It took the newly empowered Virginia Dems less than six months, but the state is now paying a heavy price for the last election. Obvious is the ruinous transformation spawned by the pandemic and the never-ending anarchy resulting from BLM-themed mob rule. Longer-term changes started July 1 as the left's new and controversial laws took effect. Many are sex-themed:
Elimination of all basic health and safety standards in abortion facilities (higher risk for women). Mandated health coverage for transgender services and requires health carriers to pay for genital reconstruction surgeries (expect increased health care costs).

Millions of Leftist move-ins to Northern Virginia and Tidewater in past decades and millions of dollars in outside political money from Soros, Bloomberg and others have ruined a balanced state. God help us. Please.

So this is to me an indication that a new theory of mine may have legs. I believe there may be a Silent Minority among lifelong democrats that is afraid to speak out and lies on political polls. Plumbers, builders, shop owners, etc. who hold traditional American Values, Family Values and atternd church services who won't vote for our Nation's destruction. Easily 10-15% nationwide.

Personally, I don't have any problem with people who are confused with what to do with their personal body plumbing, but I can't figure out why so many people would actually vote for them to run their government and think they wouldn't also be confused and screw up anything having to do with health services and "pipelines." OMG...the irony, the irony...

Do it, #1. We left 2 years ago and moved to red South Carolina. SC is what Virginia used to be like when we first lived there - sane government, friendly people, southern hospitality, harmonious race relations, very few Muslims.

Another ‘elections have consequences’ story. An alarming number of leftists are leaving the States they’ve destroyed and transplanting themselves elsewhere. Taxes skyrocket under Democrat governance precisely because they want taxpayers to foot the bill for every ridiculous idea they can conceive of. Once it gets completely out of control they all flee. By then the damage is done.

#1, I lived there (NOVA) in the boom years of the 80s. Fun. Lots of things to do. Met lots of people.
Left in 96 to come home to NOAL.
Not as much to do, but lots of smart people in interesting jobs. They don’t speak bureaucratic speak because most are more interesting (largest per capita of engineers in the US).
More diverse interests and ideas. Great race relations.
Come on down.

Virginia has some of the best scenery on the east coast so it will be a real tragedy to see it marred by thousands of ugly, noisy windmills. Northam is a nut case but it looks like he has a lot of company in state government and the dem voters have themselves to either blame or take credit for their choices. It looks like it's now too far gone to be fixable so the best thing to do is leave. Another encouragement is the ridiculous number of taxes and stickers for everything you own and eighteen different types of cops hiding all over the place in competition with each other to see who can give drivers the most tickets. Been there and left.

Long before dubious Northam and Fairfax Virginia passed a highway speed limit law with over 5 mph a $1,000 fine. I drove from Roanoke to Blacksburg in stop and go interstate gridlock as the speeding fines had both lanes at the same speed. The career politicians have zero common sense and just saw that they has control.

#2 I live in California and want to pray for you but we've had our own troubles with fools running the state and the entire country praying for god to do his part in our destruction. Earthquakes mostly. So don't expect me to help your once lovers only state. Expect the usual remarks from the rest of America. Especially those from great states such as Texas. Those tough "lock and loaders" are really hard with their wishes of mass destruction by god for us here in the once great state of California. Sorry but that's your future. Ya'll voted for it also.

#1, I feel for you and your plight. But, do take matters into your own hands and move to somewhere nicer. Out west, we used to live in the People's Republic of Denver and left last year when we made up our minds to retire and get out of Dodge (I still have my 2007 Ram 2500 TD, by the way) and moved to the west slope. Trump/Pence banners are everywhere here. Retirees like me don't fit Denver's growing PC culture.

"genital reconstruction"?....the adadictome surgery isn't "re.." anything, making from scratch. "Construction" of a sad, non-functional facsimile.

Virginia should never have demanded their part of Washington D.C. be returned. That area now drives the politics of the state, and many of those citizens will eventually return to their home states, or elsewhere.

I left Tidewater many years ago and never looked back. African Americans have moved the state Democratic, but at a disastrous cost having to share power with left wing rubes and fanatics. There’s no turning back.
Many years ago as little kid, I considered Virginians, black and white, more mannered and civilized than my relatives up north. Later as an adult working and traveling around the country only reinforced my observations. At this point I probably will never return even to visit the graves of my parents. Thankfully the are not alive to see what has become of the state they lived for over 50 years.

Left VA 14 years ago to get another degree, as only schools teaching what I wanted to learn were in Philadelphia and Los Angelos. [Had lived in Philly, too cold and dirty, so chose LA.]
Sad to leave beautiful Monterey, but with Newsom still keeping churches closed, and now [supposedly] NOT singing, the ‘writing is on the wall.’ Our church is open and singing as are many others!
Will visit friends in VA, but Daughter needs me to “house-sit” their lovely new home near Hilton Head. Can’t wait to vote there!

One of the ways Pubs continue to fail is by NOT running strong candidates - even if expected to lose. We STILL have to have our side out there explaining who we are and what we stand for. We have suffered greatly by always allowing the Other Side to define us, wrongly. We need more and better candidates. Could win a few more and prevent the growing disasters, or at least have better "I told you so" conversations later.

I'm hoping the democrats are successful at implementing their agenda, this way the whole country can watch them collapse. There are a lot of liberal states ready to circle the drain, can you imagine if republicans weren't all cowering cowards how they could showcase the difference between the red and blue states..

The state GOP really failed us in 2018 - almost 30 races had no R on the ticket to vote for. I can retire next year and am trying to convince husband to move to FL (I grew up in FL). Or SC (we were both stationed there in the early 1990s). Those poor birds and bats to get killed by those stupid turbines and solar farms.

They were stolen, #20. Especially Ken Cuccinelli’s run against Terry McAwful for governor. Fairfax County, the most leftwing in the state, is always the last to report returns and does it long after all other counties have reported - it’s because they need the time to find out how many votes they need to manufacture in order to win.
