‘So when did your family convert to Christianity?’ asked an American General early on in the occupation of Iraq. ‘About two thousand years ago,’ replied the Iraqi.
The Middle Eastern culture and context of Christ is something that the Western Church seems happy to forget. That Jesus was very specifically a Jew is something we have found even more difficult – as Christianity’s uncomfortable bouts of anti-Semitism have shown.
It is because of this that the new Archbishop of York’s claim this week in an interview with the Sunday Times that ‘Jesus was a black man’ is so unfortunate.
The plight of Middle Eastern Christians should be a matter of outrage

As an eleven year old kid 65 years ago in Sunday school, it was apparent Jesus and everyone in his world was Jewish. It was also apparent his was a Rabbi.

Our tour guide in Israel was a Christian, belonging to the Syrian Orthodox Church, but born in Jerusalem. At one time the Christian population in Israel was 20%. He said it is now 1%. He joked that since he and his family spoke Aramaic he would translate for us when we met Our Lord. He often said his family had been Christian for 2000 years, a very proud heritage!

Two points: 1. ''Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.''
2. ''My sheep know my voice; I know them, and they follow me...''
The master said to make disciples. He never said make professional priests and preachers.

From Alfred Burt:
Some children see Him lily white
the infant Jesus born this night
Some children see Him lily white
with tresses soft and fair
Some children see Him bronzed and brown
the Lord of heav'n to earth come down
Some children see Him bronzed and brown
with dark and heavy hair
(with dark and heavy hair!)
Some children see Him almond-eyed
This Saviour whom we kneel beside
Some children see Him almond-eyed
With skin of yellow hue!
Some children see Him dark as they
Sweet Mary's Son to whom we pray
Some children see Him dark as they
And, ah! they love Him so!
The children in each different place
Will see the Baby Jesus' face
Like theirs but bright with heav'nly grace
And filled with holy light!
O lay aside each earthly thing
and with thy heart as offering
Come worship now the infant King
'tis love that's born tonight!

It isn't Christianity with the antisemitic problem, it is the liberal Jews who deny Christ his being as well as his origins. Read in the Bible how the Jews were the first to receive the word of God, but they ignored it so God gave His words to the gentiles who accepted Jesus for what he was and is. The ancient Jews hated Jesus with a passion, especially angry that a Jew from Nazareth claimed to be the Son of God. Nazareth back then for Jews was the equivalent of flyover country for liberals today. Nothing good can ever come from there in their opinions.

True #6. I am reminded of the Matt 15, one of my favorite instances of Jesus' mercy. The Canaanite woman who followed after Jesus begging him to heal her daughter...
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

It's truly sad that people are so ignorant of Scripture. Look at Jews today and see that they're not dark skinned, but quite white. I don't care what skin color a person has, our Bible is quite clear that there are only TWO races on this earth - Jew and Gentile. Jews trace their lineage back to Abraham through the maternal line, per custom. Fast forward to the Apostle Paul, who makes it quite clear in Galatians 3:28 that, "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." So, do you want to be "non-racist?" Then believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and you will be free from the race curse.
In the meantime, Jesus is God the Son incarnate, who inhabited the body of a sinless male body, born to a virgin in the line of King David (through Bathsheba!) to be Jewish by birth, and through his step-father, Joseph, adopted through Jewish custom, to be a physical heir to David's kingdom. There were over 100 Old Testament prophecies fulfilled by Jesus Christ during his first advent on earth and all of these SHOULD have been a wake up call to the religious leaders of Israel, but their hardness of heart was equaled only by Pharaoh of the Exodus, with a few exceptions being Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea.

We're ALL black men - - get it?

Thanks 5, for the Burt lyric. I love that song, and play it every Christmas at my church. The mood is perfect for an offertory. There is a whole book of Burt Carols. It was a family enterprise spanning decades! 'Caroling, Caroling', and 'We'll Dress the House' are two of the most joyous.

Personally know a retired executive who, many years ago, had a near-death experience and said he was greeted by our Lord who had strawberry blond hair, incredibly piercing blue eyes, and a dimple in His chin. Without any spoken word, the executive was told and understood it was not yet his time and he was sent back to his body on earth. Simply relating a personal account of a devout Christian man.

Jesus was a Jew of Abyssinian descent. There are Jews in Ethiopia today who would be a good guide to how he looked. Something like Anwar Sadat.

He had to be from the House of David to fulfill prophecy! His followers called him Rabbi and he taught with great authority to the marvel of people in the Temple (Jewish Temple) He wasn't white, he wasn't black, he was a Jew! Paul was brought to bring salvation to the Gentiles through Christ. Jesus was rejected (and still is to the most part) by His own people. But, in the last days there will be a huge movement of Jews converting to Christ says Scripture!

All of the books of the New Testament except two (Luke and Acts, written by Luke) were written by Jews. Not all Jews rejected Christ.

The only clue we have to Yeshua's (Jesus) actual physical appearance comes from Isaiah 53:2, and it has nothing to do with his skin color. He was not attractive physically, according to this text. Nevertheless, there is no historical or Biblical evidence to support the idea that Jesus was of African descent.
Isaiah 53:2 (ESV):
"For he grew up before him like a young plant,
and like a root out of dry ground;
he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
and no beauty that we should desire him."
