Washington — New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit on Thursday seeking to disband the National Rifle Association (NRA), claiming its top officials diverted millions of dollars from the influential gun group for their personal use and enriched their families and close associates by awarding lucrative contracts.
The lawsuit from James, filed in New York state court, alleges the NRA and four of its top executives mismanaged funds and violated state and federal laws, resulting in the loss of more than $64 million for the organization in a span of three years. The senior leaders, James claims, used millions from the NRA's coffers on trips

So, she wants to shut down the NRA because they misspent NRA money, thus, they should not exist for the sake of their members?

But not the Clinton Foundation?
Weird.
President Trump's advice to the NRA: move your headquarters to Texas!
Good idea!

Standing? Were does the AG have standing to sue over alleged misuse of funds? Lawyer question to be sure. I can understand fraud and money laundering charges but the organizatin itself is another issue. Also, how can she sue to shut down a political advocacy organization? Doesn't the first amendment allow for citizens to organizte (peaceably assemble) and redress grievances? This is a major photo op and it will be interesting to see how it is handled bothi state and federal court.

If true, this alleged abuse is on LaPierre and his ilk. This is not an NRA problem but a personnel problem. Have fun trying to dismantle the organization.

Letita has discovered that the leaders of the NRA have been drinking coffee and dining out, and files suit to shut the organization down. If the leaders are overpaid, or abusing their powers, wouldn't that be something of concern to the members of the organization, rather than the AG of NY?

If individuals connected to the NRA hired management have violated a New York law she should prosecute them criminally. If the NRA, as it is chartered, and the elected Board of Directors, did nothing wrong why is she suing them civilly? The NRA is a nationally chartered organization of longstanding. Looks like another political hit job by a liberal Democrat State Attorney General against a conservative organization that supports the 2nd Amendment and President Trump during the run up to the November election.

There was a big hoohah over Allen West calling for LaPierre to step down last year. Is the prosecution based on that bad press?
