Travelers coming into New York City from 35 COVID-19 hotspot states were met at road entry points Wednesday under a program announced earlier in the day by Mayor Bill de Blasio. At a press conference on Wednesday morning, de Blasio said those who do not self-isolate for 14 days once they arrive in the city from those locations could face a $10,000 fine. He failed to explain how he would enforce the order.Pictures taken by DailyMail.com show police officers stationed at the Goethals Bridge toll plaza Wednesday evening. The sheriff's department scanned plates and pulled people over, onlookers say. New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito,

NY, NYC in particular, has become the arm pit of the east coast. I really don't think that many people are clamoring to visit. Most of us can think of better ways to spend our time and money.

He probably has the right to turn them back, but 'force' them into quarantine?
Am I reading this right?
If I am, he's now in the "drag him down to the oak for a necktie party" zone. I agree he can control his borders, but he has no right to detain American citizens. And if his police force are involved, they are accessories.

I have questions. 1.) What if the car with, say, Connecticut plates, is stopped but all the people in it are illegal aliens who just arrived in the U.S. from a disease-ridden third world country 2.) what if a car with Illinois plates is stopped but every one in it is black 3.) what if the car’s plates are from Ohio but the car is a rental and the occupants, other than the driver, don’t have drivers licenses or other government issued i.d. with them 4.) where will citizens from other states be housed for the quarantine period 5.) do U.S. interstate travel laws give a city mayor the right to quarantine or deny travel to non-residents 6.) what other tasks are sheriff’s deputies disregarding in order to man ports of entry to NYC and is their safety from criminal activity being maintained 7.) are truck drivers exempt from the check points and, if so, why 8.) has the mayor considered the fact that many people will lie 9.) does the mayor’s long term plan for re-election in 2021 include emptying NYC of U.S. citizens with IQ’s over 80

I certainly hope this policy includes truckers bringing food and other necessities in. Blasio is self-blockading the city. He appears to be trying to inflict maximum pain unto his populance - I wonder how much $@#+ these people will take before they (finally) scream "enough" and drive that grifter OUT. Or better yet, have a hanging party.

He needs to be removed from NYC.
I'm originally a New Yorker and over the years have always enjoyed trips to the City. A gritty city with a colorful history and an energy that grabs as soon as you arrive. Hearing Frank Sinatra sing New York, New York always brings me back to those years. This monster who is in charge of things needs to feel some consequences. By the way, where's Mayor Bloomberg? Not a peep from him.
De Blasio is doing what many other Democrat mayors and governors across the country are doing. They are following the party line. This is how they are taking control of the country by destroying in the streets.

I seem to remember this happening in one of those larger European countries a number of years ago. You had to have your identity papers with you at all times to be produced on demand for no reason other than the official wanting to see them. I even remember a special group that had to wear yellow stars along with their papers. What ever happened to them? Sounds like the nazis are starting up again.

It seems Warren Wilhelm Jr. (who changed his name to his mother's maiden name while dropping the first name altogether) is living up to his German roots. Soon, people in NYC will need signed letters of transit in order to escape. Are badges that must be worn in plain sight on your clothes, showing your rank & social status, far behind?
De Blows-io is a red diaper baby and a dyed in the wool Marxist. Let there be no doubt. If he had more support, he'd use violence to get his way. What a shame that New York's Finest is allowing themselves to be used like this.

Nobody from any of the 35 States will travel to New York City for business and tourism and the New York City and be quarantined for 14 days. The result will be the New York City economy crashing further. Clearly that’s what the leftist and liberal Democrats want at least up to the day after the November 3 election.
The travel into and through New York City is massive and there is no way that the people who de Blasio is hiring to have travelers fill out forms are going to be effective, but will jam up motor vehicle traffic for miles. The same with trains where thousands of people are passing through the big railroad stations all day long.
In the end de Blasio’s latest fiasco will turn out to be a huge make work project for innumerable leftist and liberal Democrat supporters paid with Federal COVID money.
