears of stupid people who believe BLM is about black lives, then to hell with all of them.

But it will be ok if black fans with grievances loot the refreshment stands and burn the stadium down...
Years of grievances allow them special dispensation.
I have so many reasons to tell mlb and nfl and nba and noose-car to go to hell.
Pro sports bites the big one now

MLB's strategy to entice fans back to the game is to make them feel like they're in North Korea?

They seem intent on driving fans away by any means necessary. No loss to us. We stopped going when they decided to blare Hip Hop/Rap music at 110 decibels between every half inning.

Too bad they didn't have that camera system in place when Fraud Fauci was sitting in the stands (with no social distancing either) with his mask off after he 'threw the first pitch' (tossed like a three year old sissy).

Sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it. That's what I would want to do. Pay a bunch of money to go sit on a slab to watch a stupid game, pay $25 dollars for hotdogs, choke on a mask, and be videoed to make sure I couldn't get a breath of air. I think I will pass on all that fun.

80 percent accuracy? Isn't anything with a margin of error over 5 percent considered statistically worthless?
