Civil rights icon and 17-term Georgia Rep. John Lewis died Friday in Atlanta, The Associated Press has reported. He was 80. Lewis, the son of Alabama sharecroppers whose fight for racial equality spanned seven decades, had waged a long battle with advanced pancreatic cancer, a diagnosis he shared in December, 2019.
“All of us were humbled to call Congressman Lewis a colleague, and are heartbroken by his passing,’ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement confirming the death.
“May his memory be an inspiration that moves us all to, in the face of injustice, make ‘good trouble, necessary trouble,'” she said,

He will need more than indignation and anger to persuade the gatekeeper of the great beyond.

John Lewis, best remembered for lying about a supposed racial slur while walking with the despicable Pelosi in 2010 en route to the Obamacare vote. That behavior may be an inspirational memory among Democrats, but not among Americans.
Pelosi's statement, as expected, is illogical and brainless.

He'll win his 18th term in November. His grieving widow will channel his desires through a spirit guide.

I'll leave the comments for another day.
Prayers and sympathy to his family. While I didn't agree much with his politics over the past 30 years or so, he was certainly a key player in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.

I’m amazed he lived to be 80 with all that burden of “racial injustice” on his shoulders!

He died in office after 17 terms. What a darn shame. He freaking had cancer, but wouldn't give up his lucrative seat. He fleeced US until the day he died, and then some. It's a good thing his wife preceded him in death, or we'd be paying her the rest of her life. These people never retire, and they own "their seats" in Congress, it seems. I wonder where his paycheck will continue to go now that he's deceased. There'd better not be a public funeral for him. Aren't those banned in most places, or is that just for the non-royals among US?

I'm wondering if Lewis and Ruthie Ginsburg will pull a Yul Brynner, and have taped commercials for Biden beyond the grave. Brynner did it against smoking, a righteous cause.

"Fight for racial equality spanned seven decades." Well maybe fighting for two decades and then using race to get elected for three and a half decades.

He was a malignancy on the black community, trapping thousands of his constituents into a life of dependency and hopelessness. Sad part is the Atlanta district he represents will just send another poverty pimp to congress.

mr. marblemouth was never of any value to the people of the United States of America and he really crapped on his parade when he made that speech on the floor of the House calling for the impeachment of our duly elected President. can't feel one once of sadness for his demise.
