Civil rights icon and 17-term Georgia Rep. John Lewis died Friday in Atlanta, The Associated Press has reported. He was 80. Lewis, the son of Alabama sharecroppers whose fight for racial equality spanned seven decades, had waged a long battle with advanced pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis he shared in December, 2019. “All of us were humbled to call Congressman Lewis a colleague, and are heartbroken by his passing,’ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement confirming the death. “May his memory be an inspiration that moves us all to, in the face of injustice, make ‘good trouble, necessary trouble,'” she said,

John Lewis, best remembered for lying about a supposed racial slur while walking with the despicable Pelosi in 2010 en route to the Obamacare vote. That behavior may be an inspirational memory among Democrats, but not among Americans. Pelosi's statement, as expected, is illogical and brainless.

He died in office after 17 terms. What a darn shame. He freaking had cancer, but wouldn't give up his lucrative seat. He fleeced US until the day he died, and then some. It's a good thing his wife preceded him in death, or we'd be paying her the rest of her life. These people never retire, and they own "their seats" in Congress, it seems. I wonder where his paycheck will continue to go now that he's deceased. There'd better not be a public funeral for him. Aren't those banned in most places, or is that just for the non-royals among US?
