The tragically incompetent mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, appeared on CNN’s State of the Union this weekend to deflect attention from the horror show unfolding in her city by blaming interlopers for its spiking murder rate: “We are being inundated with guns from states that have virtually no gun control, no background checks, no ban on assault weapons — that is hurting cities like Chicago.”
Although these accusations have leveled by Chicago politicians for decades now, they are a myth.
For one thing, there is no state in the nation with “virtually no gun control” or “no background checks.” Every time anyone in the United States purchases a gun

Every body who buys a gun has to be background check.
Private sales don't though.

To be honest for a moment here, there is no way on earth that any democrat could have reversed the damage that Rahm Emmanuel did during his tenure as mayor. It would take a concrete hard republican along the lines of a Trump to rescue Chicago from the ruin they are facing. But getting one elected in Chicago right now? It would be easier to change the course of an iceberg with a blow dryer than to pull that off.

Notice how the Communists always include no background checks when mouthing off about guns. What state doesn't have a background check to purchase a firearm? I don't know of any state that doesn't have a background check. I know the felons running around shooting people certainly didn't get any background check. Other than that, who are these idiots talking about? Interlopers? The idea that people are coming into the city just to shoot people is just stupid. Best decision I ever made was not moving to Chicago some 35 years ago.

Old man Daley would never have allowed this crap to go on. In 1968 he issued a shoot to kill order!

Lightfoot must think that guns go around shooting people, all on their own. She is not bright enough to understand that someone must buy bullets, load the gun, take it out on the street, aim at someone else, and pull the trigger. Yes, Lightfoot, it takes a thug in a crime-enabled city, like Chicago, to kill someone. Guns are just the tool.
Removing guns won't fix your problem, but, Lightfoot, you don't have the courage or the will to address the real problem because you are a democrat with an agenda that enables-and encourages- murder. You are among the lowest of lowlifes!

If murders were caused by guns all other cities would have Chicago's murder rate.

99% of these weapons are stolen guns or guns coming across our boarders. Thats a simple fact that seems to elude every democrat. Even with death, the death of children, politics is the name of the game. Reason and logic have no place in the empty democratic head. And tough gun laws do not exist in a democratic run city. Blacks arrested for violent crimes using an illegal gun are out on the streets before the arresting officer is done with his paper work. Crime is high because there are no consequences. These thugs have records as long as your arm and they are allowed to walk the streets until they hit the big one, murder. Then and only then, they may do some jail time. Got it.

It has way more to to with the quality of the citizens in Chicago than the availability of guns.

In Texas we seem to be handling it just fine. Of course we have license to carry here.

#1, private sales does not mean someone can go to another state buy a gun legally and then sell to someone in Chicago. The Chicago buyer has to abide by the laws of Chicago, as does the seller, which means he/she can't buy any gun without meeting all the laws, local and state. A private sale to a relative or someone you know is a very short leash. As soon as you start selling guns to strangers, you become entangled in FFL dealer laws.
What a stupid nation we have become. We hear this pitiful excuse from rat politicians for decades and NO one points out that they are admitting that both their unconstitutional gun ban laws AND their police and justice system are not doing their job. Chicago murders are not because of any other states gun laws or national gun laws, Chicago murders are a result of making the streets safe for criminals by disarming the citizens with no police records who follow the unconstitutional rat laws.

What Mayor Dath Maul knows, but does not DARE say, is that they don't need Gun Control.
What they need is THUG Control!

Oh pleeze. Chicago has had gun control since about 1980. Guns are stolen or bought on the black market. What she doesn't admit is how defenseless the victims are.
About twenty years ago, we had a rash of guns being stolen from police cars, any cars, pawn shops and gun shops were broken into on a regular basis. Even former police chief Demings had her service weapon stolen from her vehicle parked in front of their million dollar home in a gated community. Time went by and it was mayhem with criminals with guns. Go figure.
