John Wayne's 1971 Playboy magazine interview has placed the legendary actor in the crosshairs of today's cancel culture social justice warriors. Activists demand that his name be removed from an Orange County, California, airport. What did Wayne say 49 years ago? He said: "I believe in white supremacy until the Blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people." He added, "I don't feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago, these people were slaves." Wayne's son Ethan does not defend his father's words, but asks for perspective:

The most formidable obstacle in their path currently is PDT and his election with 309 Electoral votes. Anything that will help toward overturning that is admissible. Everything that detracts is fair game.

What's next to cancel? Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Easter, April Fools Day, The Tooth Fairy, Leprechauns, New Years Eve, MLK's Birthday, Washington's birthday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Birthday Parties, Baptisms, Marriage, Divorce, Presidential Inauguration Day, Presidential elections, States rights, The Supreme Court, Baseball, football, basketball and hockey seasons, The Olympics, I mean where do you stop. How about canceling the cancel culture. Hmmmmmmm that's a good idea. Glad I thought of it.

How were MLK’s speeches received in ‘non-racist’ northern towns like Chicago and Boston? Musta bussed racists up there from Dixie eh?

We all are sinners. John Wayne was wrong about black folks. Harry Truman was wrong about Jews. The former mayor of Atlanta was wrong about Arabs. And I would contend that MLK was wrong about gay people. But, to quote a line from the theme song for the sitcom "Facts of Life," "You take the good; you take the bad; you take them both and there you have the facts of life." Both exist. Those canceling the past could one day be canceled. We need to find righteous indignation for what is wrong and we need to forgive it and correct it.

OOOPS....Inconvenient truths. People don't actually mostly think differently, they have just learned to suppress saying it out loud in most cases. Got to "celebrate" homosexuals. I complained about this stuff at work, being pushed down from NYC corporate office. My boss warned me not to talk about it at work, no disapproval, just "don't express that here, you won't win". As to Wayne - well, I have known a number of excellent black men and women, but overall, I still think that their culture here and in Africa, on the average, is seriously dysfunctional, NOT to be admired.

FTA: "Robert Kennedy, as attorney general, authorized wiretaps on Martin Luther King Jr., at a request made by the notorious FBI head, J. Edgar Hoover." And why are these records still sealed? MLK was a rapist enabler, and known to enjoy smacking around prostitutes (WHITE ones especially). Tear down his statues, rename the streets, swap out his national holiday with the ridiculous "Juneneenth" if we must have a special bLACK holiday.

While talking on Thursday to a coalition of leftwing activists hellbent on making Joe Biden president, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) announced that her dog Bailey "is definitely going to vote in November," and Warren said Bailey is "voting Democrat all the way." "Bailey for Biden!" Warren cheered. And Bailey is just the type of low-information voter the Democrats depend upon. For the record, Warren never said she was joking. Let's hope Warren is less serious about her dog being a registered Democrat than she was about herself being an American Indian. It'd all be less scary if Democrats weren't currently doing everything they can to make voter fraud easier this November

"I wasn't involved directly in the H1N1 response but I lived through it as a White House staffer and what I would say about it is a bunch of really talented, really great people were working on it and we did every possible thing wrong. Sixty million Americans got H1N1 during that period of time.

Commentators came out of the woodwork to ridicule President Donald Trump for allegedly turning his July 14 press conference into a campaign rally (and for being unpresidential). So what if he did? They objected that he veered into other topics when he was supposed to be talking about China and Hong Kong. Horrors! The press corps, of all people, has no standing to complain about topic drift at presidential press conferences when it routinely uses such events to ask questions unrelated to the announced topic. Presidents always frame their policy positions in the most favorable political light, especially this close to an election. Don't even think about saying Trump is unique on this.

A statue of Jesus Christ has been decapitated at a Florida church, as a wave of vandalism and arson at churches continues across the nation. Archbishop Thomas Wenski is requesting that the vandalism be investigated as a hate crime. The statue at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Southwest Miami-Dade was found vandalized and knocked from its pedestal on July 15. “This incident has saddened the parish community,” Good Shepherd said in a statement. “It is too soon to arrive to any conclusion, but we have seen other churches vandalized around the country. We totally ‘condemn’ this action. We invite our community to pray for peace.”

Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp suspended all local mask mandates in an executive order on Wednesday. Kemp overruled all local governments that issued an unconstitutional, mandatory mask ‘law.’ “State, county, or municipal law, order, ordinance, rule, or regulation that requires persons to wear face coverings, masks, face shields, or any other Personal Protective Equipment while in places of public accommodation or on public property are suspended to the extent that they are more restrictive than this Executive Order.” Last week Kemp blasted Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ executive order mandating face masks in public. Without fail, the media seems intent on making America out to be the lone failure in the world in the battle against the coronavirus. Many media outlets have described the United States as “losing the war” against the coronavirus because of the number of cases keeps going up. Axios, for example created a chart show that if all coronavirus patients (confirmed cases) were a city, it would be the third-largest city in the country. The recent trend of the media to focus on the total number of cases seems to be a result of the recent spike cases that failed to produce a similar spike in deaths.

We have been told repeatedly by health experts to demonstrate the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine and the other meds prescribed with it we need strict clinical trials. These are studies where some patients receive medication, and some do not. For many healthcare providers, this is a noxious thought if there is evidence to believe a treatment may work. How do you ethically deny a potential treatment to an eligible patient to conduct a study? So-called double-blind studies described above are the preferred method advocated by Dr. Fauci. These double-blind studies allow people to die in the name of “science” if a drug is effective. They are in the “control group.”

The National Football League celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. This should be a time of self-congratulation for the brutal sport, which has no similar counterpart outside the United States. The NFL's megaprofits dwarf those of other professional sports in the U.S. The Super Bowl, not the World Series, is America's national sports event. The league has survived all sorts of crises in the past. It was one of the first professional sports to integrate its teams, doing so in the 1920s. But the integration unfortunately ceased, and the NFL didn't reintegrate until the mid-'40s, becoming one of the last sports leagues to embrace fully a racially-blind meritocracy.

Jared Polis, the Democratic governor of Colorado, thinks those of us who oppose scientifically dubious, constitutionally suspect and dangerously overbroad face mask mandates are “selfish bastards.” I think Polis is a pandering pandemic control freak endangering public health, safety, and sanity. There. Now that the name-calling is out of the way, let’s talk facts. Contracting COVID can be fatal or debilitating for the elderly, immune-compromised and physically challenged. But there is no catastrophic public health emergency justifying sweeping government orders and ordinances that would force healthy citizens to wear masks in an increasingly oppressive climate of manufactured fear — completely untethered from pragmatic realities and risk assessments.

That is another lie designed to deflect from the president's own very bizarre relationship with Russia; to distract from the much validated reality that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Donald Trump," Rice said during a discussion with Washington Post Live.

Los Angeles County, the nation’s second-largest school district, announced this week that students will not be returning for in-person classes this fall and must instead continue to participate in the failed distance-learning experiment it initiated after the onset of COVID-19. This decision was made not by the parents or the schools but by the teachers union, which has opposed all attempts to reopen the county’s schools. United Teachers Los Angeles, which represents more than 35,000 teachers in the area, argued at first that the health of its members and the students they teach was the primary concern.
