Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best announced Monday evening she is retiring, the same day the city council voted to slash police department funding.
“This was a difficult decision for me, but when it’s time, it’s time,” Best said in an email to the police department. The first black woman to serve as police chief in Seattle, Best will step down on Sept. 2. (tweet)Best told local reporter Brandi Kruse that “she felt targeted by a ‘punitive’ proposal to cut her pay by 40%.”
“I do feel like it’s … animus toward me specifically,” she added. (tweets)The city council approved a plan Monday that included decreasing the size of the Seattle

They cut her salary and it would have been less than her predecessor, who was a White woman. So, yeah, you could call it racism, I sure hope the perpetually offended make a lot of noise over this.

Poster #3, she was a police officer for 26 years before becoming the Chief. She stood up for her men and women, defended them all the way and that's why she was so disliked by the marxist city council.

I applaud Chief Best for tolerating no more of this, She asked the City Council for a resolution condemning the antifa invasion of her neighborhood last weekend, and they refused to do even that. Add the defunding of her department and her own salary, and she is right to walk away.
Seattle was once a beautiful, vibrant city, one I loved to visit. I cannot even imagine what lies in store.

Modern plantation system still needs subservient cotton-pickers. Decided she wasn't pulling her weight. Got to go. That salary cut was a push-out. (Be interesting to see who they replace her with.)

Get clear before the implosion. She can't do anything useful, constrained by Idiot Jenny, so time to clear out and let the crash and burn be on someone else's watch.

Well, there's one milestone, one shattering of the glass ceiling that didn't work out so well, did it? Just like the female mayor. When the going gets tough, the tough are nowhere to be found.

She needs to take the rest of the force with her and go into a private security business. Let those idiots defend their own homes.

The only good thing about Seattle now is that it is on the West Coast. The chief should have ordered her officers to defend themselves, downtown Seattle and the CHOP with lethal force and taken the heat for it. That's what a leader does.

Push hard in the state legislature
Then all hell breaks loose
Minneapolis Seattle Sacramento Portland
New York Chicago Lost Angeles
That’s the corrupt socialist Marxist lefties
Spreading their rotten filth like a virus
It’s time to eradicate that devil virus!

Poster #5, yes I am. I was 12yrs old when my folks moved to Seattle (from Vancouver Wa, not Canada). I can't believe that was 60 years ago. My husband is 4th generation Seattlite. We are sick at what's happening to our once beautiful city. We live in a suburb immediately north of Seattle. Our boundary lines connect. We've lived here for 41 years. Seattle used to be a clean, friendly city. I think it all started to change with the WTO riots, things never went back to normal after that. One thing a lot of people don't know. In November 1970 there was an initiative on the ballot to legalize abortion and it passed so abortion has been legal here since January 1971.

I remember riots in NY when the original Mayor Daley was there. He went on TV and said something to the effect of Any looters will be shot on site. There were no riots and no problems.

#9 when they cut your salary by 40% it also effects the retirement ceiling. Retiring before the 40% cut was the right thing to do.

She absolutely did the right thing. I read that she wasn't even consulted on the reduction in force. Restructuring your department without even consulting you shows a complete lack of respect. That alone is justification for resigning.
Throw in a 40% pay cut for good measure? That's a no-brainer, time to go. (and the city council knew it too).

She should have left that “personal animus” out of her resignation remarks. As close as she could come to “racism”? Whiners.
